    Exactly what I expected

I finally took the plunge and joined the Xbox One/PS4 generation of consoles. I was kind of a lapsed gamer, only occasionally playing Nintendo games on Wii U/3DS since getting rid of my PS3 and 360. Though I own a Nintendo Switch now, the past couple years I generally wasn't interested in joining this gen of consoles. After Picking up a 4K TV, I started to consider purchasing a PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. However, when I came across the One S for $190, I couldn't ignore this deal for the "lesser" version between the S and X consoles. The console itself looks good. I don't care much for white, but it works, and my Nintendo Switch looks good on top of it. The controller feels great. Though, the d-pad feels stiff and slightly awkward in positioning. Setup for this console is as simple as can be if anyone is intimidated by electronics. Not much else to add here, so what about performance... I don't have much to compare this system against, so the S holds up really well on its own merits. The games I have played run well and look good. I really enjoyed playing Cuphead but noticed minor technical issues--not sure if it's the optimization of the game or the hardware itself. The only slight gripe I have is the dashboard. It seems to be a bit more than the S model can handle and is not always the smoothest experience while navigating--I assume the One X handles the dash smoothly but I don't know. Now that I've had a few weeks with the console, I'm really glad I decided to go with the S instead of the $500 X. It's not to say I won't upgrade to the X in the near future, but I think this will tide me over until Xbox releases its next console or the X receives a price drop.

Okay, so I had to upgrade when the disc drive on my original Xbox One stopped reading discs. That said, I'm going to get that repaired at least so it'll be in my office. The timing was right though as I got this when it was less than $200. But now on to this puppy... I'm really enjoying the form factor on this one a lot. This thing does run smooth and still runs games like a charm. I have a projector setup, though not at 4K just yet - I'm holding out on that format as 1080 is still sufficient for me - and this is still worthy of an entertainment device for sure. What's also useful is how I had my game installs on an external drive so I could do a seem-less transition over. What stinks is that I'll eventually have to get an adapter if I want to use the Kinect on this, and I actually utilized it a few different times (but I'll be honest, it was for voice commands mostly). What also stinks is that the storage space on board is so limited, though that's a common problem. If you have 4K and want super-high performance, then go ahead and shell out for the X. If you are a bit on the "lower end" then this is best bang for the buck. However, I should once more stress that I got this heavily on sale, so yes I can say it's for sure a bargain. Otherwise, if you get a bundle for around $250-300, then go for that!

If you haven't used modern consoles, the XBoxOne (and similar consoles) may just be annoying, so if you buy one start using it quickly so you'll know if you want to return it quickly. Much of the start-up time goes into doing things that are easier to do on a PC. Hand held systems are easier to use and, I feel, just as fun. If you're not already a console warrior then you may be turned off by the set-up time before you can enjoy playing your games. Then again, the struggle may lead to a sense of accomplishment and mystique. I'm just old and not that impressed. Otherwise I recognize that XBoxOneS style consoles have a lot to offer. Otherwise there are better alternatives for your money and your time. 3 relevant things about me: 1) I play games on the PC. The PC is just easier to use, IMHO. Consoles may seem simpler, but that's an illusion. 2) I use the Chromecast ALL THE TIME, and I have a relatively cheap smart phone. The XBoxOne was not a comparable user experience. 3) I mostly play on Nintendo handheld systems due to convenience and fun factor. 4) I have other things that I WANT to do with my leisure time (but don't find myself having enough time for), and so I really cringe at the time messing with the XBoxONe's UI, downloading and installing software, etc.

    Great System, Poor Controller..

So happy with my purchase of the Xbox One. Traditionally I am a PlayStation guy, but my fiancé has really converted met to a full-fledged Xbox'er. Unfortunately I have to take a star away due to the controller that came in my systems' bundle. It does not turn the system on when the "X" is held down. It does seem to function eventually once the system has been turned on and it syncs up. I have also had troubles with it syncing with the console though as well. As I said in my review of the Xbox Controller..I am glad I purchased the extra controller because I am able to use that secondary controller (which functions as it should). I have contacted Best Buy today though, after much procrastination, and they are having me bring it into the store to more than likely be replaced!

