Gameplay wise, certainly feel better. Everything is fleshed out from the previous game: skills, movement, and even the Nemesis system. This installment brought life into the Nemesis system, more interaction with your followers. Graphic however is not as detailed though.

Still loving the nemesis system. The game seems to have evolved from the first. Not liking the loot boxes seems like a money grab. But if you like playing the game and not rushing it you will level nicely and theres no need to purchase the loot boxes.

Even better than Shadow of Mordor. If you enjoyed the movies and like games similar to Assassin's Creed this is definitely a must play.

Ignore the hate online, it is just click bait. This game takes everything great about the first and expands on it. The growth of the nemesis system is the largest selling point, however. You will be making your own allies and spies as you grow your army to challenge Sauron and along the way you will have to be aware of betrayl and the return of vanquished foes looking to return the favor.
This is a fantastic single player experience and a must have for any action/adventure fan.

The team at Monolith caught lightning in a bottle with Shadow of Mordor. Despite low initial sales, the original take on Tolkien's epic universe connected with fans due to engaging gameplay, immersive graphics, and the groundbreaking Nemesis system. I recently played through the original in anticipation of the sequel's release, and I experienced all new characters and interactions.
Enter Shadow of War, and the forging of a new Ring of Power. While the storyline is not quite as tight as the original, the gameplay and set-pieces are bigger and better. Orcs are more diverse, Olog-hai are mountainous threats, and the environment is more sprawling than ever before.
A lot has been made about online purchases and "pay to win" microtransactions. You don't need to spend a dollar more on this game to enjoy it or get to the real ending. Like many Action-RPG games, there is a grinding element in the mid to late game. Be ready for it, and don't shy away from hunting collectibles or engaging in the Nemesis system. If you only spend $60, you'll more than get your money's worth.
Why it can be repetitive, I found the fighting mechanics to be just as fun as the original. There is a real rush when you've taken on 50+ enemies in a sudden ambush only to emerge victorious.
If you liked the original, this is a no-brainer. If you didn't like the original, wait for a sale.

This game uses a technology that no other game before it has used called the nemesis system (except for the game that this studio created before it). It is called the Nemesis system and you will be blown away by the computer A.I. that this game displays (enemies you kill or get killed by will remember all the details of that encounter.) You will not be disappointed. This game is a must-buy for the fans of Middle earth and fans of games in general. Buy this game now.

Talion has a much bigger world to work through this time around, and is tasked with building an army to win against the dark forces, but now he must also protect his own area(s) too. Combat is fluid and not cumbersome, and use of on-line vendettas allows you to level up quickly, but not too easily. While the story is not the meatiest, there is enough there to keep you moving forward, and plenty to do other than wandering the world killing and controlling orcs!

Shadow of Mordor was my favorite games, so I was very much looking forward to the sequel. However, it feels very unpolished and rushed, and the entire of Act 1 (several hours) is poorly designed and paced. The Nemesis system and core combat is still as fun as ever, but everything else they added (even the Fort Assaults) are mediocre at best, or boring or janky at worst.
It's not a terrible game, but it seems like a massive step down from Mordor...

I had a lot of fun with Shadow of Mordor, and this game is all that and more. More enemies, more missions, more area to explore, more moves, just more and more. A lot of hub bub has been made about Loot Boxes, but I have yet to feel the need to crack one open (aside from the ones I got for free). I do recommend playing on Nemesis mode if you're looking for a challenge. It turned many of the battles into strategic hit and runs and prevented me from feeling OP.

Shadow of War will feel very familiar to fans of the first Middle-Earth title in recent years, for better or worse. The amazing Nemesis system is back again, but instead of drastically new elements of it, more ways to take advantage of it are added, which somewhat bogs it all down and makes it somewhat confusing. The story missions vary from amazing to glorified tutorials, and tend to drag on a bit. Still, the moment to moment gameplay is very fun, and when a plan utilizing the Nemesis system comes together, the output is very satisfying.

This game is awesome! It can get a bit repetitious, sure, but personally, killing orcs in the LOTR world will always be fun for me. After a while, the powers that you unlock for Talion make you feel pretty overpowered without breaking the game. The orcs level with you, so the challenge stays pretty consistent. There are a few great cameos from other LOTR book/movie characters too. All in all, it's an awesome game.

This game is a lot of fun. If you enjoyed playing Shadow of Mordor, you will definitely like Shadow of War. The game is fun and a little challenging. If you follow the reviews, there is a lot packed into the game. I have about ten hours invested in the game and I really like it. You start off with the siege of Minas Ithil which is a Gondorian outpost. Here your stealth abilities get tested and I thought it was a lot of fun. There are a ton of Captain's to kill and I have leveled up very fast and have really good gear so you don't have to get bogged down in microtransactions. You won't be sorry with this game.

So the game is great. The controls are easier than before, the missions are awesome, and the content is top notch.
Now the bad...it's repetitive. Even worse...is the way they took a left turn on the actual history of the Rings. They lightly adhere to the Silmarillion but then the game designers went off script and wrote in some things that make you go...huh?
All in all, great freaking game!

So much more to do in this sequel, many more features added on top of an excellent combat system. You will put anywhere from 50-80hours into this game
