Great keyboard for my Surface Pro Copilot+ PC
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently acquired the Surface Pro – Copilot+ PC along with the Surface Slim Pen and Pro Keyboard. . The Dune-colored keyboard is a nice departure from the usual black and gray standards I've always had. It effortlessly attaches and detaches from the tablet thanks to its magnetic connector, offering flexible positioning—either at a tilted angle for comfortable typing or laid flat to reveal the neatly stored Slim Pen in its storage/charging tray (see attached pictures). The Alcantara material covering the keyboard, reminiscent of high-quality felt, not only feels soft but also provides stability and eliminates slippage on any surface I’ve tried it on. A backlit keyboard is a must-have for me, so I appreciate that this one comes with adjustable brightness levels, enhancing usability across different environments. Having been a laptop/mouse user forever, using the Slim Pen for the first time has been quite eye-opening. After a few days of using the keyboard and pen, I've found the experience refreshingly positive in general day-to-day computer usage. I have also edited several videos just using the keyboard/pen vs. a mouse and have found that some functions are quicker using the pen, but trimming/editing clips is more difficult to me, maybe I’m doing something wrong or just need more practice. In my case I think a mouse is still necessary, at least at this point, while I continue to learn using the pen. The track pad is very responsive as are the keys on the keyboard, they have a nice feel and click to both. The Slim Pen stays securely in place within the magnetic storage tray and charges while it's stored. However, I've noticed that it can be challenging to remove from the tray at times. While the magnetic hold is strong and secure, it can be tricky to extract the pen. Adding a finger-sized indentation or something like that to aid in removing it would be beneficial. Currently, I find myself kind of prying it up by the front tip to release it from the tray, hope this doesn’t hurt it in the long run. Overall, I really like this keyboard/pen, just think it could be a little easier to remove it from the storage tray.

Stylish, Comfortable and Convenient.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Microsoft Copilot+ Surface Pro Keyboard and Pen Stylish, Comfortable and Convenient. summary. Highlights: * Built in try to store and charges the included Pen. * Comfortable to type on. * Large trackpad with tactile clicks. * Even backlighting. * Pen storage area is hidden when keyboard is propped up. * Dedicated key for Copilot. * Dedicated key for Microphone Mute/Unmute. * Function lock key. * Easily detaches to use Surface Pro without the keyboard. Room for Improvement: * Tray that stores and charges pen creates a bump on the lid when closed. * Could be easier to remove the pen from its charging tray. * No convenient place to rest the pen when not in use. * Pen charges only when in the tray in the keyboard and the keyboard is attached to the Surface Pro. Setup: The keyboard itself is powered by the Surface Pro and works only when magnetically connected to the Surface Pro and the connection pins on the bottom edge. Drop the Surface Pen into the tray at the top of the keyboard. It fits in facing left or right and charges while the keyboard is attached to the Surface Pro. Usage: The keyboard magnetically attaches to the bottom edge of the Surface Pro and also magnetically attaches to the face of the Surface when not in use to protect the screen. Open the keyboard lid and the Surface wakes up and unlocks if you have Windows Hello set up. You can immediately start using the keyboard or pull it down a bit further to reveal the Pen tray. Grab the pen and you’re ready to use the Surface by keyboard, trackpad, pen or voice; your choice! The pen magnetically stores facing left or right with the Windows logo and side button facing up so you can see the charging status light. Its great that there is a storage area to keep the pen safe when not in use that also charges the pen, but it’s a bit difficult, at least for me, to remove the pen from that tray. I tend to pull it out by grabbing the writing end which probably isn’t great for the tip. While the pen works great for writing on the screen or navigating Windows, you probably won’t use it 100% of the time. When you put it down to type, use the trackpad or touch the screen with your fingers, there’s no good place for it to hang out while waiting to be picked up again. I’d really like to be able to attach the pen to the side of the Surface Pro as a temporary dock between uses. It kinda hangs from the right edge of the Surface, but more like an afterthought rather than an intentional design choice. And it doesn’t do the same on the left edge of the screen (for Lefties). In the meantime, it kinda magnetically sticks to the right or left palm rest at an angle which keeps it from sliding around on a table, but again, this is more of an afterthought for placement. The keyboard is really nice to type on considering how thin and compact it is. The whole keyboard is backlit with multiple levels of brightness so you can comfortably type in dim rooms like lectures or in the evening at home. There are dedicated keys to mute/unmute the microphone which is super convenient when on video calls. The traditional “PrtScn” (print screen) button has a new icon, and the Fn button has a Fn lock light the same way that the Caps button has a lock light. To support these new Copilot+ Windows PCs, there’s also a Copilot key to the right of the space bar. Tap that button to open the main Copilot app where you can ask your “everyday AI Companion” for anything you need. With the keyboard lid closed against the screen, there’s a significant ridge that is the back of the Pen tray. The lid is no longer flat and smooth with this bump but I still appreciate the ability to store and charge the pen safely and securely. The wrist rest and backside of the keyboard are covered in an Alcantara-like material is soft and comfortable to touch; more so than textured plastic or even leather (or faux leather). I’m a bit concerned about the longevity of this material in high-touch areas like the palm rest as it might be more difficult to keep clean, but least it looks and feels great for now. Overall: The Surface Pro Keyboard and Slim Pen are a great way to expand the functionality of your Surface Pro tablet. The keyboard provides a secure way to store and charge the Pen, plus has dedicated keys to make using your Surface Pro that much more convenient. Overall, you can’t go wrong with this keyboard and pen combo unless you want to upgrade to the version that wirelessly connects to the Tablet and can be used at a distance.

