This is just an extension of a legendary career by Kiss. The music sounds great, the quality of the sound is great, and Kiss can still write some catchy melodies after 20+ albums. That alone is amazing. The CD for the special price was very fair. Sadly, it did not contain the bonus song which is why i bought it from Best Buy. I did not bother trying the get the $5 gift card. It still won't get you the song, but to each his own. I like holding the physical CDs instead of just having the DLs from iTunes. When I get a new machine transferring the music to it is easy. Again, to each his own. I like having Brick and Mortar Best Buy around and when the price is close I will buy from them all the time. You can't go wrong with the CD if you are a Kiss fan. My kids love the 3D CD Cover, and after 30 years, I still love KIss. Rock on!

Life long fan but in recent years starting to see past the flash and balls. After several listens it has grown on me and it is a return to the sound we haven't heard since Revenge. Could have used less riffs sounding like the past but good overall.

This album is one of Kiss' best! Outside of Love Gun and Dynasty, this is my third favorite. The 3D cover is pretty cool and I have yet to receive the MonsterFanClub items. If you want the 13th song, don't purchase this. It doesn't come with it. Best Buy will however send you a $5 gift card because of it.

This is seriously one of the best KISS albums of their career. No filler. Every song has a hook. Every song rocks!! A harder edge than Sonic Boom. KISS is definitely back and as good as ever.

I really liked the album... it sounds like Kiss which is a blessing and a curse. I wanted to hear new music by Kiss, but I wanted to hear Kiss all grown up at the same time. I got half my wish. Still, accepting it for what it is, I am happy with this album.

Doesn't fill me with glee like KISS did when I was an adolescent. But to be fair, it is KISS and sounds like KISS.

Ive been a KISS fan for 20+ years and I must say the songs on this album will go down in KISStory as some of there best. Its kinda like classic KISS meets new KISS but there is also some really different flavours in there too. I hear some Stones, The Who, Cream, all those 60s and 70s legends. Love KISS and MONSTER will be top 3 for me!!!

I can't get enough of this music! When Gene and Paul compare Monster to Destroyer, they are right this time. I hear Mr. Speed from Rock and Roll Over as well! Classic rock and roll the way it was supposed to be, FUN! Eric Singer's song All For the Love of Rock and Roll is one of the best tracks. Oh, I am a FREAK! Awsome track!

New Kiss CD Monster is excellent.

Monster is everything it should be, excellent, in your face hard rock 'n roll. It's easy to listen from beginning to end. Great hooks, great guitars, great drums, I can't find anything bad to say about the songs. Not a bad song on the CD. There is no other rock 'n roll band better than Kiss, past or present and this CD continues to prove that statement. I just wish Best Buy hadn't teased us with the 13th song they left off.

    Where's the bonus track?

Love the album but a little miffed. Since there's not a Best Buy in my town I had to drive out of town to pick up the cd just to get the Best Buy / iTunes (I own an Android device) exclusive bonus track, "Right Here, Right Now". I looked at the track listing before my purchase and it wasn't listed. No big deal, bonus tracks aren't always listed. Lo and behold I get the cd home and no track number 13! As for the rest of the album, it's great. I just wish it was complete.

This is not your typical KISS record!

This is one of KISS's besct cd's to date! It doesn't sound like your typical KISS cd. This thing rocks all the way through. I hear at least 3 singles off this cd. I really like Eric's track: "All for the love of rock n roll". Gene's bass playing is thick and buttery with great hooks that remind me of the early days, the guitar playing is great as well. Tommy seems to be playing more of his style and not so much like Ace. Speaking of Tommy, "Outta this world" is a good song, but some of the riffs remind me of "Mississippi Queen" (great song). This is a solid Rock album, even though Best Buy offered it with a bonus track (the main reason I purchased it from them) that doesn't exist on their version. Thanks for nothing Best Buy!

Best Album In Years..Too Bad No Extra Track

    Posted .

The album is the best they have done in at least 20 years. The songwritting is better than expected and the music is heavier than the previous album Sonic Boom. The classic influences are there with hints of the 70s and 80s but this is pure KISS. This is the way they should sound for 2012. Only drawback is the fact that Best Buy shows a 13th bonus track but it doesn't exist. So if you want that 13th track I guess you must download from iTunes. You do get the 3D cover which is cool and a bonus code to get a keychain, membership card and bracelet as well as 25% Kiss merch so that can make up for the false listing.

    A True Effort...No More Parody!

I've been a KISS fan since 1976 and have seen every tour from Dynasty to now, so it is with some regret that I say, they should really take off the make-up (again) at this point. "Monster" is a solid release that legitimizes the current line-up and distances itself from what they were trying to accomplish with "Sonic Boom". The band finally found "their" (this incarnation) sound on this disc, like they did in days past, as opposed to trying to mimic the glory days. On "Sonic Boom", they tried too hard, especially Tommy, who was nothing more than an Ace clone who approached the material from the perspective of a member of a tribute band (which he was in) rather than a member of the actual band he was mimicking. Maybe it was Gene & Paul's doing, who knows? The music was reaching a point where it was almost second fiddle to the persona. Regardless, Tommy and Eric deserve their own identities and musically, I think they're earned it on "Monster". I recommend this album to any rock fan, not just us KISS fans who buy anything regardless.

If you like EARLY KISS this is for you

This album is definitely the best of the albums since KISS recorded with the makeup back on. Some catchy tunes include Hell Or Hallelujah, Wall Of Sound, and All For The Love Of Rock n Roll. Paul Stanley really struggles with his voice on this album and can be tough to get through. Some songs are only novelties to the KISS persona, such as Freak, Back To The Stone Age, and Outta This World. This album is heavily carried on the backs of Gene Simmons and Eric Singer. Monster feels like a 10 in comparison to Sonic Boom. Coming from a huge KISS fan and fan of the originals, this is should be picked up even by the casual KISS fan. Some could argue its their best album since 1991's Revenge and others would argue their best since 1983's Creatures Of The Night. Either way its a reasonable return to heavy rock and may be the band's exit from the recording studio.

    Exactly What I'd Hoped For!

KISS isn't breaking any new musical ground these days...or EVER! Still, I have been a KISS fan since a teen! I've turned my children on to the band, and they continue to be a musical mainstay in my household! As with 'Sonic Boom', I was interested to hear what the new incarnation of the band (with Eric Singer & Tommy Thayer) would produce, and once again, they churned out a great, standard KISS album that gets catchier with each successive listen! Once more, they subtly revisit the sounds and tones, and even closely-resembled riffs from their albums from the seventies. There is just enough freshness of sound and lyrics, combined with enough of the old flavor of 'Rock & Roll Over' to attract new fans and please the old, die-hard ones! KISS ARMY forever!
