Great idea, but didn't work and didn't get support

My husband and I went into our local Best Buy and spent a fortune on getting the Xbox 360, Kinect, extra memory, extra control, charging system, and games. We also decided to buy the Xbox Live 12 Month Gold Membership. We got the system home, opened up the games and realized there were free Xbox live trials offered in the game packages - so we figured we would use the free offers before putting in the card we purchased. At the end of the month, the offer ended. I went to enter in the 12 Month Membership card. When I got to the step where you enter the code, I scratched the backside of the card to reveal the code. I then entered the code in multiple times, but it didn't work. So I brought the card back to Best Buy to let them know that the card wasn't working. Best Buy responded that this problem happens quite a bit and I would have to go onto Microsoft to fix it. The Best Buy person also informed me that they don't accept back cards that are scratched!! So I spent over $800 on a system and when I went to enter the code of a $60 card - Best Buy wiped their hands clean.... it's my problem. Not only did they wipe their hands clean, but it acknowledged that this problems happens all the time - but apparently they do nothing about it. What gives - when does customer service kicks in? I have bought all of my kitchen appliances from Best Buy, multiple televisions, and the list goes on - but they cannot back the product they sold me for $60.

Xbox Live Gold vs Playstation Network

I used to have Xbox Live Gold until I realized that I played with my Playstation 3 more than the Xbox 360. For one thing, I found that Playstation Network is just as good. I have played Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 on both networks and found no difference. Because I like the Sony games more than I like the Microsoft games I spent more time on the Playstation Network. My Xbox 360 doesn't get much use so I wasted all that money on Xbox Live Gold. The fact that you have to pay to play on the Xbox 360 is just downright wrong. They even have ads on their console so it's not like they are not making any money. I don't have to pay a penny to play on the Playstation Network. And it is just as good. I have stuck with Playstation Network and haven't looked back since. If you are a parent, you should consider this: It costs 60 bucks a year for Xbox Live Gold. If your kid uses it for five years, you will have spent 300 bucks just for the toll. Five years on Playstation Network on the other hand is FREE.

Due to the fact I am the parent of 4 children in my household and it is a "blended" family, I try to allow my oldest kid's dad the chance to buy this for them yearly. Since he has never managed to get it for them due to one excuse or the other, I buy it for them instead. The history is why I don't just sign up for a family account (LOL although I would probably save more money that way). I have 3 Xbox 360's in my house and I won't pay $60 for live for each box since I primarily use the PS3. However, when it is on sale I usually buy the 1 year subscription for my kids to be able to play with their family that doesn't live with us. This was a great deal for buying the Xbox 360 yearly subscription, I just wish I could've bought three so I could have gotten the deal for each of my children. Unforunately online I am only allowed 1 purchase per person and I live a ways away from an actual store, so that's a bummer. Oh well, bottom line, good sale price and worth it if you have only 1 box : -)

Didn't work, best buy would not let me return

I purchased this online and got it shipped to me. When I tried to activate the code, my xbox indicated that the card wasn't activitated properly. So I spent 30 minutes on the phone with Microsoft and they confirmed that it was not activated and they could not assist me. The card had to be activated by the vendor. I then drove over to best buy and spent a hour talking to their customer service and the manager who would not take a return on this item because the code was scratched off on the back and it was a online purchase. I basically lost $40 on this purchase and best buy has been horrible to deal with.

To all you haters claiming that you shouldn't play Xbox because it cost 60 bucks a YEAR need to realize that it comes out to 5 bucks a month. You can also use Xbox live for free if you only want to play games and unlike ps3 you never have to pay play a game like you do with mmorpgs. The 60 bucks a month is cover the costs to use microsofta servers. Unlike ps3, every pay to use service like Netflix Hulu and all the rest, are served up using microsofts own servers. So you get higher quality video and music than you can using your ps3 or wii.

I don't really know how to review this, unless I'm reviewing the service itself, and not the 12-month subscription. The subscription itself is pretty straight-forward, and the best value is of course the 12-month one. Xbox live, as a service, is pretty great, considering everything you gain access to. I haven't used other services, so I guess I have no basis for comparison, but I also don't seem to find myself wanting for any features either. I've only just begun to explore their new music streaming service, but multiplayer and their online game store has always been a rewarding experience.