Makes the Surface Pro much more usable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Microsoft Surface Slim Pen and Pro Keyboard bundle really adds to the usability of the Surface Pro 11th Edition. The keyboard snaps right into the two slots on the edge of the tablet. One slot is the communications and power port. The second appears to be just a slot for stability. The connection is instantaneous, no setup for the pen or the keyboard is needed. Be aware that this keyboard must be physically connected to the tablet. The keyboard makes the Surface Pro much more like a laptop. But just fold the keyboard behind the tablet and you’ve got a tablet again. Don’t worry about pressing the keyboard keys. It doesn’t seem to recognize them when it’s folded back. Ever since I got the Surface Pro, I’ve had trouble getting it to recognize a touch/tap. However, the pen is always recognized. When I use it, I just tap once and it works. Using my finger on the tablet is sometimes very frustrating, requiring repeated attempts to get it to recognize a touch. Typing on the keyboard is WAY faster and more accurate than trying to use the virtual keyboard on the tablet. Even though the keyboard is really low profile, the keys have enough action to make typing feel right. This keyboard does not have removable batteries or a separate charge port. It works while connected to the tablet and simply does not work when it is not connected. The pen is charged when it is in the handy storage area built into the keyboard. The magnets hold everything securely in place. One weirdly entertaining feature is that if you drop the pen in the storage area upside down, the magnets flip it over to the correct charging position automatically. Besides the greatly improved touch recognition from using the pen, it has a really cool erase feature. Just turn the pen over and use the other end as an eraser. Just like an old fashion pencil. I use the whiteboard on virtual sessions all the time and the pen is a must for that. Another feature that I use more than I thought I would, is the dedicated CoPilot key. Just press the CoPilot key on the keyboard and a CoPilot window pops up ready for you to enter or speak an AI prompt or search criteria. So far, the only real irritation is that after the last Windows update and often after I reboot the Surface Pro, I need to physically disconnect then reconnect the keyboard to get it to be recognized. It only takes seconds, but it’s an annoyance. In summary, this pen and keyboard bundle makes the Surface Pro (11th Edition) much more usable. I now feel comfortable taking the Surface Pro (and the keyboard bundle) with me on my next business trip replacing both my tablet and my laptop.

Surface Slim Pen (2nd Gen) & Pro Keyboard
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Microsoft Surface Slim Pen (2nd Gen) and Pro Keyboard is the mid range option being sold along with the new Surface Pro 11 Copilot+ PC. If you're familiar with previous Surface Pro keyboards, this one won't be unfamiliar to you. The Microsoft Surface Slim Pen (2nd Gen) and Pro Keyboard connects magnetically to the underbody of the Surface Pro. It has a strong magnet and "snaps" into place when in close proximity. It's fairly error proof and once connect, begins working right away. If you have you Surface Pro set to tablet mode when a keyboard is not attached, connecting this keyboard disabled that feature. There is no battery or bluetooth connection on this specific model. If you need that feature, look for the Surface Flex keyboard. They look identical, so mistaking the two seems to be fairly common. Overall typing experience is good. The keys have a rubbery feel which I found nice. The key travel is short and snappy without much movement from side to side, or "bending" feeling. I found it just large enough to not be cramped, and I was able to naturally type almost immediately. They keys also have a backlighting, which brightness can be adjusts. It's picks up on lighting in the room and enables or disabled based on those condition. I found it to do an accurate job of this. You can also manually enable backlighting not automatically detected when needed. There is a Copilot key that triggers Copilot along with other Windows specific shortcuts along the function key row. This makes quickly utilizing built in Windows functions quicker and simpler. The keyboard is wrapped in Alcantara which I found soft and pleasant. It's capable of picking up dirt. I keep a can of Alcanara cleaner at my desk and use it to clean these types of keyboard with frequency. Doing so has kept long term usage signs of ware at bay and my keyboards looking like new. I recommend everyone to do the same, otherwise you will notice dirt and grim building up along with discoloration. The touch pad is pretty awful and probably the worst part about this model. It's not reliable when tapping to click, and mouse movement is simply "ok". It's a "diveboard" style click, and you must position fingers in the right spot to properly depress and register a click. It's also extremely small and does not leave much room for finger travel. There is a nice area at the top to store the Surface Pen 2nd Edition. It clicks right in and there is no fear of it falling out. The pen is slim enough to allow it to remain in the holder with the keyboard elevated and connected to the Surface Pro display. The keyboard needs to be unconnected from that elevated position and lay flat to remove it. I found in elevated position when the keyboard first connected to cover the screen a little bit. Over time, as it broke in, it's now at proper height. Don't be alarmed by this initially, it will settle quickly and fit appropriate. The Surface Pen 2nd Edition is a must have companion along with this keyboard. It connects right away to the Surface without any manual pairing. Writing on the screen feels natural and I didn't notice any lag. Using the back end of the pen acts as an eraser in most apps. Clicking the eraser or the side button can be programmed to open specific apps of your choosing. The button on the side also acts as a mouse click if using the pen as a mouse. They keyboard charges the pen when not in use, so it's always ready to go when you are. The flat design keeps the pen from rolling on the desk, and allows it to securely remain in the keyboard cubby when not in use. Overall, while this is not the best Surface Pro Keyboard Microsoft makes for the Surface Pro, it is a solid choice, costs less than the best, and should be considered when making a Surface Pro purchase. Some extremely minor touch pad design flaws could be fixed to improve the experience, but I would still recommend it to more cost conscious Surface Pro users.

