Great edition of the console to buy!

We'd been cautious about entering the current console generation, mostly because of the trend we were seeing of games coming out either incomplete, broken, or requiring the purchase of a season pass in order to have the full experience. However, when Best Buy offered this Tomb Raider edition of the XBOX One, with a 1TB hard drive, both of the modern Tomb Raider games, and an extra controller on Black Friday 2015 for $349, we knew it was the right time to jump in (or "jump ahead", as the Microsoft marketing folks want us to associate with the XB1...). After finally using the console since Christmas, I'm happy to say that it's been worth the investment so far. The system works well, the games we've played on it look and sound great (granted, that's only been LEGO Dimensions and Rock Band 4, so we haven't really pushed the limits of the hardware yet...), and the dashboard, while not as intuitive-seeming as its 360 counterpart, is fairly easy to get used to navigating. Importing our old XBOX Live profiles was really easy, and once we did, the XBOX One "recognized" which 360 games we had previously downloaded that would work with the One's backward compatibility, which I think is pretty cool. The big plus for me with this console is its 1TB hard drive. Since the current-gen consoles require you to install your games (even those that you play via disc media, which wasn't necessary in the 360 era), I knew that it'd be pretty easy to run out of space, especially with some of the more prominent titles requiring as much as 40-50GB of hard drive space to install. Thankfully, this edition of the XBOX One's big hard drive will last us awhile before we'll need to deal with buying an external drive to increase our space. Granted, my experience really hinged upon getting such a great Black Friday deal on the system, but even so, if you're looking to upgrade to the current generation, give this edition of the XBOX One a serious look.

Microsoft has a hit with the Xbox One. It is a full featured next gen console that can serve as your home's main entertainment hub for not only games, but streaming video and music content as well as integration to your cable or satellite provider, It can also play DVD or BluRay movies as well. The one feature that I really like is the ability to stream the console over my home network to any Windows 10 PC in the house. I have the console placed in my living room hooked directly to my living room television, but I if my family is watching television in the living room, I can go to my office PC where I can remotely power up the console and with auto-login set, I can start streaming the console user interface to my PC. A simple USB to Micro USB cord and I can connect a controller to the PC and I am good to go to play games, stream content or take advantage of any other features of the console same as if I were sitting in my living room on the console directly. There is no graphics or response degradation over my network probably because I have both the console and my PC hard wired in my home network. I have not tested the console streaming capability over my wireless network. Another feature I like that Microsoft has been implementing is backward compatibility for Xbox 360 games. Not all Xbox 360 games are playable on Xbox One yet, but Microsoft is adding more every month. I have yet to explore the cable/satellite integration so not sure about all of the features around that. As far as comparisons to PS4, I don't own a PS4, but I don't believe PS4 has any PS3 backward compatibility nor does it have streaming to PC gameplay capability, although I think with a PS Vita you can play games off your console with that device but it is a handheld device from what I gather. For me, those were the main reasons I chose Xbox One.

now that Microsoft got rid of the crazies in charge of no backwards compat and Kinect being forced down our throats glad they got the point we buy a gameing system to play games not watch football while we flkail around like crazies.i refused to get one omn release to many issues with drm on line always no used or backwards compat and that abomination called Kinect now that they went back to focusing on the core audience wich are hardcore gamers who ocasionaly use the apps to surf the net or youtube etc things are on the right track its not a super 60 frames all the time but so far its doing well on games ive bought . if you wanna see what this thing has in store for us get the witcher itll only get better some of the changes dashboard wise yes are very convienient and great some games have no pause etc os takes care of that after a few days youll be navigating everything likew an old pro no hardware issues yet other then headsets and controllers tho they work are very cheaply made and you can tell just holding them id recommend taking advantage of best buys 4 year warrenty you get 2 to 3 years and due to heat and tons of use being on all the time things get wonkey around them so most 1 to 2 year warrentys run out usualy a few months before issues start I'm finding neat new features everyday. and I'm looking forward to so many new games coming and I can watch anime on blue ray or funimation apps etc and the live service is shuge I can link up and play with friends who are literly all over the world and chat at the same time were fighting or exploring for the new price drop and all the new stuff you get now id recommend a one tb 399 console to everyone most come with a new game and one a little older so pick your fave and let the journey begin happy so far plus if something breaks I ghot 4 years

I hate to admit this but I bought the Xbox One a month after its release in 2013 and ended up trading it for a PS4 a few months later. At the time I had more friends on the PS4 and the Xbox One's new menu system didn't sit well with me. Fast forward to early 2016 and I found myself with more friends on Microsoft's platform. I decided to give the Xbox One another shot and I'm so glad that I did! The menu system has changed dramatically, more features have been added, and everything just looks and feels much better. I initially scoffed at the idea of the Xbox One becoming the center of my home theater setup, but I'm a firm believer now. The fact that it seamlessly integrates itself within my home theater is one of its greatest selling points. I love the fact that I can stop playing a game and instantly go back to watching television. No more switching video inputs on the TV! Also, seeing friend updates pop up when I'm watching a show is brilliant. I instantly know when someone is online and wants to play. Regarding gaming: I'm not a hardcore gamer so I really haven't noticed a difference in the video or sound quality when it comes to the Xbox One and the PS4. I'm sure there are differences but I honestly can't say which one is better. I still use my PS4 (in my home office) and I love it just as much as my new Xbox One. However, if I could only pick one console for my family room I'd pick the Xbox One. No contest.

