(1) Click Clickity Click...(2) Brew a cup of coffee (3) Drink the whole pot of coffee while you boil some spaghetti...(3) Come back and eat your pasta/drink a bottle of wine...(4) Log into the newly upgraded windows I installed this Windows 8.1 Pro upgrade on several out-of-the-box computers and it was super easy. A few clicks and you are starting the upgrade. The upgrade didn't mess with any programs (Logmein, Chrome, etc.) that I installed or files that I had copied over. I must say, though, that it took forEVER to upgrade. I had to lookup online how to actually make it work. If you Upgrade, forget what the box tells you. Instead do this: (1) Hold down Windows Key and tap the Pause/Break key (2) Click on the "Get more features with a new edition of windows" link (3) Click on "I Already Have a Product Key" and then go through the rest of the setup process (4) IMPORTANT: At the end if (or should I say WHEN) the process tells you that it didn't install properly, don't go back to step 1 again...It already ate up your serial number. This time, reboot the computer (Windows Key+C...Shut Down...Reboot) and it should start the installation. If when you reboot, no installation comes up still, go back to step 1 and try to enter your serial # again. After following the upgrade process, allow 20-30 minutes of hanging out while it pretends to be working hard. This is about the time you can enjoy your food/cocktail time [Thank you Microsoft for giving me a good time to eat dinner and party down with a party-of-one!] I must say that I am impressed that it is not a huge pain to upgrade, like it was with Windows XP, so thank you for that, Microsoft.

Purchased pro to eliminate gotomypc costs... I am still getting used to windows 8 - it's not necessarily my cup of tea - I'm an old school xp pro lover... so maybe when I get use to the os and start utilizing more of it's options... I will have more to say about pro.

Windows 8.1 Pro is necessary for working properly with Windows Servers in most business environments. All too often PC manufacturers sell their products with the cheaper home version which lacks the ability to join a domain or includes the very useful Remote Desktop tool. This pack also allows you to use your PC as a media center. It is easy to install and works as expected.

Really like this OS once you configure the start menu with your own apps and do a few other small setting changes. Once it's set, it's very reliable and does a great job. Pro is great if you need to add the machine to a domain or need remote access to the machine.

when trying to manage a server, using an operating system that has been around for a decent amount of time is a good idea. All the quirks have already been figured out. That's why I chose windows 8.1 pro. It's easy to connect to a business network. It's easy to maintain the computers using this OS. And the OS is still modern and top of the line.

I had to buy this to connect a laptop to my work server and make Remote Desktop connections. I hate that it costs $100 to upgrade to pro, but it includes media center and security upgrades.

A very nice upgrade from Windows 8.1 home edition. Has several features that make it a better option, the media center part is good, but the extra controls of having the Pro version is what makes this a better option.

The features here should be included with the original OS but I guess Microsoft *needs* all of the extra $100 per computer it can get so you have no choice.

This product is nice if you want to upgrade your current version of windows 8 to the pro version. The pro version has extra features like media center.

It's a much needed program to get media center, fixes previous issues and allows you to share files. It also enables you to watch television online.

I have used this hub for both printers as well as keyboards mice and thumb drives. The hub is instantly recognized in Windows 10 and works great

As the computers purchased were running windows 8.1 home we had to upgrade to pro to fit into the domain and to maintain central control of the dummy terminals. Upgraded to 10 pro as soon as it was installed. :)

Regular Windows 8.1 doesn't work with our small business server, and I could buy a computer that I liked without getting the upgrade. Glad I got what I wanted and upgraded.

I needed the upgrade to enable my PC to work on my work's network. No problems at all.