Turn your tablet into a laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Microsoft Surface Slim Pen and Pro Keyboard is an excellent companion for the new Microsoft Surface Pro 11 tablet. With this peripheral, your tablet becomes a convertible 2-in-1 tablet/laptop. Included in the box is the keyboard itself and the Surface Slim Pen. The build quality seems very good and the Alcantara material on the keyboard feels nice. There is a magnetic notch at the top of the keyboard that holds and charges the Surface Slim Pen. The Slim Pen has a blinking white LED to indicate it is charging and it seems to charge very quickly. The magnet holding the pen is very strong and it’s kind of hard to remove the pen when the keyboard is attached to the tablet. Once the pen is removed from the notch, it automatically connects to the tablet through Bluetooth. The keyboard magnetically snaps into place on the tablet and is automatically recognized by the tablet. For a compact portable keyboard, the typing experience is much better than I expected. The keys have a nice click, travel distance, and feel to them. In addition, the keyboard is backlit and there is a key (F5) that allows you to adjust the backlight level. The is also a special new Copilot key that brings up Copilot which might be appreciated by people who favor using the keyboard for quickly launching applications. For me, I’m not sure how much of an approvement this is over just using your mouse to click on the Copilot app on the taskbar. The trackpad is also very responsive and recognizes my finger gestures and button presses well. My overall experience with the keyboard and trackpad is very good. The Slim Pen feels nice and light in the hand. There are two buttons on the pen. One button is on the top end that bring up OneNote and the other is on the side that seems to behave like the right mouse button. You can also personalize the actions for the buttons. I like that you can use the top end of the pen as an erasure as it mimics a real-life pencil. It performs very well for note taking and drawing. Overall, I can highly recommend this keyboard for Microsoft Surface Pro 11 owners that want to convert their great tablet into a great 2-in-1 tablet/laptop.

The best keyboard and pen option for Surface
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Surface Slim pen 2 and Pro keyboard convert the 2-in-1 Surface Pro into a sleek lightweight laptop and media creation tool. The keyboard instinctively latches correctly onto the tablet into the two designated connector slots via the magnets when positioned close and works perfectly with the Surface kickstand. The two slots provide connectivity and power for the keyboard and passthrough charging for the pen. There is a cavity at the top of the keyboard which houses and charges the slim pen when connected to the tablet. The design allows the cavity to be easily tucked underneath the tablet keeping the pen out of sight during use if preferred. The backlit QWERTY style keys are nicely sized and have good travel and accurate keystrokes. The keyboard backlighting has two brightness levels. The keyboard has a little noticeable flex at times but generally feels solid and performs well during most typing tasks. There is a dedicated Copilot key for launching the Copilot AI app, but otherwise, the keys are standard fare for a Windows PC. The integrated trackpad is accurate and is not prone to errant swipes and selections. There are no hardware click buttons but pad taps and double taps are sufficiently responsive and accurate. The Windows mouse app allows changes such as mouse speed for more granular fine-tuning. The Bluetooth enabled Slim pen 2 can also be used without the keyboard until it need charging. It functions well as a mouse style pointer, especially for media creation. It has good pressure sensitivity for freehand drawing and hand writing on the Surface. There are two buttons on the pen which function similar to mouse buttons and also allow pairing the pen via Bluetooth with other devices. The pen tips last a good while and are replaceable if or when they wear down. The tip doesn’t seem harsh on the Surface Pro glass, which is good because I’m having a hard time finding quality paper style protectors like I use on my other tablet. The pen charges wirelessly via the cavity on the Surface keyboard but does not have a dedicated charger. Overall, the Surface slim pen and keyboard cover are indispensable if using the Surface as a true 2-in-1. They don’t add much bulk or weight and work seamlessly with the Surface. The cover also helps keep the Surface screen protected when not in use. The keyboard is also available in matching colors for the Surface. The pen however only comes in black.

