Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the Xbox One S 500GB console's 4K capabilities, graphics, and ease of use. Many appreciate its slim size and the inclusion of an extra controller, along with the picture quality and overall performance. However, some users express concerns regarding the limited storage space and the battery life of the controllers. The relatively small hard drive capacity is a recurring negative comment.

    Reviewing as UHD/Blu-Ray/DVD player

I won't speak to this device as a gaming console, as I purchased it based upon the salesperson's suggestion as a UHD player. I would urge you to spend your money on a dedicated media player. The lip-sync is off on the console (regardless of which format you use). I followed various on-line advice on how to fix it, and none of it works. As of December 24, 2016, the blu-ray player app is garbage. I've tested each format (UHD/BR/DVD) on the system and the lip-sync and sound is off quite noticeably I then, after purchasing a dedicated UHD player, tested the same three discs and the sound works properly. I also tested two of the discs in a different console, and they worked fine as well. This may be a great game console, but it is a terrible media player. Don't purchase it for that purpose. [A quick search of the web shows that this has been an ongoing issue with the Microsoft Xbox One blu-ray app since, at least, May 2014--I probably should have done better research before making the purchase.]

I got this for my husband for Christmas last year and there are always hoops to jump through. He can’t just jump on and play a game. There is always some HUGE update or download the game he is playing. Waste of money.

The product itself is great however ours was broken so when we returned it for the same exact one the store took away our $30 promotion. Now have a very bad taste about Best Buy. We should be able to keep the gift card as we just needed a working set. I would not recommend the store but I would the product.

No warning provided by the Salesperson that WiFi was necessary and also necessary for the game that came with it as it requires a download. This is different than the previous Xbox 360. I was told it was plug and play. Now I have a boat anchor. Wait. It is not heavy enough for that.

Every single game you buy, you have to install the disc as well which is taking too much of my memory. The Console sucked!

Experience was absolutely awful. Supervisor Gauge ID # 1469181 made the experience worse with his attitude and lack of empathy for Best Buy's failure. Actually blamed me for the shipping mistakes that Best Buy made. Thanks Gauge for confirming for me that Best Buy is not where to shop, Amazon will be getting my Business as soon as i return the 3 Big Screen TV's and 2 XBox One's I purchased

I bought the bundle and could not get the code for the year xbox live. No one at Best Buy or online customer service could help me get the code. I suggest if you buy this bundle have the cashier give you the code while you're still at the store, or you may never get it. The game itself is ok if bought separate.

Santa left the Xbox One S for my son. We remove the 360 system, install the new, put in Madden 17 and nothing. We put in NBA2K17, nothing. We put in Watchdogs 2, nothing. Worst ever on Christmas day! Now how does mom explain why she's taking Santa's gift to Best Buy to be fixed??? Horrible experience.

My brand new Xbox had trouble playing 2/3 of the brand new games I bought from the get go. After spending 4 hours on the phone with Xbox support, I had to send it in to get repaired. None of this was the fault of Best Buy, I just wish I had bought the insurance when I initially bought the system.

Purchased the Xbox One S, it failed immediately out off the box, best buy would not accept the return of the game purchased along with this console, despite the faulty product. I'm left with $60 worth of useless product which Best Buy won't stand behind.

Very disappointed with this purchase. It was a new unit. I didn't set it up until about seven days after picking it up and it worked for ten days before it just quit working. Of course, that was two days beyond the fifteen day Best Buy return policy.

4k blu ray player has major issues

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The 4k blu ray player is clearly one of the biggest selling points and the biggest differences between the xbox one s and the ps4 pro. Unfortunately the 4k blu ray player is horrible. And their customer service is clueless. I bought the movie Eddie The Eagle 4k. It didn't work, so I returned it. Copy number 2, and number 3 also would not work. I found an xbox support forum saying there was a bad batch of blu rays manufactured in early 2016 and a lot of people were having the same issues on a whole slew of other movies. Xbox claimed it was the disks that were the issue not the xbox, and that I should return it to the movie studio for a replacement. After paying shipping and waiting 4 weeks for my replacement from 20th Century Fox, it still didn't work. I read the forums some more and found where xbox admitted their blu ray player was manufactured to a newer spec than older blu ray players and those 4k movies weren't manufactured to that newer spec. In other words, the xbox blu ray player isn't backwards compatible with 4k movies made less than a year ago. Yet xbox still claims it's the disks not the xbox that have the problem. I returned my xbox and got a philips 4k blu ray player. The same disk that would not play on xbox played flawlessly on that. I wish I never listened to the best buy employee and stuck with the 4k player to begin with. If xbox would have just been up front about it, maybe put some kind of warning on the box this wouldn't have been such a big issue for me. But to me it just looks like they won't take responsibility for their bad player and are trying to cover their own butts. Waste enough of your time returning movies until it's too late to return the xbox. Fortunately for me, Best Buy's holiday return policy was still in effect. Also, Xbox doesn't support the most common sound format for 4k blu rays which is Dolby Atmos. They only give you a dumbed down version of it. And I guess they say its coming eventually some day in an update. But everything I found on that was very misleading and customer support is clueless on that as well. You need to be part of a special "preview/insiders" program in order to get it. And they make you think you can join, but you can't. At least not the part that would actually give you Atmos Sound. It's like buying a stereo and only the left speaker works, and they tell you the right one will work with an update some unforeseeable day in the future. To me, that's total BS. If it's being sold as a 4k blu ray player, I expect it to be a fully featured and fully functional 4k blu ray player right out of the box. This one isn't. And their customer service as well as the sales pitch they are promoting are very misleading. At least PS4 is up front about what it does and does not support. Honestly, It would be better to leave out the 4k player than put a bad one in. On a side note, my ps3 that I bought years ago that really started the idea of an all in one entertainment system, never had any issues. Even that will support Dolby Atmos sound on regular blu rays. And it shouldn't be expected to since it's an older system. My PS3 supported 3D blu rays as well, and is still being used on another TV. PS3 did it right when they included a blu ray player. I really wish one of the modern consoles would follow that example with 4k blu rays, but I guess we are out of luck.
