I would recommend this keyboard the backlighting is fantastic and works great.

It may not provide complete protection for the tablet, but it is light, works well and protects the tablet's screen enough. The first one I got definitely had some non-functional keys, but I exchanged it out and my current one has not had any problems.

It was simple to connect and use. It made the Surface 2 even easier to use.

The surface keyboard turned my surface into the most awesome product ever.

I believe, at the minimum, the type cover keyboard should have come with the Surface product with a possible reasonably priced upgrade to the touch cover keyboard. I think this keyboard was too expensive, but I liked the feel of it much better than the type cover. I have been typing for over 25 years, and the touch cover feels more like a normal keyboard. I actually find I do not use my keyboard often, usually only when I am typing a lot of text like I am for this review. There were not a lot of color choices, but I do like my purple cover. The backlight feature is really handy for typing in dark lighting. I do like how I can fold the keyboard under or to the back of the Surface, but I usually just end up taking it off because I do not want the keys to get damaged since they are facing out when I do this. Again, good keyboard but pricey.

Having always used full keyboards, I was so surprised to find out this keyboard had a good feel to it, was comfortable and easy to use. I was especially surprised when I realized that it doubled as a cover. Oh, yes, and I loved the color options.

This type cover with lighted keys is FAR superior to the almost worthless touch cover I originally bought. I find my Surface to be much more useable now. Not having this Type cover deprives Surface users of all benefits available to them.

This keyboard is far easier to use than the first generation flat surface keyboard. Has made it easier for my whole family.

I'm so glad I got the Type Cover for my Surface. It's a very versatile product. It snaps on with ease, and it stays on solidly. The price is a little high for this cover, but in my opinion, it's a must-have if you have a Surface tablet.

I wanted this despite the price. I would rather pay the extra and get the right item than cut corners and be disappointed later. Keyboard locks in magnetically with no effort or concern for alignment. (wish the power connection was as strong on the tablet.) Keys shine clearly in the dark. Only time will tell the durability.

I'm old school so I love that I can feel the keys when I'm typing

Has a good feel to it and it is easy to transition back and forth from the laptop. Snaps right on to the magnetic connection with no fumbling around. I do wonder though just how long the hinge part will last. I take care in how I grasp the keyboard when I remove it from the Surface. Makes a nice cover for the machine.

Good to set up a make shift work station. But it is indeed a separate item so not practical to move while using.

If you're in the market for a Surface 2, don't hesitate to spend the extra bucks for the type cover 2. Typing is a breeze on it. I've never been able to type so fast and accurately in my lap, in bed, at a desk ... anywhere. Plus with the combination of the tablet touch screen, everything is easy to do. The backlit keyboard is great - very bright - you can type in the dark. The other benefit of this keyboard is the charms in the function keys you can play or pause media, share a web page, go to settings, or search the Internet all from the function keys. Microsoft has nailed it - just like I said in my review of the Surface 2!

The mechanical feeling of the keys make it easy to use. The slim design and adjustable brightness of the backlit keys make this a perfect keyboard for Surface RT or Surface Pro (we have one of each)! It also doubles as a screen cover and when it is closed the Surface knows automatically to go to sleep.

Love the color and works great with accuracy for its size