The perfect companion
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Microsoft Surface Slim Pen and Pro Keyboard are a perfect companion to my Microsoft Surface Pro - 11th Edition. The Slim Pen really adds to the tablet experience expanding the capabilities and providing a true writing experience. It also provides a superb drawing experience. With 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and haptic feedback, the new Slim Pen really stands out in regard to performance. Use it to mark-up documents, draw a beautiful picture or simply jot some quick notes down. The Slim Pen is a MUST HAVE with the new Surface Pro. I'm really enjoying it. I also like the design of it being flat. It is an adjustment but it keeps the pen in place and prevents it from rolling off surfaces. Microsoft did a great job on this keyboard. The mechanical backlit keys provide such a nice typing experience. The keyboard is really comfortable to use whether it's sitting on a desk or in my lap. I love that it has a dedicated CoPilot key as well as the Surface Pro 11 is really geared toward the new CoPilot AI integration. I also love that the keyboard has shortcut keys for screen brightness and keyboard brightness as well. The trackpad is simply amazing. They made it just perfectly large enough for comfort and it is very responsive and nice to use. It attaches to the surface magnetically and feels very secure. I did have one instance where I opened the surface and the keyboard was not functional at all. I had to remove and reattach it to restore functionality. This has only occurred one single time thus far and I use it daily so this will not impact my rating. Overall I am really pleased with the keyboard and pen and I feel like it's a must have accessory for anyone who owns the Microsoft Surface Pro. It's very well made and the design is perfect. It opens up more in terms of usability and functionality and definitely increases my productivity on the Surface.

Must have for Surface Pro owners!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As someone who lives and breathes by the mantra "work smarter, not harder," I'm always on the lookout for gadgets that promise to turn my productivity levels up a notch. Enter the Microsoft Surface Slim Pen (2nd Edition) and the Pro Keyboard for Surface Pro 11. At first glance, these accessories scream "must-have," but do they live up to the hype? Buckle up as I dive into the nitty-gritty of this dynamic duo. --Design and Build Quality-- Starting with the keyboard, it's cloaked in a sophisticated Alcantara material, giving it a premium, tactile feel that’s light as a feather. The magnetically attached mechanism is as smooth as butter—detach and reattach with zero fuss. Plus, it sports a nifty micro-fold that angles the keyboard for a more ergonomic typing experience. Opening and closing the Surface Pro 11 with this keyboard feels almost ceremonial, waking the tablet up or putting it to sleep as if by magic. --Typing Experience-- Typing on this keyboard feels like playing a grand piano—keys are exceptionally responsive and consistent. I clocked in at an impressive 105 words per minute with an 85% accuracy rate on MonkeyType. Whether I'm cranking out emails or deep-diving into code, my fingers glide over the backlit keys with ease, even in low-light environments. --Trackpad Woes-- However, not all is rosy in keyboard land. The trackpad though, leaves much to be desired. When my display magnification is set to 100%, there's a frustrating lag on initial movements that makes precise cursor control a Herculean task. Bumping up the zoom level to 150%+ mitigates this issue somewhat. Additionally, the lack of a haptic feedback trackpad (like the one on the new Flex Keyboard) is a letdown at this price point. The trackpad also has a bit of a rattle, which doesn't inspire confidence in its durability. --Copilot+ Key-- Now, let’s talk about the new ‘Copilot+’ key, which replaces the right ‘Control’ key. For Copilot power users, this is a dream come true, making access to the AI assistant a breeze. However, for folks like me who frequently use the right Control key for text editing shortcuts, this change feels more like a rude awakening. I'd have preferred if Microsoft found a new home for this key without displacing one of my trusty navigational stalwarts. --Slim Pen 2: A Stroke of Genius-- The Slim Pen 2 slots seamlessly into the top of the keyboard, charging effortlessly while it rests. Its new shape is a significant upgrade from my old Surface Pro 6 pen, making it more comfortable to hold and use. As someone who isn’t an artist, I found its performance smooth and consistent for my scribbles and note-taking. However, my niece, who is a budding digital artist, gave it a spin and was impressed. She owns an iPad Pro 13 (M2) with an Apple Pencil and mentioned that the Slim Pen 2 holds its own, especially with tilt and pressure sensitivity. --Drawbacks of the Slim Pen 2-- The one minor gripe I have is that extracting the Slim Pen 2 from its slot can be a bit of a struggle. Maybe with practice, this will become second nature, but for now, it's a slight hiccup in an otherwise stellar experience. -Conclusion- So, is the Microsoft Surface Slim Pen (2nd Edition) and Pro Keyboard for Surface Pro 11 (11th Edition) worth the investment? In a word, yes. Despite a few minor flaws, the overall experience is exceptional, especially if you’re aiming to supercharge your productivity. The build quality, typing experience, and added functionalities like the Copilot+ key and Slim Pen 2 integration make this a must-have accessory for any Surface Pro 11 user. Highly recommend!

