If you want to play multiplayer then you will need to buy a Xbox Live membership. When you buy a system you will likely get a discount to buy this and a system together where your starting cost to join live will not be that much. The 14 days of gold service given with the system will not give you games with gold, the rotating free games you can play if your gold subscription is active, that is one of the benefits that comes with Gold. Aside from multiplayer and games with gold there are discounts on games and downloadable content when it comes with Gold Xbox Live service.

Great Product, great price. My son goes through spurts of playing Xbox so I didn't want to buy the whole 12 months. 3 months is a great option.

This is a great card with savings to play live and a popular product. Subscriptions add up but buying the 3 month or 6 month card saves a lot and time.

This is my grandson's favorite gift and is something which I know will be used often. I get "greatest granny" points for this every year!! You have to watch for the deals in Best Buy. This was bought in the Thanksgiving sale for $4.99 when you bought 2 related games. You can't beat that!!
