XBox One S - Gears Of War 4 Bundle

I've been a gamer since I was a kid...and I'm talking about the old Commodore 64 computers. There was a time when I got fed up with updating my PCs to catch up with gaming technology, and so I jumped into the Consoles world. My first one was the PS2. When I sold it, I had a library of about 100 games. I bought the XBox 360, and I fell in love with that machine. A couple of years ago, I the new generation was available, and the choice was a hard one. Not because I didn't want the new XBox (I always thought about getting the next XBox model when it came out). But the thing is that when both Sony and Microsoft newer machines came out, Microsoft appeared to had lost the way. The new XB1 was as massive as my old VCR, and it seemed oriented to the Multimedia fans, rather than gamers. That's why I ended up buying the PS4. A mistake. But let me be clear: I am not a teenager fanboy, or anything like it. I am a married 39 years old guy, that just happens to love videogames. Good, fun, entertaining videogames. I've made that pont clear? Good, lets continue my "story". Like I said, I bought the PS4, and I do have to say that it is a fine console. But the exclusive videogames available for it...they ended up being boring. Except for Uncharted, that is. I ended up playing games that are available for both consoles, like GTA 5. And talking about games, I should also mention that I am a fan of cars. Not just racing, but cars. With that said, the PS4 has no car games that I enjoyed. Sure, Driveclub is entertaining, but nowhere near as fun as the Forza Series. That was the main thing that I missed from my good old 360. So, a couple of months ago, the new XBox S came out. Reading all the reviews and watching several videos on the Internet, I decided that the time to sell my PS4 had arrived. And so I did. Man, what can I say? This is the XBox that Microsoft should have presented back in 2013. Period. It is everything the true succesor to the 360 should be. Have had it for two weeks now, and I absolutely love it. The size of it, the shape, everything. It's as quiet as the PS4, maybe even less. The controllers are the way they should have been from the start. I've read MANY people complaining about the XBox instalation times for video games (compared to the PS4), and they are right. But it is, by no means, a deal braker for me. Graphics comparisons? So far, I can only say that people like to post resolution numbers, and fps like they mean that much. I sincerelly cannot say that games look bad on the XB1. Have been playing Forza Horizon 2 for the last couple of weeks (and it is an "old" game), and the graphics are beautiful. To wrap things up, I've been having more fun the last couple of weeks with my XBox than during the last two years with the PS4. Again, I am not saying one is better than the other one. They are both good consoles. But I do enjoy Microsoft's machine A LOT MORE. I hope this review helps anyone with doubts about buying the XB1.

I've owned all of the XBOX systems since the beginning and they keep getting better all the time. I still have the last version to keep as a backup or to use in another room. Another reason for keeping it was to have the extra controller without having to purchase a new one which would negate any money I would have received as a trade-in. The older controllers will also work on the XBOX ONE S. As for the XBOX ONE S, it's definitely smaller, lighter, quieter, downloads faster from Wi-Fi and the games do play and look somewhat better on my SONY 1080p TV. Eventually I will get a 4K TV to enjoy the benefits of games in HDR and 4K Blu-ray movies but there are too many variations and constant revisions being made at this time. The batteries in the new controller seem to be lasting longer than the previous version. Just buy a 36 pack of DYNEX AA batteries next time they go on sale and you'll be set for a long time. XBOX consoles are great (I also own a PS4) for a number of reasons: great exclusive games, excellent online for multiplayer, backward compatibility with XBOX 360 games, excellent free games with XBOX Live Gold membership, ability to use an external hard drive (up to 2), ability to play games on a Windows 10 PC. I didn't think I would like a white console since all the other components I have are black but it seems to blend in better than expected. One thing to keep in mind is the hard drive storage space when purchasing the different versions. The Operating System data will need 220 GB which doesn't leave much for games and eventual updates unless you get a console with a 1 or 2 TB capacity or an external hard drive. Best Buy recently had a 1 TB external drive on sale for around $50 which is a good deal if you decide to get the smaller HDD console to save some money and need to expand later. You can have games on both the internal and external HDD. This console is a good step forward until the XBOX Scorpio comes out. NOTE: check out the Black Friday sales ad for a good deal on a 500 GB console. Have Fun!

Let me start off by say that if you already have an Xbox One, there is little to no need to upgrade to the Slim model. I knew there would be a hardware revision at some point given history, so I waited. Overall, I am happy with the console. Pros: 1. It does 4K streaming and blurays...which I do NOT care for at all, but if you are into that, good for you. 2. Its super quiet. You will honestly forget its on. 3. No external power brick. 4. Its kind of sleek. The reason I say kind of is that I own 2 Wii Us and they are half the size of an Xbox One S. However, compared to the original Xbox One, its much sleeker. Cons: 1. The UI is more simple than the Xbox 360, but more complicated to use. There are far less menus, but it is sluggish, lags even when offline, and simple things are in not-so-simple places.. 2. Game install are huge. I knew this since the console launched. I do NOT recommend any version under 1TB. Although you can use an external HDD, its just more clutter. 3. My bundle included a digital copy of Gear of War 4. I much prefer physical games as they can be sold and they install much faster from the disk.