Beautiful materials, and a pleasure to use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Pro keyboard is arguably a necessary accessory for the Surface Pro. Not only does it help protect it, but its minimal footprint makes it an easy addition to the Surface Pro. They keyboard feels excellent to use, thanks in a large part to the soft Alcantara fabric. It feels nice against your wrists while you're typing, or as you're carrying around your Surface. Keyboard travel also feels good, and I'm able to very accurately type on it. The touchpad is equally good too. Allowing very easy mouse control. The different positions all feel great too. Whether that's flat on the table, or propped up, held in place with magnets, or bent all the way around. The nice thing about it being bent to the back is that it seems to disable keys, so you're not accidentally pressing a bunch of keys as it's on the back of the Surface. It also has nice features, like the backlit keys and a magnetic slot where the Slim Pen not only rests but is charged as well. The Slim Pen is excellent. The responsiveness and level of control are great. The haptic feedback is an amazing addition as well. I wish every app incorporated the haptics, or somehow it was at a system level instead of per app basis. It truly adds a lot to the feel. The buttons feel great as well, and I'm a big fan of being able to just turn the pen over to use the eraser. The customizable button and double-click shortcut of the eraser are useful as well. It pairs and works seamlessly, allow you to immediately get to sketching or taking notes on your Surface. Keyboard Pros: Excellent materials on the keyboard, great keyboard travel and feel, backlit keys, easy to attach and remove from the Surface, convenient storage for the Slim Pen that also charges it Keyboard Cons: A bit on the pricey side, I sometimes think it may benefit from being a little more rigid Slim Pen Pros: Precise responsiveness, feels great to hold, useful button placement and easily customizable, haptic feedback is incredible Slim Pen Cons: haptic feedback needs to be enabled by developers and is not in every app, also a bit on the pricey side Overall, this is an excellent addition to the Surface Pro. While the keyboard and pen are a bit pricey, purchasing them together like this saves a little money and they both work extremely well.

Practically essential for the Surface
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the newest 11th edition of the Surface Pro Keyboard. Keep in mind this is not the Flex version, which the only difference between the two versions being that the Flex has wireless functionality. Having owned the previous edition of the Pro Keyboard, I wouldn't say this is a must-have upgrade. That said if you own a Surface and don't have a cover, this is definitely worth the purchase. So what's new to this edition? There aren't too many new features. The cover is still made out of Alcantara. First thing you may notice is that there's a Copilot key new as Microsoft has been pushing its Copilot feature pretty hard with its newer hardware, whether or not you find this useful depends on how much you use Copilot. This edition of the Pro Keyboard is backlit so it's a nice feature if your version doesn't have it. F1 also features a mute button for the onboard microphone. F5 is now used for altering the brightness of the keyboard backlight. This means that if you previously use F5 to play and pause content, this feature is now gone. I will say that typing on this new keyboard does feel better. It feels a lot closer to typing on a laptop's keyboard in terms of tactile sensation. I'm not sure if it's because the keys are slightly less depressed than the previous version or not. Not much to say about the trackpad; it works without any issues just like the previous edition of the Pro Keyboard. Considering the price that is paid for this Pro Keyboard, I am disappointed to see that it doesn't have a fingerprint scanner like some of the other Pro Keyboard versions. If you don't use this feature though then it won't matter. As for the slim pen second edition, this is still the same pen that has been out for the past two years or so. I personally like the tactile feel of it more than the Apple Pencil. The Surface pen works well and I have no complaints about it. Battery seem to last a decent amount of time. Keep in mind that this review is written after only owning the Pro Keyboard and Surface Slim Pen for about five days. My previous Pro Keyboard went bad after a year and a half of regular use so hopefully will be of better quality.

A Necessary Addition
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.[PROS] Pen Accuracy: I find using the Surface Pen quite pleasant and necessary to get the most out of my Surface Pro Copilot device. I'm able to write, draw, and markup with surprisingly, great precision. Latency is extremely minimal which resulted in greater fluidity for me. Very Responsive: Whether it's typing on the keyboard, controlling the cursor through the trackpad, or executing pen-related commands, all parts work effectively. I've yet to notice any glitches occurring which is a thumbs up in my book. No Charging Needed: The keyboard must remain connected for use, but all is not lost. The worry of wondering if your keyboard has enough "juice" is no longer a concern. Furthermore, this helps to allow to a slightly slimmer design. Efficient: When it came using the keyboard, I noticed that it didn't cause massive battery drain on my Surface Pro Copilot. Given that it relies totally on the tablet for power, I was highly impressed that battery levels remained steady. On average, I would probably lose a couple of battery points each hour. However, it didn't diminish my ability to perform any task. [CONS] - Lacks Wireless Connectivity: Unfortunately, this keyboard doesn't have the wireless capability like "Big Brother" does. I did wish for the feature to be part of the baseline design, but I understand that it targets a different consumer. - No Power Button or Fingerprint Reader: These aren't required features for the keyboard, but are things on my wishlist. This accessory has the ability to turn the Surface Pro into a laptop. If I use my device like a laptop then I would want functionality similar to one. Being unable to turn on my Surface Pro from the keyboard or unlock my device it is a bummer, but not the end of the world. [Mixed Bag] - Okay Comfort Level: For people with smaller hands, comfort level would probably be A1. I lean towards having larger hands so sometimes I have to adjust my hand/wrist position for comfort. I wouldn't use this device for an 8 hr. work day, but I find perfectly fine to use it for a couple hours at a time. [CONCLUSION] I'm not a fan of spending more money than I have to regarding a big tech purchase. For this product, I've made an exception. The Surface Slim Pen and Keyboard Pro is the way to go. It's very competent in its intended functionality and should be complimentary for any scenario, especially when being on the go.

