A great talking film with Charlie Chaplin. I believe I had never seen a talking Charlie Chaplin film this one is really good it’s a murder suspenseful, funny, sad.it’s got all the emotions any motion picture could give you. I recommend this film for the whole family

Chaplin extends his range in this atypical performance. He proves he could star and direct in a film with much darker tones, moments of Hitchcockian suspense and dramatic beats. Orson Welles originally wanted to direct and talked Chaplin in to taking the film, which would have been wonderful. As it is, it is still an incredible movie for fans of its star and lovers of fine film. Criterion once again offers amazing video, excellent features and wonderful overall presentation. Buy it!

Chaplin is back, but this time he isn't playing the his classic character. This time he is a modern Bluebeard murdering women for their money so that he can support his family. Chaplin and his cast are great in this misunderstood and rejected film. Over the years, it has been re-evaluated as the masterpiece it is and now The Criterion Collection has released it as part of their esteemed collection. Highly Recommended.