Includes Access to Gears War Collection?

Xbox one is a great gaming machine, but I'm disappointed in this bundle. The reason I picked this particular bundle on Nov 24 was it claimed it also "included the entire Xbox 360 Gears of War Collection for download on Xbox One at not additional Cost." Went back to Best Buy because it did not. It only included the code for the Xbox One Gears of War 4 game for download and not the additional 4 games from Xbox 360 that would play as backward compatible. Best Buy gave me the phone number for Xbox Customer support. Microsoft said I would get the codes for the download via email in a week or two. Times up, so I chatted with Microsoft Customer Support on line. They actually blamed the "3rd party retailer," i.e. Best Buy, and said I needed to get the codes from them. (I printed out the dialogue.) Before going back to Best Buy I checked with the Microsoft online store and found the same add (same price and everything except no extra free controller) and contacted the Microsoft Chat support again, and gave them the link to that advertisement. Then they finally admitted that the codes would be going out in "batch format" and that I should get them before Jan 1, 2017. Thing is if Microsoft Xbox support is going to run you around like that, you have to wonder what kind of support you'd get if you have a problem with the console. Anyway, if you are interested in an Xbox one console bundle deal, I'd suggest you get one with a different game.

I already owned the original XBOX ONE 500GB which was about 2 years old but still worked perfectly but I wanted to try the S model to see if there was any difference in performance and have a 2nd console to use in another room. There is a slight boost in graphical performance from the previous model where the games do play smoother and look a bit better. The Wi-Fi download speeds are also noticeably faster. The controller is not cheaply made as a few reviewers commented and is actually better in a few ways such as the buttons being easier to press and better connectivity with Bluetooth. The console itself is well made and a lot smaller but does not look out of place with my other home theater components which are all black, including my PS4. It has quiet operation where the fan makes hardly any noise and produces very little heat. I was also using an external 2TB HDD on my older XBOX and there was no problem with the games being recognized by the new model. I decided to get the 1TB model with Gears of War 4 bundle because of the larger HDD and being packed with a great game. The OS data uses around 250 GB from the get-go so that leaves 750GB for games which is enough for most players but an external HDD can always be added later. I think that this is a great console for XBOX fans which should hold them over until the Scorpio is released. I don't have a 4K TV with HDR (not yet!) so I can't comment on the UHD Blu-ray performance or the game enhancement with HDR but I'm sure it will not disappoint.

Recently purchased the XB1S because I was tired of not being able to play online with the majority of my buddies from the military To be honest, the last time I owned a Xbox was nine years ago (returned it less than a week later). Graphics are excellent, the HDMI pass through is really convenient if you want to streamline your entertainment setup. Not going to lie, but I’m so impressed by the 1S that I’m half way tempted to sell/trade in my (new) PS4 that I just purchased back in April. I’ve been a loyal Playstation user since the first Grand Turismo first came out…but this, this has me against the ropes. There are some small quirks that DO bother me with the Xbox compared to the PS4 though. If you’re looking to do a lot of game recording, be advised that the Xbox has very strong limitations on the length that you can record. And also, if you are looking to record the banter between you and your buddies/other players, it will NOT record for playback (on the native Xbox DVR). Where as, the PS4 is up to 2 hours recording, WITH voice chat included in the track. **I would recommend scooping up the Insignia Xbox One/S vertical stand with the USB ports also. Helps with the ventilation dramatically, and provides 4 additional USB 3.0 ports.

Beautiful looking console. Easy setup, but downloading and installing games does take some time (40 to 60 minutes depending on game) - side note most games allow you to start playing after the game is partially downloaded plus you are downloading or installing the game in the background whereas you can play other games while the game is installing. Expanding backward compatibility for XBOX 360 and Live Arcade - be warned some of your XBOX Live Arcade games may not be presently available. Well ventilated and the power supply is now inside the console. The controller is still the best in the business. It just feels right plus you can purchase the battery accessory with USB charger cable - no AA batteries. Desktop interface is intuitive and smooth. Very few game demos and/or trial versions available for XBOX ONE games. Gears of War 4 is a beautiful 3rd person shooter running at 1080P 60 frames. The gameplay is intuitive and entertaining with really good replay value in the solo campaign (And yes I played the original series on XBOX 360). Visit metacritic.com for a true idea of a game's quality. XBOX Live is XBOX Live - still the best. Hoping for a great Castlevania and/or Ninja Gaiden game to come along. The library of games is strong enough to warrant a console purchase. Dirt Rally is fantastic. Thanks Codemasters! Forza Horizon 3 is stunning! Madden 17 is Madden 17.