Good protection and pen storage
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Microsoft Surface Pro Keyboard is comfortable to type on and magnetically stores and charges the Slim Pen when not in use. It is thin and can feel a little flimsy when typing on it (especially if you're using it on your lap). I find myself worried that I may apply too much pressure and cause the top to "unfold" down (where the pen is stored) or maybe bend the keyboard. So, if you're typing a long document or doing a lot of coding, you may want to fold the keyboard completely out so it is flush against your desk's surface. Despite that, the keys seem to be spaced normally and it did not feel like a huge adjustment moving from a full-sized keyboard to this. The trackpad is also accurate and easy to use, properly registering my gentle taps as "clicks". Both the laptop and keyboard fold together nicely to protect the screen and they make the unit very portable to carry or slip into a backpack. The addition of the Copilot key is nice, but I don't find pressing it often even though I'm a frequent Copilot user (I'm simply used to clicking the Copilot icon on the task bar). I really like the dedicated mute key located on F1 as it makes it simple to find during a meeting (so I'm not scrambling to find the icon on screen). The keyboard also has an adjustable backlight for late night typing. The keys can feel a little "mushy" to type on as this is not a mechanical keyboard with clicky keys. The Slim Pen flat and may initially feel a little odd to feel, but I adjusted to it fairly quickly. I really appreciate the tactile feedback (which can be adjusted in the pen settings) so it makes writing on glass feel a little more natural without needing a paper-like screen protector. The top of the pen can be used as an eraser in supported programs, and its click can be configured to open OneNote or another application. Overall, this keyboard provides decent protection to the display while providing a full-sized keyboard, trackpad and storage (with charging) for the pen.

It gets the job done but...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ability to keep the keyboard connected to the Surface Pro is both an advantage and a disadvantage to me. The keyboard doesn’t need to be charged, but that also means it needs to be attached at all times if typing is required. As a result, this form factor can feel restrictive in terms of where it can be set up such as on tables that aren’t too narrow or on certain sitting positions. KEYS: They have a nice tactile, responsive feel overall - although presses can feel a little stiff - sometimes I found myself typing louder and with more force as a result. Also when typing with the Slim Pen 2 tray folded and the keyboard is raised, typing feels a little hollow. However, I personally missed having some dedicated media play/pause buttons, and I found the up/down arrow keys to be really small. On the plus side, the touchpad feels good DESIGN: I got it in Dune. The keyboard is pretty light, and the fabric on the exterior side is nice. It makes the device seem less cold/icy and blends in or even complements furnishings, but the interior not so much. I believe it has a different texture than the outside (inside was less soft, a little more plastic-y, perhaps as a deterrent to sweat staining or something). The keyboard is advertised as ‘Covered with luxurious Alcantara material’, but for some reason the interior reminded me of a cardboard egg carton, particularly around the raised edges surrounding the keys. The key colors look a little plain. The magnets/connection points are secure and they won't detach unless you want them to (ask me how I know - the tablet’s kickstand slid off a small side table but I caught the keyboard and the magnet connection prevented it from falling.) PEN: Being able to have the Slim Pen 2 stored on the keyboard and charged is one of the best things about this keyboard. This is my first time using a pen to edit photos so I can’t make too much of a comment about it, but overall it felt much better than using a mouse or touchpad. The eraser on the end is a nice touch in addition to the clickable button. Handwriting recognition is also pretty good, when the words are written clearly. One thing to note - the pen’s pinned apps are limited to 4 programs of your choice at a time which felt like that could be a little frustrating. The pen is also light, almost like a plastic toy, but once the haptics start, it feels more like a real tool. I appreciated the staff paper in the journal app which would be perfect for musicians who can use it to compose or jot down musical ideas. OTHER THOUGHTS: One disadvantage for me was the folding upper section of the keyboard where the Slim Pen 2 is stored - trying to move the tablet+keyboard combo one handed around felt a little scary and messy since the folding section where the Slim Pen is stored can pop open and cause the keyboard to flap around in the air. In the end, without a keyboard, the Surface Pro’s full potential is limited for sure, but I did find myself checking to see what the other keyboard alternatives were.

Good accessories, but could use improvement
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been a tablet user since the 1st iPad was released. I loved it when Apple announced the Apple Pencil and I’ve been using it consistently ever since. I also value a matching keyboard for the tablet and when I got the Surface Pro Snapdragon X Plus, I really wanted the keyboard and pencil to be included as a bundle. This was unfortunately not the case. Aside from that roadblock, I have to say that the design of the keyboard and slim pen are quite nice. I like how they seem to fit as an ecosystem. The pen is, of course, designed to lay flat for storage and portability. The only downside to that is it’s a little different to be using something flat to write with. I’m used to round pens and pencils and picking up the Slim Pen felt foreign to me. I did get used to it after a little while, but it was a learning curve I had to overcome. The pen has good sensitivity and responsiveness with the screen of the Surface. I doodled a bit in paint and used it to markup a PDF and it worked well for those purposes. The keyboard attaches to the tablet magnetically and gets its power from that connector. The inside of the keyboard matches the outside — both sides have a soft microfiber cloth as a liner. The keys are nice to type on and while I don’t feel they are a replacement for a standard keyboard, they get the job done for the tablet. The keyboard is only one piece. It folds over to cover the screen of the tablet, but the back of the Surface Pro is still exposed. The kickstand of the device is part of the tablet’s back and not the keyboard. This was a surprise to me as I’m used to the keyboard accessory being a protective cover for the tablet, as well. It’s not a bad design — it was just surprising. In my opinion, these accessories are a must-have if you are getting the Surface Pro. They turn a good tablet into a great computer alternative.

