Many appreciate the improved performance and ease of use, along with the quieter operation compared to previous models. The new Xbox one S is faster and smaller in size than my old 360. Just love the speed that it has .If I had to do it again I would have bought the one T rather then the 500 g. New games require lots of memory.

The XBOX One S is what the original XBOX One should have been. The smaller size is aesthetically pleasing and it's nice not to have a huge power brick. Microsoft was smart to include 4K capability.

The Xbox One S is definitely an upgrade from the Xbox One (and if you have only an Xbox 360 or a PS3/PS4 - the Xbox One S is also the upgrade for you). It's white, it's slim, and it is fast to boot up from sleep. With support for 4k HDR TVs you'll be set for the future. Current games like Destiny and Recore look amazing; as more and more game developers embrace 4k HDR we'll be fully able to realize the power of this console. Meanwhile, the apps available on the Xbox One S continue to impress - and some support 4k! The controller itself is upgraded from the original, and supports Bluetooth. All said and done - this console is a must-have if you are on the market for an Xbox!

If you already own the original Xbox one like I do your not missing out on very much but the slight improvements to the controller (Bluetooth & Grip), the size of the console and the new 4K rendering it can provide. I would recommend upgrading though unless your waiting for project Scorpio next year. The start button the Xbox is a physical button now. I noticed it doesn't overheat as much as the original. Not having a power brick is a plus, just simple cord. It comes with everything the original one had as far as port except for the Kinect. You have to buy an adapter for Kinect if you wish to use it, not a problem for me since I never owned one. The usb in the front is more convenient than the one they put on the side before. Overall, I think it looks better than the original and performs slightly better as well.

Noticeable speed difference in everything from games to just browsing the store. They really made a major upgrade to a product that really needed a revamp. I feel as though this is what the One should have been from the beginning. If you don't have an Xbox, don't buy the original on sale, this console is the One you need. Everything just runs better, and the 4k movie experience is a huge plus. My roommate has an original One and the side by side performance difference is actually pretty staggering. From powering on to launching a game, the One S is faster by about a minute. I was very impressed.

Great console for 4K Blu-Ray

Originally bought the console for 4K Blu-Ray since the PS4 does not have said feature. The UI took some getting used to as it is the first time I have ever used an Xbox but quickly learned it as a first time user. Loved the fact that some videogame titles support HDR. The use of rechargeable AA batteries has not been an inconvenience despite this being my first Xbox console ever and switching from a Ps4 that has controllers with built in batteries. Would definitively recommend this console as a media consumption device and/or for a first time videogame console.

A great deal at expense of a lot of memory usage.

As a purchaser of this item:
500 gb is not the total number of actual memory you will have to begin with. The memory available to use for storage is actually 362 gb. With all five halo games installed you will have used already around 60 gb. Depended on the user, this system's hard drive is made for for no more than 15 games, if each game consisted of 30 gb needed to install. However, an external hard drive could allow more games to be installed.
There might be some glitches when alternating the home page menus, but they are not to bad.
Never owned an Xbox One, but I suspect if it were compared to the Xbox One s, s would have slight advantage as far as space and integration.

It is not worth the upgrade if you do not have a 4K TV, but the fit and finish of this newer model is amazing.
The size of the xbox, the matte colors, the new controller, it is all an improvement.
I love its new physical button. My dog sniffing around the console has turned off my xbox on more than one occasion. Not an issue anymore!
They knocked this one out of the park, especially the new controllers.
If you're new to xbox one generation pick this up!

I actually don't care about the 4K video because it'll be ages before I catch up to that. But I'd been on the fence for 3-4 yrs I guess on this console. Backwards compatibility, small size, integrated power brick, and the PRICE finally got me. Plus, Destiny wasn't supporting XB360/ PS3 anymore.
Not bad finishes/ industrial design, but nowhere near as stylish as some have written. Controller feels a bit light and plasticky compared to XB360. Don't like that the disk goes in by unseen rollers, I'm expecting those to get dirty and cause problems someday...
But am happy w/ the thing.

I own a 4K TV so that's the main reason I decided to pick it up besides the obvious ones. The form factor is wonderfully compact, the new controller is much easier to sync and the fact that it offers 4K blu-ray playback is amazing. There's almost no reason to purchase the Samsung player so they need to slash the price on that one as fast as they can. Can't go wrong with the system at this price and power.

Picked up my new XBOX one s last week. Never been a gamer but since this device doubles as a game and video console it is an incredible bargain right out the box. Now my grandson can have his video games and I can watch my 4k blurays. The 4k player works great. People who purchase this device mainly for 4k should remember to get the best picture they should own a 4k tv with HDR. I played a coulple of games and the games look great and soon as I become a better gamer i am sure I'll enjoy that more. This machine also has all the major streaming apps(netflix, amazon, hulu, hbo now and hbo go. It does play cds and has a usb port. I have the 500 gb for 299. What a bargain!