It's a really good change from xbox 360 considering that it plays blueray/4k dvds, and that it takes up less space because of the power box built inside. I also love that you can connect to wifi wirelessly. Although it's a really good console, it could use some improvements. You can only play some of the games from xbox 360 and the list is very short. This was a disappointment because the xbox 360 could play both 360 games and the original xbox games. It would be nice if Microsoft could make all 360 games playable on xbox one s instead of having to buy them again. That was my main complaint. In this bundle the vertical stand is not included, and you have to buy it separately even though other bundles do come with it. Another thing that I wish I knew before, is that the controller for xbox one s requires double A batteries and a chargable battery has not yet been made by Microsoft. You can buy the one made by Insignia, but sometimes it can fit too tight in the controller and the lid does not fit right. If you are planning on buying an xbox one, buy the xbox one s because it has a lot of improvemments from the xbox one, which came out first. Other than that, I like it and the color is really nice, but I think a black console would look really cool too.

So far the new Xbox one isn't worth the 300 dollars I paid! It is still a One Player system for most of the games and you need a large amount of space in your hard drive to be able to play multiple games. Its rediculas that I have to download the disk to the console which takes for ever and the Data Consumption compared to the XBox 360 is also rediculas. My kids in 3 day mind you go through 300 gigs of data from Comcast. I had 2 XBox 360's hooked up before at the same time and both of them used less then half the data in almost the whole month that the XBox One uses! This pic is from the first 4 days of January which resulted in me disconnecting the XBox One and locking it up in my room! I will be purchasing a PlayStation next to see which if the two is worth keeping? If both consume the same data I'll just hook back up the two XBox 360's and my kids will just have to deal with it!!

I own both a PS4 and this system. There are aspects of each that I enjoy. Sony has better and more exclusive games and I feel like navigating the user interface is a lot easier and cleaner. However, I like the Xbox controller better and the achievement system better. Their is more flair with the menus and systems on Xbox which makes it more of an exciting experience but what comes with that is more advertisements cluttering your view. There are more options for handling system management with Sony whereas there's more customation for your profile on Xbox. However, I think Sonys themes are are really great. A few things I love about this system are several great 360 games that are backwards comparable and that you can play media easier on Xbox. The console I got was bundled with gears 4 which so far, I love. It's a little slower than my PS4 at running games and booting up. Also, the graphics aren't quite as good but it's not a massive difference. If you already have an Xbox 1 I'd just wait for the Scorpio which is less than a year away and is supposedly a huge improvement. It's a great deal though as it's also a 4K bluray player.

We have played every Gears of War in the franchise and all of them have had at least a few very tough spots requiring lots of practice to get past certain "bosses". This Gears of War 4 game that comes with this bundle is a complete joke. Not only it is not challenging at all, it has got to be the shortest Campaign in the history of video games. I actually felt like I had played a demo. Just when I was getting settled in for the story and the fight, the credits rolled. I would say most GOW took roughly 30-40 hours of gameplay to finish, this probably took 3! It really is that much shorter than the others. Also, GOW had always been a game where you can turn off the worst of the gore and profanity which is helpful with younger kids. GOW4 has the same switches as before but the game just goes on swearing in spots that are just gratuitous. Actually this is the biggest complaint I have with XBOX ONE. There very few games that are not loaded with mature content. On 360, we had many more family friendly titles. Had to upgrade but will probably not get much play time out of the XBOX ONE for this reason. Back to the 360.

My review will encompass my use of the xbox one S with the 2016 Vizio P50-C1. For the most part this combination is great, colors our vivid, movement is fluid, and input lag is minimal (with HDR turned off). That being said there are some small caveats, first & foremost is scaling. Neither the Xbox One S or this TV scales 720p content (& below) very well. Though those resolutions are not as common for modern media, it should be noted there are better alternatives for those who want the best all around viewing experience. Another caveat is the aspect ratio, though this a software glitch that can be patched, as of now when opening an app it will not always align with the border of the TV. Instead it ends up leaving a small strip of green along one edge of the screen. Though not a deal breaker it is not ideal. Though my review above was outlining some of the negatives of the xbox one S with my TV, the negatives are relatively small for the money you are spending. I would definitely recommend this product for anyone looking for 'all-in-one' xbox solution.

