      Hey there,

We're sorry that you're not quite satisfied with your Xbox One S All-Digital Edition experience. Any Xbox One games purchased digitally should follow you to your new Xbox, but unfortunately physical discs cannot be used with this console. If it's still within Best Buy's return period, we recommend exchanging it for a standard Xbox One S.

even though, as I can admit, it is too bad that this console can't run disks, it doesn't change the console in any way. any physical copy of a game that you could buy would be the same price as one you'd find online, and if you managed to find one at a discount, it'd probably be used, and in poor condition. Microsoft also frequently runs sales on its games, and I you were to find a game online that happened to be really expensive, then just subtract twenty dollars from the actual price of the game, and you have the price it actually stays at. also, by buying the all online edition, your games are saved in the cloud, and can be carried over to the xbox 2 when it comes out and so on. as far as the overall performance of the console goes, I think it Is honestly better then the standard edition, because the games are saved to the cloud instead of being read from a disk. by buying the all online edition, you're also getting a value of 545 dollars (three months of game pass, one month of game pass ultimate, one month of xbox live gold, Minecraft, sea of thieves, Forza horizon 3, the console itself) for 250 dollars. so, by buying the all online edition, you're saving 295 dollars. the all online edition is a great purchase, and is 100% worth it.

As a LONG time Xbox fan and consumer, (I have an Original XBox, 360 and One) I feel XBox dropped the ball on this one. The XBox One S had a great selling point of having the 4K drive. If you buy one on the side you are paying well above the $50 difference between the systems. You also can not buy used games or borrow games from friends, etc. (Ok, your paying less and you know your not getting these feature, moving on) These missing features could have been justified if you put something else in there place. If you are going to go diskless, XBox really NEEDED to give this new console a larger internal drive. I have a 4 TB external drive plugged into my XBox One as games today take up A LOT of space. I have 3 games on my XBox that take up more than 100 GBs each. It would have been a better option to say, both systems retail at $300 but the diskless drive has a 3 or a 4 TB drive so you can really store all of your games on the device. With a 1 TB drive you are uninstalling and reinstalling all the time if you have even a remotely decent library of games. There is ample space in the system shell to add a second drive or have a larger drive. Heck, really give people incentive to go digital by give it a solid state drive for the games you are actively playing with a larger "storage" traditional drive. The Xbox One overall is a FANTASTIC system, however, in its current state, pay the extra $50 and get a disk based Xbox One S and skip the diskless version.

I have 3 XB1s (2 X and 1 S). I bought the XB1S for $199. I have rarely seen the S at full retail $299. You can almost always find it for $250 or lower. I'm a big fan of the XB1 but I tend to agree with most of the other sentiments in the reviews. If this was a sub 100-150 console I would say go for it ONLY for people on a strict budget but at this price I just simple would never recommend this for a number of reasons. 1) As I mentioned, you can almost always find a XB1S for 250 or lower. 2) I realize everything is moving digital BUT I still buy 4K discs because many of the digital retailers don't translate between one another. So you buy a 4K copy from Vudu and it is only HD on Fandango or some other service and vice versa. The physical disc plays in 4K no matter what so the disc player is important. 3) You cannot sell digital games. Until you can sell your digital games I will NEVER fully embrace a digital only world. I don't like how I am just buying the rights to use it and someone else gets to tell me how and when to use it. You don't have this problem with discs. You own the disc and you can sell it because of fair use laws. Digital games aren't subject to fair use like physical discs. 4) MOST IMPORTANT - Microsoft USED to have a policy where ALL digital games family shared (games and DLC). You could buy a single copy of a game and share it with your family. While this is still the case, it is NOT enforced and more and more game companies are coming up with ways to prevent it. This is the single reason I switched from PC gaming to XB. If this were a requirement of the platform, I would feel better but since it isn't and it is getting more and more restrictive, I could never recommend a digital only platform that doesn't have some clear rules on adherence to this platform feature.

I was very hesitant at first to purchase this all digital system. I’ve had my Xbox 360 for years and finally wore it out. As a older gamer, I wasn’t sure of purchasing this over PS4 or the Switch. Also, I didn’t want to drop $1k upon a gaming PC. Upon research on this Xbox One S All Digital system, you can transfer purchased xbox360 digital games via personal account. The majority of all my xbox 360 games were digital downloads. This was the winning point for me along with the reduced price at $249.99 when compared to the current generation of other gaming consoles. In the box: You get 1TB Xbox One S All Digital system, 1 controller, 1 month free of GOLD subscription, and codes for 3 digital Xbox One games - Forza 3, Sea Of Thieves, & Minecraft. This is well worth the price tag in my opinion. Out of all my digital Xbox 360 games, I was able to download 15 out 20 games to my new Xbox One S All Digital. It may have to do with licensing on certain titles. Not bad in my opinion. I still have plenty of room left on the 1TB HDD after downloading 20 Xbox 360 games & the 3 included games that came bundled with the system. Overall I don’t understand what the fuss is about not having a disc drive. It has been years since I’ve bought a physical copy of a game. I guarantee that the next generation of systems will have NO disc drive. If you’re trying to save some cash and want a NEW current generation game console for under $300. , the Xbox One S All Digital is the way to go. I’m happy with my purchase and I recommend the Xbox One S All Digital to anyone. Change is good! Pros: Lowest in price/cost when compared to other current generation console systems. Backwards compatible: Transfer digital Xbox 360 games. New concept: All Digital game console from one of the best gaming companies to date. 3 games & 1 month free Gold subscription included in price. Cons: Need a high speed ISP. Downloads take a considerable amount of time. Patience is needed during long downloads. A 2nd controller should of been provided A budget headset should of been provided.

