Saw this on HBO, and was thrilled that I could purchase on DVD. Now I don't have to wait until it airs again. I can watch any time! Kate, as always, is spectacular in this mini-series. It's a must-see! Not for young people/children.

Mildred Pierce on blu-ray is a decent way to kill time. I thought it was pretty slow. Great acting.

Does not deserve an NC17 rating.

I was most surprised by the DVD getting an NC 17 rating because I saw this when it was on HBO and it certainly wasn't any worse than the movies you see in the theater that get an R rating. For those of you who saw the original Mildred Pierce movie with Joan Crawford, the story is different from that one but still very good. Winslet as Mildred Pierce is a much softer character who you can sympathize with more than the Mildred Pierce of the original movie. Winslet does a marvelous job in the role as she does with all of her roles. Guy Pearce is well cast and also does a good job. The daughter is played by two actresses as over the time span of the movie she is a little girl that grows to womanhood and she is also very well acted. It is a great film.