It's nice but don't expect to plug it in and just play. You are required to update everything.. including controllers.. and happy we got the 1tb drive. by the time we are done updating games we might need a new drive. crazy.. it's slow to download as well.. rest of my Internet is fine just the Xbox so a little dissapointed.. the 360 updates don't take this long either.. also dissapointed it only has one USB on the side. so unable to have the plug n play controllers charging at the same time without having to move the box to get to the usbs in the back. front is touch screen so careful if trying to move something while updating.. after 3 hours of updates we finally got to play a game. picture is nice and game runs smooth. we won't be using it for TV stuff tho since we already have a smart tv. would be nice to have a box without all that extra stuff to save space time and money.. Lost my profile with the 360 since it's not tied to a Microsoft account which I'm a little ticked about but will deal. the portable drive we have the profiles on is not readable by xbox1 says I'd have to format well if I do that then I lose it all. really wish Microsoft would keep things backwards compatible... Alot of room for improvement for Microsoft with this one. even our 360 has 2 usbs up front. after its been out so long already I expected more of these things to be worked out.. Dissapointed..

Setting up the machine was easy, although it did require several hours to download updates. (Experience may vary based on your Internet speeds.) The user interface is similar to Windows 10 or similar operating systems, which is to say that it's not the most intuitive UI, but it works fine and can be learned quickly. I have no regrets about buying the Rise of the Tombraider bundle. The single-player game is immensely enjoyable and full of complex female characters. The storyline isn't as good as the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot, but that game's story was off the charts. The sequel is still compelling, it just couldn't quite reach the high bar set by the first game. There are optional missions, challenges, and multiplayer options to keep you playing for many hours after finishing the main campaign. I would highly recommend buying some rechargeable batteries for the controller. I've found that the batteries tend to wear down after about two days of heavy gaming, or about 5 days of mild to moderate usage. Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, Twitch, and many other common apps work quite well on the Xbox One. The shopping experience isn't great for browsing, but if you already know what you would like to purchase than it's very good. (I find this to be a common problem on digital stores.)

I have been patiently waiting for a price reduction on the xbox one since it first came out. My friends all had one--i wanted one. Anyways, i saw this bundle and decided it was time to make the purchase. First of all, you get the terabyte which i think is awesome, i love to install all my current games i am playing and videos and such (I am however letdown that so far i cannot figure out a way to rip cds onto my new xbox. I hope i missed something and am doing it wrong). Second, i really enjoy the new dashboard--it's simple and easy to work (once i figured it out). And lastly, I was going to buy the new tomb raider right away anyways so, thanks for including it in the first place AND giving me a free game of my choice (cod: black ops 3 (of course))and half off xbox live. All in all, this was a great deal and i would do it again and, even recommend it to my friends had they not already been ahead of me in owning the new console. By the way, the new tomb raider so far, is amazing. If you were a fan of the last one to date, you will enjoy this as well.

It took us ALL day to set up this Xbox One. Since when did playing a video game get SO complicated? I had to bring my router in by the box so I could hard wire it with a Cat-e cable to make all the updates & downloads go faster. Faster, ha, really, even with the game disk in the Xbox, it still had to download it. The box came with 2 games that you had to enter a CODE to get them to download. We never could figure out how to do it, so I searched the web twice & tried both of those methods, which did not work. Finally, I found a help number & called it, she didn't know how either, we tried lots of things which didn't work. Finally I asked if I could enter the codes on my computer in the Xbox website, she said yes I could. So I logged in to that site & entered them. Then they had to download on the Xbox, which literally took another 3-4 hours. We started this process right after breakfast & he wasn't able to play a game until 8:00 that night. CRAZY! He wanted an Xbox last year & I didn't get it for him. Got tired of hearing it all this year, so finally gave in, boy was I sorry. I was literally in tears before this whole process was over. If you have an older teenager, they can probably do this themselves. If you have to do it as an "old" adult, you will be pulling your hair out.