I am a software developer who decided to try writing a video game. I was ready to try my game running on an Xbox, but I didn't want to mess up my Xbox One X. I didn't need a disk for testing a game, so I thought I would save a few dollars and buy the all digital version. I went to my local Best Buy, bought one of these and started setting it up. That is when I realized that this was much better than my Apple TV 4K for video streaming, playing games, and more. The Apple TV is now disconnected, I went back to Best Buy to buy another digital only Xbox, and not only do I have a console to test my game with but I also have a better streaming device. A lot of the other reviews are bashing this for not having a disk, but if you don't need one, why pay for it?

There’s a lot of negative reviews, going on a whim few of these reviews are from actually owners of the console. I had an Xbox One S, and I absolutely hate physical games I buy my games online for the cheaper price in some cases. You can buy a brand new $70 physical games and absolutely hate it and not be able to get your money back. Same on all digital, but usually after a games been out for awhile you get a Xbox Gold discount I don’t know about you, but I’d rather get a 5-10% discount on a game after it’s out then spent $70 and getting only a resell price of $50 which you could have gotten online to begin with. Not to mention game sharing, which is AWESOME when you buy digital games or your friend does and you both get to play it. To me, it just makes sense for people like me to invest in it. You don’t like, you can always buy one with a disk reader it’s honestly not that serious for it to be getting such awful reviews.

Great console for digital in mind gamers and kids

    Posted .

Dispite the reviews and negativity, Microsoft has seen a large up-tick in digital only gamers, Their XBOX Live Gold games each month and Game Pass keeps alot of us entertained for hours. Now yes, the loss of a phyiscal disc drive or blue-ray drive for alot is a bummer. Could they of boosted the HDD space, add a second HDD where the physical drive was? Sure, but that might be an option down the road. I see this as a secondary system for the Xbox Gamer who already has the console w/ a drive and has been leaning more digital, maybe the "physical drive" xbox is on a TV for the "entertainment" console, and this one is in a bedroom or somewhere else for gaming. ie, keep in mind this is the gamer who is leaning more towards all digital but still keeps a console with a drive as he/she still has physical media. OR this is the perfect thing for Kids!! Getting away from kids touching the physical discs is a godsend for most families and gamers like myself. I cant stand the kids touching my discs. This would force me to go all digital, pay a little higher for faster internet and just download the games we constantly play on the HDD, keep the rest readily available to download. Ive seen reviews how this also appeals to the OCD or folks who are limited on space and cant hold all the games, boxes, etc with physical media. Long story short, no matter how you game, you can easily justify this. 3 Games (also included in GamePass) make up for the difference in cost. I can see this as a $150 Black Friday deal!

The one thing XBox had going for it over a Playstation was the 4k disc player on the One S and X. This system simply removes that disc player. Which means no 4k Blu Rays, no preordering physical copies of games (which often have exclusive content and come with discounts or gift cards), no buying physical copies of games on sale (which is almost always cheaper than digital), no sharing or borrowing games, and no buying or selling used games. They didn't even make the hard drive any bigger as a consolation for taking away the disc drive. Microsoft's response to all the negative reviews says that it is the way of the future and this system gives gamers a choice and value, which is a lie. The regular XBox One S allows gamers to choose between physical copies or downloads. It's also almost always on sale for $250 or less, and has been as low as $200 with free games included. The system with a disc is a much better value and offers more ways to play games and media. That's where the value and choice lie in the XBox lineup. Maybe when these start going on sale for $150 or less it will be a decent value for those who don't care about the disc player, but until then, it isn't worth it.

This is a brilliant move by Microsoft. I'm an IT Developer and know that organizations are very busy switching their applications over to using the Cloud Foundry (PCF- Pivotal Cloud Foundry) as a new architecture. Since obviously the resources are far more scalable easily so the likelihood of a resources shortage or a services outage issues are old things of the past from prior server based architectures. As an old WAS7 based Java Appl developer now converting over to the new tech. This is a good thing. Besides I'm more than sure if you really need to use a disc for the sake of backwards compatibility, just go out and buy one and attach it since the age-old Plug-and-Play will come in handy to take care of that need. What is there to dislike here? Everything has to have a first evolutionary step then crawl then walk then run then Sprints as we well know. I'm happy and applaud Microsoft for taking this first step and is eager to see where they go next with this!!!

I don't understand how this console gives user the "convenience" or choice for their game console. If anything, this console gives you less options. This is an Xbox that has one less option -- no discs can be used. The original Xbox One S can already do everything this console can do. It can play all the digital games, and it can play any game that you have on disc. Also, the Xbox One S is offered at a lower price usually than the digital Xbox. Say someone brings a game over... "Oh sorry, we can't play that game because I don't have the Xbox with a disc drive." Talk about convienience...

Thank you for your input into Xbox One S All-Digital Edition. Just to clarify, Xbox One S All-Digital Edition is being offered at a suggested retail price that is $50 lower than the standard Xbox One S. Microsoft sets an estimated retail price, but specific pricing and offers vary by retailer. It also comes with three popular Xbox One games, Minecraft, Forza Horizon 3, and Sea of Thieves.

If you find this cheaper than the Xbox One S and don't need the ultra hd blu-ray drive/disc games then buy it. You can purchase all the games digitally like you do on a smart phone or sign up for Gamepass which gives you over 100 games. Most other reviews here are just giving this a low mark because they don't like the idea of a digital only system but they aren't reviewing the console itself.