Great addition for Microsoft Surface Pro
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have recently started using Microsoft Surface Pro with Copilot+ laptop but it wouldn't have been as useful without this Microsoft's Pro Keyboard that is a must-have accessory designed to make the Surface Pro even more user-friendly. It is just fantastic to use it as a combo. This is not just an extension but is a perfect accessory for the Surface Pro laptop and works flawlessly, especially when paired with the Surface Slim Pen that offers real-time writing, pinpoint accuracy, and impressive shading abilities. I hardly noticed any inconsistencies using this pen and the experience what just as good as using a regular pen or pencil while exploring the painting capabilities. It comes in various colors but this Dune color keyboard is a perfect match to the laptop. This is covered with luxurious Alcantara material that adds to the looks of it. Despite it's compact design, the keyboard has a dedicated slot for the pen to charge, store and charge while not in use. This has many other features like instant access to Copilot by using a special Copilot key that instantly access to helpful tools to boost the day to day productivity. It has handy new keys to mute the microphone as needed in a flash and take screenshots easily using the snipping tool. The keys are smooth to operate on the keyboard and the track pad is big enough to navigate on the Surface Pro screen. In short, Microsoft's Pro Keyboard is all about making the Surface Pro more versatile and enjoyable to use, whether you’re working, creating, or just browsing.

Great addition for tablet to laptop conversion
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As the title says, this is a great accessory for people like me who like to use a tablet for leisure but need a keyboard for productivity. The keyboard is very thin which is great as it does not add much bulk to the Surface Pro tablet. The keyboard is very easy to install as it simply attaches via magnet to the tablet and once attached, there is no lag in recognizing the attachment. The keyboard was well thought out and designed as I find my favorite feature is the storage area for the included Surface Slim Pen. The pen sits in a space at the top of the keyboard, just under the attached tablet which protects it from falling out and getting lost. The pen itself is pretty great. I have been using it to take hand written notes for classes. Not only has it been accurate in my writing but it allows me to save money and no longer need notebooks. I also like to doodle a bit and while I am far from an artist, I find myself trying to create more knowing I can simply revert back to the last pen stroke and try again. Back to the keyboard. It acts as a screen protector when folded closed so no worries about scratching the screen. The back of the tablet is still exposed so I would say that would still be susceptible to scratching but for me, that is normal wear and tear for any portable device I have ever had. I do find myself mistyping a little more often by hitting a wrong key from time to time but this is new and just like any keyboard, I am confident I will quickly adapt to the layout. Besides the mistyping, this is a must have addition for anyone who owns a surface pro and wants the feel of a laptop while maintaining the ability to have a tablet. This keyboard has made my surface pro my daily driver now and I couldn’t be happier.

Works/feels better than expected, great quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The thing that stood out to me immediately when I started using this was how unexpectedly good the typing experience was. For essentially a glorified tablet cover, it provides a shockingly good typing experience. It's quite a bit stiffer than I was expecting, and the key action feels pretty good as well. It's somewhat uncomfortable and inconvenient if you aren't on a flat, hard surface. Trying to use it on your lap, for example, is a very uncomfortable experience - it's almost impossible to have a comfortable typing position without the tablet falling off your lap. With that in mind, if you can afford to spend the extra cash, I would go for the Surface Pro Flex Keyboard - it's a fully wireless option. You'd be able to have the device sit to the side or in front of you while you type from your lap. Lets you have a lot more flexibility in usage. One nice feature is that the Fn key is more of an Fn lock. The top row of keys defaults to the device controls such as brightness, volume, mute, keyboard backlight, et cetera; but pressing the Fn key makes the row act as function keys - and they continue to act that way unless you press the Fn key again to switch back. There's a little light on the key to indicate which one is currently active, although if you aren't actively typing the light will turn off after a bit and then it can get a bit confusing. The trackpad is rather small, it seems as though there's some space they could still make use of to increase the size at least a bit. It functions well, though. Pretty hefty click, a bit odd feeling but not an issue. As for the pen, I can't say too much about it as I'm planning to use it to take notes for the upcoming semester and haven't had much time to use it, but I do have a bit to say. It feels alright in the hand, the weird oval shape doesn't feel super great but it's fine. Haptics are an interesting feature, unless you're an artist (honestly maybe even then) it's a bit gimmicky, although pretty cool. Buttons function great. One complaint I have is that there's a sticker with all the regulatory info on the side, and when holding the pen the edge of the sticker makes my hand itch. Can easily be removed, but it shouldn't have to be. The alcantera material feels pretty good, but I am a bit worried about if it'll start to "fray" or something after using it for awhile, and how quickly it'll get dirty. So far so good but it hasn't been that long.