I purchased the Xbox one in order to cut my cable thru Time Warner, which is now Spectrum, and got a good deal of $269.00. I have not completed this yet but I plan to sign up for SlingNYtv.com for $20 a month. I currently pay ~$190 per month and am tired of having a bill that high for cable. I will only keep my Internet and dump both the TV and VoIP packages. I will also subscribe to Hulu, and Amazon Prime, I currently have a Netflix account and won't miss a thing...also I will be saving quite a bit per month! I truly am looking forward to the call I will be making on Monday to them, will be awesome! On top of all that I also get a DVD / Blu-ray player and a game console that will get plenty of use! I bought the 1 TB console as a friend told me it fills up quickly! The games played on the Xbox one is very smooth and I have not had a single problem. Looking forward to a few years of enjoyment, until the next generation console is released. In the end I would of been foolish not to buy it for the savings just in cable will pay for the unit in the first couple of months! Only downside is you require a monthly/yearly subscription which is $60 per year, but I already knew that going into it since I also had the Xbox 360 previously.

I had a nintendo when i was a kid. You pop in a cartridge and play, right? I must be getting old. After going through hours of registration, new email accounts, new Microsoft açcounts and passwords for each kid and more, can we actually play this thing... No, my kids aren't 18 yet, so Microsoft wants my credit card to bill me 50 cents a kid to prove I am an adult. I don't think so. Now let's go through hours more of re-registering NEW email addresses, Microsoft accounts and passwords for every kid and my kids are all 18 now. Now we can actually play a game, right?... NO! Now wait all day to download huge system updates that take your 1 TB system down to 750GB and install to memory any game you want to play and, by the way, you're 1TB is now gone. Ah, surely we can play a game now??? I don't think so! The game needs another 1/2 Gig update in order to work. Our first Xbox and I hope the worst is behind us. I admit I don't know what I'm doing, but this seems over the top to this father of 4. My other complaint is trying to find suitable games for my kids. After reviewing most of the current popular games right now on Xbox, I can't believe adults are playing some of these.

Superior to ps4 for all around functionality I own both so this is an actual review. It does not like changing channels on a direct tv box. Controllers are nice. Game play is smooth. Tile interface is a little cluttered. Cortana is neat but sometimes def. Multi-player experience is awesome with kinect added so you don't have to use headphone. Me and a friend 6 hours away can play like we are in the same room. Very well built. Microsoft allows external game storage. Is less expensive comes with larger drive and is more of a home theatre component. Games are a little better in graphics quality than 360 but I haven't played many xbone new games so they may be making more improvement. Ps4 excels in actual game graphics from what i can telland that's about it. I bought it for some exclusive games I like but found that it just doesn't seem to be as bulletproof and we'll coded as xbox. Xbox gets minus one star since all xbox original games and 360 games are not yet playable. When this happens if it does this will be the ultimate gaming machine aside from ps4 exclusive games

Why anyone prefers a PS4 over this is beyond me. PS4 has no 5Ghz Wifi, not backwards compatible, costs more, offers less in terms of PS Plus, and other than Uncharted and Infamous, I'm just not a big fan of the games (that or I just hate the controller). I use my Ps4 as a Blu-ray player just to say I use it. Xbox has better controllers, 5Ghz wifi, backward compatible (still have my 360 which also gets no use) AND can be streamed easily to any windows PC. My ps4 streams to my Vita (which also gets no use. Forgot I had it actually, as well as my PS TV which NEVER worked due to the lack of 5Ghz wifi) but who wants to play AAA games on such a small screen? Also it's missing controls so it's not useful. Bottom line, I originally played my PS3 way more than my 360. I just liked the Kinect. This generation I thought it'd be the same and got the PS4 first. Played it all the time until I finally hooked up the Xbox One.... haven't turned back. Bought this bundle right before the S came out and traded my old 500gb. HIGHLY recommended!

First Microsoft console I've ever owned and I kind of like it. Pros: - Xbox Gold Free Games (Already have Thief, Van Hellsing, Killer Instinct for free) - Easy to set up - Very comfortable controller - The new Tomb Raider games are amazing. - Online scene on Xbox is more active/populated. Cons: -Fairly large system that I wish I could stand up vertical but that would cover the vents. - UI feels a bit clunky. - No headset Mic included so out of the box multiplayer on GTA with friends had me running out to the store again. (Applies to this bundle and I believe the Gears of War one. Guess I should of looked over the box more to see what was included but you normally assume because the Fallout bundle came with a mic.) - Headset selections are limited and pricey. I wish they allowed for USB Headsets to be usable like the PS4 allows so I could use my Logitech G930s but I have to buy another pair of headsets to use primarily for this system.