The Xbox One S is a nice upgrade from the original Xbox One. It is significantly smaller than the original and it does not have the large power brick, or any power brick for that matter. It is quiet and stays cool while playing games. I also like having a white console for a change of pace, since most consoles are black except for special edition ones. This version also supports 4K video playback via the Blu-ray player or other sources, such as streaming. This is a nice feature for those who have 4K TVs. The console in this bundle has a 1TB hard drive, which is a nice upgrade to the 500GB one in the cheaper bundles. This bundle also includes Gears of War 4, which people will like if they liked others in the series. It comes with one controller, 2 batteries for the controller, and all the needed cables, even an HDMI cable. Overall it is a good bargain for any gamers looking for a smaller Xbox One and 4K video support.

Coming from years of playing Xbox 360, swapping over to PC and then back to the Xbox One recently I am definitely impressed with the new Xbox One consoles. They feel much more up to date and more computer-like than ever before. I would purchase the 1TB Xbox One at a minimum. 500GB hard drive Xbox One's don't cut it due to the fact each game you purchase will take up space on your hard drive. Be aware that game discs you buy must be installed onto the Xbox first before playing regardless of purchasing online or having the physical disc.. (Yes the full game). Doing so does make the game run quicker but it is still a very new feature to the Xbox One. The Xbox One only comes with an HDMI cable for video output out of the box so keep that in mind. All in all the Xbox One has taken a step in the right direction of more modern gaming practices. It's a great buy and is worth the money for sure. Thanks Best Buy!

Plays great, with exceptional graphic abilities. Is small and maneuverable, not taking up much space, and has removed the power brick (which, for me, means less of a tripping hazard). So far, one single downside: the device's internet dependency keeps me from playing games for long stretches of time, due to poor internet availability. I might be able to play for a couple days then the internet goes wonky, keeping me from the machine for a day or two. This causes a real problem for when games must be downloaded or updated through the internet; I've been downloading Gears of War 4 now for two and a half weeks, and thus far it has only reached 11% downloaded. Overall, glad to have purchased it, both for its quality game-play and for providing time to read books while waiting for it to install.

My brother and friend both have one with the Kinect so I got used to how that functioned. I got this without the Kinect, and I have to say that trying to close out of games to play another is difficult and cumbersome. I have to press the center button on my controller 3 times for the right amount of time to get it to take me back to the Dash. I often have to try multiple times to get it right and not ask me to turn off the console or the controller. Plus the Kinect has a bunch of other fun features that work with my cable box and signing in with facial recognition. Also, you should either get rechargeable batteries or a long micro USB cord that you can plug into your controller. It came with 2x AA's in the box. The battery life is better than I remember with older controllers, but I think that's only because batteries have gotten better

Whatever the 'S' is really supposed to stand for does not really matter. Be it slim, super or stupendous, this is a nice unit. It is rather heavy for its size, but many good things in this world are. The console overall is well built, solid and easy to setup, not to mention there is NO power brick. If I could complain about one thing, and I will, it is nothing to do with the hardware or the overall gaming system, it is the bundled game. First off, I have no objection at all to downloading the game, but it was a little slow for me, if it is a bundled pack I would like to see it pre-loaded, if you don't want it, delete it. Also, when you are promised all four of the previous games in the series, include them OR make it more clear you will end up having to wait to get the codes separately. Save for that gripe, love it.

The value that this console provides is the best of any, having the included UHD Blu-ray player and 4K video streaming/game upscaling. Even if you don't have a 4K TV yet, it's a great way to future proof your entertainment if you plan on getting one in the near future. The white color looks very sleak and stands out from other devices. I didn't plan on getting the 1TB versoin at first, but would definitely recommend it now after installing a few games. The only complaint I have so far is that there still seems to be some lag while navigating the menus. Moving the sticks and pressing buttons will give intermittent lag in the dashboard, at least that's been my experience. I would say that this version is the best value, by having enough storage for several games but still a fair price point.

Gears of war 4: This third-person cover shooter is fun, graphically beautiful, AND offers campaign co-op and split screen multiplayer. I liked the story a lot and the multiplayer is a blast. I am new to gears and had an awesome time playing the campaign. Is it the smartest, most cutting-edge game ever? Well, no. But it is pretty great and definitely worth playing. The characters are interesting and I felt like everything was approachable for a newcomer to the series. The campaign mixes things up a bit as you progress. There were definitely a few levels that felt new and exciting. Xbox one s: Brilliant console. Haven't had any issues. Got this at a decent price and love it. Runs so quietly too. Has been able to handle everything just fine. Glad I got the tb space. Buy!

This is our second Xbox One and we're really happy with them both. This one has really changed our game buying habits (more games) thanks to the larger hard drive and now we can share games across systems. The graphics are amazing and it's so much speedier than our other consoles. It also supports multiple external drives so we have one for games and a media server hard drive for movies and music. My only complaint is that Microsoft doesn't have some kind of family network option so we can all play our games on whichever xbox we want. We can share games, but once we start a game we're stuck in that room for the entirety of the game. A better media player for music would also be nice - again, this is a microsoft issue not to do with the console, console is perfect!