Perfect Surface Companion
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Nice typing experience Backlit Light Includes dock for pen Pen automatically orients for charging No So Great Keys squeak Trackpad rattles Keyboard sometimes stops working The Slim Pen and Keyboard combo provides a good all in one solution for input on the Surface. The deck feels roughly the same as it has for years. It feels solid and light. Overall typing is good with decent key travel. Activation requires a bit heavier touch than some keyboards, but activation is reliable. A slight detraction from the overall typing experience is a slightly loose rattle when tapped and a squeaking sound when keys are pressed. It sounds very similar to the sound on low profile chiclet keyboards suggesting it is a tradeoff for having these types of shallow keys. If you have had previous Surface Type covers the sound and feeling will be familiar. If you prefer a solid and stable typing experience, you will likely prefer laying the keyboard flat on a surface. When propped up the typing experienced has a slightly hollow feel due to the thinness of the cover. The touchpad is on the smaller side but it glides smoothly with excellent tracking and palm rejection. The addition of a Slim Pen dock is nice. You don’t even have to worry about how you place the pen into the dock. When your drop it in the magnets flip it to orient correctly so it charges without fuss. They work well enough that if you get close enough it is like it magically pulls the pen into the dock and flips it around all on its own. When the keyboard is propped up the pen is hidden out of sight in the dock. A small but nice touch is when you attach the cover to the Surface it automatically pairs the pen making the process seamless. The pen has a nice medium weight and size to it. It feels a little strange at first being round, but it is easy to get used to and the oblong shape makes it easy to hold and orient to keep the button where you want it. The writing experience is good but not quite pen like. The feeling is smooth with a small amount of friction. It is funny that Microsoft calls it a pen when it has an eraser. The back of the pen serves as both a button and an eraser. By default, it brings up OneNote when clicked. If you flip it around it erase just like a pencil. In fact, it even has a slightly rubbery texture just like a pencil. Beyond the minor squeaks and rattles the combination of the Slim Pen and Keyboard cover feels nice. It is a perfect compliment to the Surface Pro.

An Absolute Must Have Item!!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So owning a Surface pro Copilot + PC without owning the Surface slim pen and Pro Keyboard…would be like having an airplane with out wings or a car without tires. I mean I guess you could but you would be really limiting your self. The tablet is amazing by itself for sure but with the sleek, lightweight and visually appealing look of the keyboard really makes this a laptop replacing powerhouse. I also really love how they incorporated the pen case into the keyboard itself. The magnet are strong and secure for both the main connection to the tablet and for the pen. The pen also clamps on to the keyboard itself near the touch pad so you can set it and come back to it quickly. The only nit picky thing I can think of is … the pen…I hate to seven say this… is a little tricky to pull out. Just a little. I wish they would have had an indention on the sides so my index and thumb finger could easily pull it from it magnetic cradle in the keyboard…. NIT PICKY. The material they used for the keyboard is very tactile…like a velvet. What an interesting choice that really lets it stand out. It feels so organic rather than plasticky and industrial. Really cutting edge and frankly a gamble that really pays off and adds to the Surface Pro experience. The pen is slim and feels amazing in the hand. It just feels so natural. It is by far the best pen I have used. Light, sleek and very functional. Ready to go when needed. I also love how responsive it is when writing on the Surface Pro + Copilot. I would have liked it to be the same color as the keyboard or an accent like to the “dune” color…more nitpicky. Overall, I love this and makes for a 365 complete experience when it all comes together!

Must Have Surface Pro Accessories!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Surface Pro is truly an excellent 2-1 device but anyone with a tablet that has the power of some of the best computers knows that they are truly fully formed when you have a keyboard accessory. And the official Microsoft Surface Slim Pen and Pro Keyboard is far and away the best choice to be made! PROS: - Opening this up, it looks fantastic. It’s light, it’s super slim, it’s portable, and it just has a premium feel to it. And setup is you just snap it to the Surface Pro and you are ready to go! - The keyboard itself is really great. It provides and excellent typing experience as it types smoothly and with nice quick response. The spacing on the keys is well done and all in all I really like it! - The trackpad is also a necessary and excellent feature! Optimal size with easy controls and smooth operating as well. - I will also add that I like how the keyboard can lay completely flat and be typed on or be up at a 20% angle or so to type. Gives it nice versatility along with being a cover for the screen itself when you have it closed all together. - The Pen is excellently made, really well done craftsmanship on it. It feels great in the hand, has precision on the screen, and nice built in touch controls as well. It stores safely into the keyboard itself and makes it much more secure than being attached to the outside somewhere instead. CONS: - Really none I can think of! All in all a great experience. BOTTOM LINE: - If you buy the Surface Pro, this is simply the best accessory you can have and the one you should have. It’s a perfect keyboard, provides even more versatility, the pen brings it to the next level, and it all comes in a sleek package. This keyboard is a no brainer!