I have been a devoted member of xbox live for years and have never regretted it. There are plenty of apps and other content to take advantage of and the multiplayer has always been excellent on the games I have played. The price was never really that bad for me since its the equivalent of a new game and I got this in a bundle so it was actually $20.00 cheaper. You don't need to pay for gold though if you just want to use the apps and download demos, so if multiplayer and the free games with gold and gold discounts are not appealing to you, than you probably don't need it.

At the time of purchase i paid $35 for this item. considering it is normally $60, i find this item to be a fairly good value. when purchasing this product, most individuals who would do so know exactly what this does, and know it is required to work exactly the same way for everyone. you don't have to worry about any flaws or defects because this is an online activation code to have an xbox live gold account for one year. pretty straight forward. only get this if you have a device that supports an xbox live account ie:Games for windows, xbox360, or xbox one.

Xbox said the store did not activate it at the time of purchase. I had to go back to the store which was 45 min. away. I took it back to the Best Buy. Customer service said they could not help me. They said they have nothing to do with the card. I asked for a number to call for help with the card. Was told he did not know who to call.

Fully satisfied with my 5th year of xbox live. Yes you have to pay unlike on the PSN but you get your monies worth. Updates and DLC for games are rolled out first on XBL since there is a bigger audience. There is also a much larger community on XBL which makes multiplayer games much more enjoyable. Yes PSN is free, but the quality of my online gaming experience is much better on XBL almost matching that of PC gaming

When I picked up the card and got home the code was not working. We drove all the way back to the store and no one was willing to help since the silver was scratched off (by us) to see the code. We were told to talk to microsoft. After number of communications back and forth it turns out that the card was not activated. BB does not know what they are doing and was not willing to help and we had to do all the work that they were suppose to do. NOT happy with the experience.

I bought this whenever it was offered for 35$ and it was the best price that i could find from the store to multiple sites on the web and it was worth every penny including that it was free shipping. I put that waiting was the only thing that wasn't so great about it and that was because you have to wait about a week until it gets to you but i really dont mind waiting but if your impatient you will probably mind but other than that i had no problems and definatly would order again whenever i need it.

The Xbox live card was not activated. I had to return it to the store, which was a big inconvenience. The best buy employee helping me said I had to contact corporate, when it was purchased from that best buy store. I was very upset my Xbox live card was not activated when I first purchased it. It took a while, but they gave me a new card after arguing with me. I will NOT buy from best buy online again. Overall, this is a great product, just make sure they activate your card!

This is a 1 year subscription to Xbox Live Gold. It was on sale at a very good price, so I bought it. With Xbox Live Gold you also get Games With Gold, which means 2 free games every month! Plus you get to play online against other people, and you can go online for services like Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, or Redbox Instant. The printing on the card is very small and hard to read, so I have my son read the code as I enter it.

Purchased a few months prior to setting up, had to return it to the store because they forgot to authorize it when purchased. Once it was activated it worked fine. Store gave us the run around, spent an hour on the phone with customer service trying to get it activated, we were told to bring back to the store and they would issue a new on, so we had to go back to the store for a 3rd time. once activated it worked fine.

Again another great daily deal from BB but I selected to p/u n store and they didn't activate the card. a week later and an hour on the phone w/Xbox live they were able to tell me the card was never activated when I p/u the card in the store. Had to make a special trip back to the store to exchange it for another one so they could activate it. again the reviews have this issue spot on.

This is a must have if you have an Xbox, whether its the 360 or the One. This has allowed me to catch up with friends I haven't seen in years. It's great that you can chat with your friends while playing Call of Duty or other xbox live games. If you own an xbox, you are not using it to it's fully potential unless you have this as well. It would be like having a boat but no water.

I was recently gifted an Xbox 360. I have been playing PS3 since the day it came out. I understand that Xbox's online experience is much better than PS3, and spending money to use it is not the biggest deal, but it is weird to pay to use a service another system has for free. ALSO, why in the world should I have to pay to get online to use my Netflix account I ALREADY PAY FOR?

This is sort of a must have for any xbox gamer. It lets you tap into the whole xbox ecosystem and really take advantage of xbox. You can watch netflix on it, you can listen to music and you can play with all different kinds of apps as well as try out new games. they also offer a lot of avatar freebies sometimes. So if you are an xbox fan, this should complete your set.

Bought this thru BestBuy at a great price.....Microsoft had just billed me for my Xbox live account, using auto renewal payment plan. The bill was $65...got this card for I believe $35, added it to my account and went ahead and turned OFF the auto renewal payment....BestBuy has come thru with many great deals, and this was one of them.