The XBOX is fine, but the buying experience was laughable. I saw that Best Buy was having a special on XBOX ONE's that included a few games, an extra controller, and a gift card. I thought "Oh wow, that sounds like the BEST deal. I'll go to BEST BUY and BUY that". Wrong. I go to the store and try to buy it and the employees can't figure out how to ring it up. They try for literally 45 minutes before telling me to just buy it online and have it set to pick up in the store (weird, but whatever). They have all of the things on the counter in front of me, but can't figure out how to sell it to me. I then try to buy it on my phone and of course it doesn't work like they said, so I go ask them for help. They look at my phone for awhile and can't figure it out either. I end up ordering it for pick up at a different Best Buy 30 minutes away and driving there. 2 and a half hours later I have an XBOX ONE, a few games, an extra controller, a gift card, and a headache.

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my son. The first thing it wants to do is update. Which was over 1GB. And for some reason it decided to download it again. I haven't figured out the parental controls as of yet, but so far my "Family" accounts have been allowed to buy on the market. Which I would not to like happen. But Oh well. Other then that. Everything else is positive. It is extremely easy to set up. Must have Microsoft accounts, for every player. Each player can set up their own Xbox password sign on. Online gamming does require a fast internet connection. I live in an area where I can only get 1.5MBps internet. Yea, its slow, But PC games work just fine online, while the Xbox games do not even connect to the server. The graphics are awesome. Gameplay is fast and so far I have had no problems with the games freezing or requiring the Xbox to restart. It does get a bit worm though. I put in a cabinet at first, and it got really hot. They don't mention this in the instructions.

I've had this new console for about a week. Just got the chance to play the new Tomb Raider two days. I'll tell you this is a bundle not to pass up! 1TB hard drive including: Rise of the Tomb Raider (digital download), Tomb Raider Definitive Edition (2014 game, also digital download), DLC for some sort of winter outfit for Laura Croft (looks like a heavy duty coat and such from LL Bean not some cheap Wal-Mart knock off), $50 Best Buy gift card, and finally a free game up to $59.99. All for $399.99. I used some of my Best Buy reward zone certificates so my finial price including tax was too dang good to pass up. With backwards compatibility playing select Xbox 360 games arriving shortly - pick up this bundle ASAP. All you Xbox 360 owners holding off - hold of no longer. You won't regret it.

I initially bought the Xbox to game with friends. I am a pretty loyal player to my PlayStation, but since most people I know game on Xbox, I figured I'd give it a try. Overall, the machine plays pretty nicely. I had one issue initially with it overheating out of nowhere and shutting itself down, but since then I've had no problems with performance. I think my biggest complaints are that the controller goes through batteries like crazy, and that storage gets sucked up pretty fast. Having a rechargeable controller would have been nice, and it is something I've gotten used to with PS4. Another thing is that I got the 1TB system, and only have a handful of games and apps loaded on to it, and it has already used up a pretty decent chunk of the memory. But overall, I've been enjoying using it, and I really like the ease of using the game recording and capturing features, as well as the interface.

I took advantage of this bundle for a number of reasons. The Rise of the Tomb Raider, content pack and the Definitive Edition were big reasons. The larger 1TB drive is very welcomed (you'll need it for the pack in games, they're digital downloads). I like downloaded games because it's easy and convenient to switch between games anyway. The shiny black finish of the original Xbone is replaced with a textured matte finish now, which I think is better looking. The New Experience was launched a week after purchase with XBox 360 backwards compatibility and new UI (User Interface), which influenced my purchase. There's more but, bottom line, the exclusives, snappy UI, larger hard disk and Cable TV integration (and TV DVR coming in 2016) are all great incentives for this or any XBox One bundle.

Xbox is a a cheap console and has horrible service

I got an Xbox back in December for Christmas and loved it, sadly about a month and a half later it broke on us, the console would not turn on so we decided to send it i for repairs, the service was not bad and we got it back a month later to realize it was still broken but with a different problem. This is when we started to realize how horrible their support really was, all they did was play the blame game and we got handed off to several different people. finally they told us to send it in for a new one. They sent it back with a letter saying we had tampered with it and we would no longer be helped. Finally today after being on the phone for hours they have basically told us were screwed. If you are planning on purchasing a Xbox don't because we are not the first to find this problem, we have found multiple reviews that tell the exact same story which can only lead me to assume that they did this on purpose.

Well, I finally decided I was in the market for a 'next gen' console. After much consideration I decided on the Xbone. Normally I do NOT shop during black friday, but turns out Best Buy did in fact have the 'best deal' on an Xbone console for a few days. I got the "Tomb Raider" Bundle and not only did a get a 1GB console @ 349 but I got the FREE controller too! Initially that was why I got that bundle, but after sitting down and playing "Rise Of The Tomb Raider" I had to post this and let you know if you're considering purchasing this bundle...DO IT! The game is spectacular. Honestly, I was just rationalizing it as a 'throw' game in to get the free controller and then PU SWBF. Game play is silky smooth and so much fun! Now I'm getting ready to play the 2nd game of the bundle "Definitive Tomb Raider" that I've also heard great things about.