I had been debating getting an Xbox One to upgrade my old and outdated Xbox360 for some time, but wasn't sure I wanted to spend $300 (or $250, when that was the sale price for the S), nor did I like the selection of games included in any of the bundles. In fact, I wasn't really interested in a bundle at all; all I really wanted was a console by itself, and was somewhat frustrated that there weren't any options to do just that (at least if I wanted it new, anyway). I was very happy to see in Best Buy's Black Friday deals, then, that not only was Microsoft releasing a 500GB standalone console, no bundle need apply, but at the limited time offer price of just $189; a total steal as far as I am concerned. I picked it up at my local Best Buy two weeks ago, and have been having a total blast playing on it. Definitely would recommend this for anyone looking for an affordable next-gen console, who isn't interested in or doesn't mind not getting a game bundle.

purchased this online for my Grandson to be able to play with his friends when he visits. He loved it. I only gave it 4 stars as it came with a game card which was to give him some kind of access to his game, but it would not work. It said it was expired, We called and I was very disappointed with the help we received with trying to remedy the issue. They advised us we could go online and buy one, a game card. I went to the nearest Best Buy to my location and the manager was very helpful and gave a solution that should work. We will see if it does when he comes again. I love the customer service and products available from Best Buy. Never had an issue that wasn't resolved quickly except this one. Otherwise he is happy with his gift. Would Recommend Best Buy for all you electronic needs & Geek Squad rocks

    Great console & Blu-ray player

I initially bought this because I was looking for a new UHD 4K Blu-ray player. The price of this ($189) was around the same price as the other basic UHD 4K Blu-ray players out there! But this is a full console on top of being a UHD 4K Blu-ray player. So... it's been great so far (I've had for about 4 months now). Amazing UHD 4K Blu-ray player (you have to download the Blu-ray app) and a fun console! The only downside is that all the Xbox One S games for this, you have to download first before you can play them! Even if you have the disc, there's still a BIG download that has to take place first before you can play your game. So make sure you have a fast internet connection, patience and maybe start the install hours before you actually want to play your games. Other than that, once you play, it's so fun!

    I Prefer the PS4

The graphics are on par and so are the games. My issue with the Xbox One systems is the ridiculous installation and update times. PS4 includes required updates on the game discs but Xbox forces you to connect to the internet to download extremely large files before you can even play. I can play a new PS4 game five minutes after I insert the disc but with the Xbox it takes as long as multiple hours. You are required to have an internet connection even if you do not play games online. I bought the system simply because Forza 7 is the best (arguably) driving game available on any console. There are plenty of issues with Forza's messenger and online system too. Overall, I'm not a huge fan of the Xbox One.

Not my favorite console but a very good price for what it is. Especially waiting forever to set it up for my boy, updates etc. even with an excellent internet connection. The UI is still very quirky and unsteady, graphics still are very sup par compared to PS4, and PC. Many games run at 720p to 900p which I still don't think is acceptable. But most people don't care. I bought this one for my son, I still own the FAT Xbox 1 (actually mine seems to run smoother) and use it mostly for a multimedia device which this aims for. More so than a hardcore gaming device. I'd recommend PS4 for it's exclusives and higher resolutions. Or for the really hardcore folks, get the X, which is pricey, but will have 4x the performance. Then again for 189$ it's a good/average system, for what it can do. ;o)

Purchase the Xbox One S to replace my original Xbox One so I can enjoy 4k gaming with my new 4k television. Honestly it feels like I made a major upgrade but at the same time a bit of a downgrade. I say that because of course the 4k feature along with the subtraction of the power brick is a high plus. The fact that it is smaller and a bit lighter is a plus. The USB in the front oppose to being on the side a plus. Build in ir blaster, plus. Brushing by the power button will not turn the system off, defiantly a plus. As for the negative, it does not have a kinect connection which I find odd but not for Microsoft I guess. Now I have to buy an adapter which will cost me an additional $50 if I want to use my kinect. Other then that, I love my Xbox.

First off id like to mention that I already have an Xbox One system. Our living room bluray play crapped out on me and I decided to get this unit since it has a 4k player as well. I figured I would cover myself there for future TV upgrades. The issue is at least for me the DVD/Bluray player on this thing sucks! I has failed to recognize a few movies so far and wont even read the disks. I bought this because I always read that the Xboxs have always had good bluray players in them when compared to stand alone models. This isn't the case for mine. It sucks. I don't know if its the hardware or the software for the player but its definitely not what I expected for the price.

