Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the engaging gameplay, compelling story, and innovative Nemesis System in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Many also praise the game's beautiful open world and responsive controls. However, some players find the difficulty challenging, and a few note limited replayability after completing the main story. The game's strengths clearly outweigh its weaknesses for most players.

i had bought this for myself when it came out, loved it, decided to get it for my sister as well, she loves it, the story is great, while it does take liberties from the tolken lore, it is still great, also it borrows from other games but actually does it well, like batman arkham asylum, and assassins creed.

I bought this the day after I played it at a friend's house. I had heard of it and had some interest prior, but once I played I had to have it. Graphics are excellent and the combat is absolutely gratifying. A great game with a lot of content. I haven't played any of the DLC, so I can't comment on that.

Fantastic leap into Tolken's universe with a story that while it can fit into this universe it complements nicely while still keeps things fresh. Excellentvisuals and combat system allowing you to gain strength with every victory, but beware that you're enemies grow stronger as well with your every defeat! New lore keeps you interested in what you're doing in the game with monsters, and creatures, and side missions and maps somewhat familiar with assassin's creed. One frustrating thing would be getting quickly overwhelmed at times by the massive amounts of orcs and the occasional war chief that will join with other war chiefs to overwhelm you. Otherwise and overall enjoyable game.

SoM is a great entry into the action adventure realm. Offers solid gameplay and new features including the Nemesis System. Decent length, solid voice acting. A little difficult when enemies pile up, but you are offered many ability bonuses.

I am not at all a fan of Lord of the Rings, but this game is great. Imagine Batman Arkham games meets Assassin's Creed. The combat is very similar to Batman, but the climbing and overall game feels similar to Assassin's creed. Really great game, highly recommended. One of my top games of 2014.

Is this game perfect? No. But wow is it a ton of fun. Loved the action and the upgrades the player can earn. The combat evolves from fluid, Batman Arkham-style romps to you just being a machine as you unlock greater and greater powers. The side missions were generally fun and worthwhile, too. And then there's the whole system in which you can develop rivals who remember you and will come after you. This really gives an otherwise open world an appreciable hint of chaos. The story was a bit confusing and lacked a spark, and there are some occasional control issues, especially with scaling, but the breadth of the experience far overcomes these flaws.

Game is well made, solid gameplay throughout. Graphics were a little on the dated side, but the controls and fun factor of hacking and slashing were good. My only complaint is that the game gets very repetitive after awhile, and takes a lot of the same missions to upgrade. Didnt finish the whole story mode, but had a lot of fun playing what I did.

Objectively, this is a good game. The combat system is fun, the vistas are gorgeous, the lore is preserved and it has a killer unique selling point: the nemesis system. However the gameplay is somewhat off. I find that the camera is too sticky and managing crowds become a chore after a while. I would definitely recommend for 20$ (I paid 24$)

I was finished this game in three days (and I rarely play games that much)! My only "dislike" was that I got through it so quickly. It plays like Assassin's Creed only with more skills that you have to learn. Also, once you do beat it, there are still a lot of things to do.

This is the best game I've played on the PS4 so far. The graphics are better then anything I've seen. The story line is good and the controls are easy to use during battle.

A Great title by WB Games. The game plays like an easier open-world Arkham Series Game mixed with a little Far Cry. While you wont find any any puzzles the easy to learn / complex to master combat provides a stronger sense of action and power than one would expect from a Arkham title. The combat is almost exactly the same as Arkham in the basic structure; a rhythm and timing based system that rewards high combos. A very easy game to pick up and play a few minutes without having to worry about getting sucked in. Quick load time and being thrown instantly into the combat filled open world s a big plus. But don't expect to be enthralled in the boring main characters, most of the personality comes from the enemies thanks to the incredible Nemesis System.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is a pleasant surprise. It truly is a great game with an immersive storyline. I went into the game not expecting much in terms of quality, considering the last few Lord of the Rings titles, but this one is very good and should not be missed.

Gotta say I was a little uneasy after play War in The North since I had the choice of choosing one of three classes...but Shadow of Mordor...love it. Gives you a little back line story of The King...you love LOTR and RPG. Then get this game, you won't be disappointed.

If you want to know what all the hype about this game is about, do yourself a favor and steer clear of the PS3 version, which is ported and has a pale imitation of the groundbreaking enemy AI that makes this game so awesome. The PS4 version is breathtaking - get it!
