Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the Xbox One S 500GB console's 4K capabilities, graphics, and ease of use. Many appreciate its slim size and the inclusion of an extra controller, along with the picture quality and overall performance. However, some users express concerns regarding the limited storage space and the battery life of the controllers. The relatively small hard drive capacity is a recurring negative comment.

My only complaint about this model is 500GB is way too small. I would go with 1TB minimum. If you can spring for the 2 TB go for it. I've generally been a PlayStation user, right up through the PS3. I decided I would initially skip the PS4 and Xbox one until they showed longevity and got upgraded. I have also, typically bought Xbox machines at the end of their cycle, and I have always liked them. Xbox also seems to start slow and build when they release new machines vs the PlayStation. So I waited to see the new versions of each machine, and went with the Xbox One S over the PS4 Slim. Once again Xbox started off slow, but in these upgrade versions I think it has taken the lead in architecture, Hard Drive Space, and Price. Compared with the original Xbox One, we have a few key differences. Most good, some would say not all good, but as far as the "Cons" go, none of them mean that much to me. However, I have listed them for those who might care. They are as follows: Pros vs. Original Xbox One: 1) 40% smaller! And yes, the difference is very noticeable (see my comparison pictures) 2) 4K output. Not as big of a deal to most people as 4K adoption is not huge yet, and it's only really for video/Blu-ray (games are up scaled) but I have a 4K TV, so why not get ahead of the curve for once (PS4 Slim does not offer this). 3) The side USB port has been moved from the left side to the front, which is great for space saving 4) No gloss finish. As always, glossy finishes look great on day one but do not age well (easily scuffed and scratched). 5) Built-in power supply. 6) Hardware upgrade. In addition to the 4K hardware upgrade (HDMI 1.4 vs HDMI 2.0), there is more processing power available for HDR. 7) Higher capacity. You can now choose from models ranging from 500GB to 2TB. The extra internal space of the 2TB version was a huge selling point to upgrade. 8) The new Xbox One controller with Bluetooth, 3.5 mm Headphone jack built in, and new textured handles. Current Xbox users seem more excited about the controller than anything else! Cons vs. Original Xbox One (Again, I personally couldn't care less.) 1) As of launch, only available in white. I think it looks slick. 2) No elite version for the real game geeks. 3) Does not offer any option of a bundled Kinect, though it has been clear for awhile that Kinect support has been dwindling, and I find these motion sensors to be gimmicks (Go outside or to a gym. Meet someone Jeez!). 4) Does not include a headset, not even a cheapy earbud-style one. The one thing I do care about. All in all I think it's a great buy for these systems, and it looks like it will be around for a little while longer.

I love my xbox one s, I'm so glad I waiting to get the one s instead of getting just the Xbox one. The graphics are insane controller feels great in my hands and the console looks clean and sharp. It's a great buy at $250 you usually pay $300 just for a 4k blue ray player but to get a game console out of it too is a steal and it's got even more potential than that

The xbone S is a big step up from the original xbone. The size, speed and looks are much better. Add in a 4k player and what the cost is and its easy to see the value. The controller is much improved as well. Will I upgrade to scorpio when it comes out? Yes but I plan on keeping my xbone S for my bedroom.

My favorite gaming system of all time

This is easily my favorite gaming system of all time, and I've been gaming since the Atari 2600. As a plus for this version it supports HDR and upscaled 4k (but not true 4k, and there's a HUGE difference between the two) as well as 4k/hdr movies. Huge selection of games, great online, the best controllers on the market, and great performance. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is that at this point you'd do yourself a huge favor and just upgrade to the XBox 1X model, which supports true 4k.

It took some time to try and find out which console I wanted to buy. It was between the ps3 slim and xbox one s. The reason why I chose the xbox was because of the controller and the people that I knew that had it. That's what is comes down to is the other people you have to play with online. The only downside to the xbox is the downloads. You have to download every game you play. It took almost 2 days just to download GTA V and you still have to put the disk in to play. Also your going to have to buy a lot of double A batteries because the controllers eat through them like crazy. Other then that the xbox was a good choice!

I upgraded from my launch Xbox One system to the 2016 S model when I bought my new HDR-enabled 4K television (Samsung 65KS8000). I can't tell a huge difference in games that are being upscaled, but titles like Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4 which use HDR are stunning. The ability to view 4K content on Netflix and 4K Blu-rays was the big seller for me though. System is still whisper-quiet and stay incredibly cool. I really appreciate that Microsoft also went back to physical buttons instead of touch buttons. The updated controller also feels very nice!

This product is a very excellent product for any gamer. It was very easy to set up. If you have a 4K TV and combine this product with the TV, the picture quality is phenomenal. Also, the controller for this unit is excellent. It has enough controls to control the game that you're playing and do everything you want to do with the controller. A well thought out controller. I would truly recommend this product to anyone !

I personally love the console itself, however there aren’t as many enjoyable games for Xbox as there is for the PlayStation 4 in my opinion. On the other hand, the controller is very ergonomic and it’s so nice to use, I just personally don’t prefer this console. But it’s great either way!!

    Xbox One S

Xbox One is 3rd when it comes to gaming consoles, next to PS4, and then PC. Don't get me wrong. I love my Xbox One S, but owning three consoles, I would have to go with the PC, and then moving my way down to the Xbox. One of the best thing about the Xbox One is that you can have an additional External Hard Drive, unlike the PS4. I have a 4TB HD connected to my Xbox One S, and trust me... with all of the games I own, it's still not half way full! Where as the Playstation 4. You would have to buy a 2TB Internal HD and installing things in. I just hate having to break everything apart and putting the pieces back together. Overall, I love my Xbox One S, it's sexy looking, inside and out, the controller looks and feel amazing. It fits perfect with my hands, the UI is gorgeous and simple. Easy to navigate, and the accessories that you can get with the Xbox is point on. Talk about that Xbox Elite Controller tho.

This is a great game/media console. I got it for $250 with a game and it includes a 4k blu ray player. For the price and what it offers you can't go wrong. The controller is much improved too and has more range. Overall happy with my purchase..

I purchased this after owning a PS4 and I have to say I prefer playing on the Xbox One. The controller feels so much better and xbox user interface is much more engaging. I only wish the controllers came with rechargeable batteries since regular batteries last about 2 weeks after heavy use.

Great console and bundle for the price! The games take a lot of room on the hard drive so consider larger drive or purchase an external drive later.