I was looking to get a PS4 that midnight on Thursday of Black Friday and to test my luck, but the $ 199 PS4 offer were obviously gone in a blink of an eye. I saw the next price available for PS4 at $ 299 which it was a bundle. After going around I saw this XBOX ONE S, 4k Quality and then it hit me : Why the heck will I spend money on a PS4 at $ 299 non 4K when I can actually just switch for the first time to microsoft and get the amazing XBOX ONE S with 4K quality and much more !!! Couldn't resist the amazing cheap price of $ 189 and so I took it and got the amazing and brand new FIFA 18 game !!!! BEST PURCHASE EVER AND WORTH SWITCHING FROM PLAY STATION TO XBOX !!!!!! Cheers everyone !!!!!!!!

The Xbox one S is an excellent console, it is fast and looks sweet sitting by my tv. It is much smaller than the previous xbox giving you more options of where to put it and it is much lighter however it still runs cooler than the previous xbox and has better graphics. On the other hand, the graphics are not much noticeably better if you don't have a 4K tv, the graphics are still better don't get me wrong but this xbox really shines when paired with a 4K tv. Overall it is still an amazing console and i would buy it again.

I got this on sale for a good price. Since I already have PS4, I can compare them now. I like the PS4 user interface more, but everything else is pretty much the same. I could not notice any differences in games graphics. Other than that, I like the Xbox console and controller design more, and it is nice to have the 4K blu ray player. One thing I didn't like with Xbox is the account. The console I bought came with 3 month game pass, which allows you to play some games free while you have the game pass, but it is useless for some multiplayer and online games, unless you buy additional gold account. On PS4 you have only one type of account for free and multiplayer games.

Bought the console for every now and then gaming, and mainly for the Blu-ray player. You can not complete set up without internet - no function at all without WiFi or hard line. Have to install Blu-ray player from Microsoft store (free), and this lesser of the consoles does not have "true" Blu-ray capabilities like the more expensive console. Getting Microsoft account and security settings set up was a pain in the ace - not a gamer so it could have been me. Overall does play Blu-ray discs and the few split screen co-op games we could find are fun. But, would buy the more expensive console if I could do it again.

Bought Xbox One last year to keep at home for grandkids and only one item had me wishing I bought them a Play Station. Microsoft required annual Gold membership (roughly $70 per year) to use Xbox for HULU, Netflix, etc. About a year ago Microsoft wised up and removed restriction -- they gave games away each month as incentive that were junk and guess could not sell. Not one game was ever played by any grand kids from Gold membership. This year bought Grandson this with several games... would definitely have bought him PlayStation if Gold Membership was still required. HE LOVES THE XBOX ONE...

We recently ordered the Xbox One S on the cyber week deal. We chose the Xbox One S because the deal was great and I do enjoy Halo, but the bigger reason is it’s a great media hub for streaming. It works way better/faster than our Sony blu-ray player and Roku. My wife and I aren’t big gamers, but we do enjoy playing from time to time. Since buying this Xbox, we’ve played almost everyday for weeks. My only complaint is that pretty much every game has to have an update downloaded before you can play it. Best Buy’s order process was seemless and shipping was free and quick.

This was purchased for my nephew during a one day sale so the price was spot on. I'm personally a playstation guy but have warmed up to the xbox. The 500gb is a bit small as the best way to get the most bang for you buck is to buy games digitally but with the option to add an external hard drive spending less on the smaller unit is a no brainier. Easy set up to play online there is a separate fee to pay but that is the norm these days to bleed the consumer dry. I would recommend an external hard drive for games and rechargeable batteries for the controller.

I’m more of a PlayStation person but, I got this so my brother and I could play online together. It’s great that it’s so small and doesn’t have heating problems like the 360 had. On top of that it plays everything in 4K which is great since I have a 4K tv. Only downside is the limited access to certain things, such as the hard drive is a mission in and of itself to upgrade to a higher capacity. Also it isn’t really very easy to move your saved game captures such as your own game play, to an external drive to put on your computer.
