Midsommer again lives up to its reputation as England’s most murderous (non-existent) county. Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby and Sergeant Wintersolve 6 episodes of frequently multiple murders. And murder can happen anywhere in Midsommer, including a spiritualist convention, a vacation camp, and during Gilbert and Sullivan. (Harry Potter fans will recognize the guest actor in the vacation camp. As will those of Inspectors Morris and Lewis the guest actor portraying “The Modern Major General”.) All stories are well written and well acted. The attention to detail is excellent including a more serious attempt to portray crime scene procedures. (Midsommer has been lightly criticized for subordinating actual police procedure to the need for a “good story.”). All episodes are very enjoyable.
