It's not bad. I use it with an external keyboard that is on my desk, with the laptop raised above the desk. The space underneath the stand (between the legs) fits a full size keyboard. I wouldn't recommend it if you plan to type with the laptop keyboard, because it would be a bit more wobbly than is comfortable when typing a lot.
Be careful with the legs though, they're easy to break if you pull them apart.
