My first monitor was defective. It had a permanent "burn in" type color alteration on the left side of the screen. I could not get rid of it running the system pixel and image cleaning utilities.
That was just the half of it. Using RTX 4080 - the HDMI 2.1 (all 3 ports) would only work 4K 120hz and no other settings. If I changed anything (8bit to 10bit, turned on HDR, Set it to 138hz in the menu, Changed VRR settings or anything else that would require a screen refresh) the monitor screen would go black and the monitor would freeze. If I pressed menu on the remote there it would not show up until after I unplugged the HDMI cable. I turned on accessibility mode so that I could hear automation sounds when I pressed a button on the remote. I noticed too that if I changed anything (like turned HDR on or OC 138hz and the screen went black, there would be a very long delay in sound after I pressed a button and still the menu would not come up and the screen would be black. After I unplugged the HDMI cable the menu would come up. I tried 3 different HDMI 2.1 cables and it still didnt work.
This being said, Display port 1.4 worked great! No issues. You just cannot enable VRR with Display port 1.4. I wanted to use HDMI 1.4.
I called LG support. I didn't have to wait long. Their representative was nice, but bored. The person I spoke with really didn't understand monitors in general or get a grasp of what I was trying to explain. I spend a nice hour on the phone with him trying to get a firmware update but they could not figure out how to do it. So while the representative was on the phone I decided to use my husbands computer. He uses a Rx6950 xt. I plugged it in via HDMI 2.1 and all the settings worked like magic.. NO ISSUES AT ALL!! I told the LG support rep that I believe its my graphics card since it works fine with AMD's 6950xt.
Next I called NVIDA..They were clueless. So I called Zotac. They agreed that it was probably the RTX 4080 itself since it worked with the AMD card. So they told me to return my 4080. Luckly there was another in stock. I exchanged my card and still even with the new RTX 4080 the monitor would freeze and the screen would go black after I changed the HDMI settings. Finally I found on REDDIT someone who was able to tell me how to update the firmware. You use the downloadable on screen display software the LG has on their web site. right when I installed the software I was prompted to update the firmware. Once updated I still had the exact same problem. Finally after 10hrs of troubleshooting every angle I gave up. I contacted BestBuy support the next morning and they sent me a replacement right away. Total Tech support is so amazing. Everyone should get it.
My new monitor came the very next day. The new monitor had ZERO screen issues and no weird burn in affect. I plugged the HDMI 2.1 cables in and tried to change settings and it worked. No HDMI issues at all. Everything worked fine. But I replaced my video card and the monitor just to figure it out. It was the monitor the entire time.
This replacement monitor is amazing. I have no issues with it at all. It's fantastic. The colors, the size, everything is amazing. But you better get total tech (especially because this is an OLED display). Total tech will give you a much better warrantee than LG could ever give you. I got this monitor for 999.99 and total tech was only 200.00 for the entire year and it covers all purchases made for the entire year. No more buying individual protection plans for individual items!
TIP: DO NOT get the LG C1 or C2 TVs. Even with Total Tech. With total tech and TVs, if something is wrong with the TV, GeekSquad has to come to your house to fix it. If it's a monitor you can take it back to the store and exchange it. So get the "monitor". Plus the monitor has built in settings that treat the display as a monitor. Like Auto turn on when you turn your PC on and also extra automatic screen burn-in protection. Also Only get this monitor on sale so that you can get the geek squat total tech membership for 200.00 and still save 200.00 on the TV!
instead of the TV.

I am giving this 3 stars because I had the monitor for less then 1 day and have to return it because of a defect in the screen. I was doing screen tests and on the color screens, grey and red showed the most, I found a quarter moon shape warp in the screen. Now before I found this I set the screen 240hz. When I did this i found the screen had horrible scan lines, unacceptable at the price of this monitor. So my option was 120hz, which is not bad, or 240hz and scan lines, a huge perk/price for this monitor is the 240hz. Samsung really needs to figure this out because this was a problem i had with the G7. Now on a more personal note, the cure of the screen was a problem for me. In order for the cure to not cause distortion issues in work/school duties you have to sit way to close the eyes seared like tuna steaks brightness, that is with the brightness down to 35 which I will get to later as a great thing in gaming. At normal sitting for a computer screen you get to much distortion, this curve would not be an issue on an ultra wide but on 16:9 it is to much curve. I went to edit a photo and the curve made things more difficult. If this monitor was flat I would like it more but that is still just a personal thing and your milage may very. Speaking of photo editing, the colors on this are over saturated, great for gaming not so much for color grading work. I tried to make some adjustments but it was only minor improvement, woth proper calibration tool I am sure there is more improvement to be had but it is just not meant for this kind of work and it is a VA panel. Almost done complaining I promise then the good. The last problem is the price to quality control factor, for the price to how the monitor preforms is not balanced. And the are so many reports of quality issues with Samsung monitors that something is not lining up when these ship out the door.
Ok now to the good and then I will wrap all this up. Good on you if you read this far down because I am having trouble paying attention and I am writing this. So to the good, I ordered this monitor to replace a 32 inch 4k 144hz IPS Viewsonic monitor. I wanted a FALD monitor because of the IPS glow I get from this monitor. I keep the brightness low not because it is so bright but because the glow bothers me during games but since my office is dark it is not a huge deal. The screen brightness and inky blacks from the G8 when it is in local dimming looks amazing. I was able to get some games in just to see and wow. If I was only gaming on this monitor I would be more forgiving. I started off by playing destiny 2, amazing HDR quality and the dark areas were amazing. Lights felt so much better and had more contrast then I have seen before on my Viewsonic monitor. It reminded my of playing LG G2 OLED in terms of contrast, not quite as hood but close. Now this was on low for local dimming, on high there was a bit to much blooming but nothing like how old FALD monitors were. Local dimming on auto was a wash just because the system was not sure what to do and would just not work sometimes. But that should be something that can be fixed with updates. In windows the HDR is ok but that is more a problem with windows then with the monitor. The saturation od colors in games is amazing, like the gold on the doors in destiny looked fantastic to the point I stoped and just looked at it.
So final thoughts, brownie points for sticking it out through my rambling soapbox. I am going to return and most likely not order another G8 because of the many issues. For now I will stick with my Viewsonic because of the better colors for photo editing and it just works without any screen issues. I highly recommend it especially if you do color graded work and also want a great gaming monitor for much cheaper then the Samsung. I would love to order the new Viewsonic 32 inch mini LED FALD monitor but is near 500 to 800 more then the G8. But I think I will just save a short time longer to get that because it is better specs for my needs. Not that it matters or you care but do I think you should buy this monitor. Well like all things it is very much based on use case. If you are buying this for just gaming and you want to hook a new consol PS5/XSX along with your pc, as long as there are no quality issues it is an option but remember that at 240hz on pc there is going to be scan line issues. At 120 hz it is fine but it defeats the purpose of the monitor a bit if it is not used at 240hz. If you are looking at a dorm room console only situation I would honestly say no and got with a 42inch C2 for the same price, you will get amazing picture and more features. If you are worried about burn in for OLED, which is almost a non issue anymore and I have owned a b6 OLED for 6 years with zero issues and I pretty much only gamed on it for a couple years, there are some awesome 43 inch monitors for the same price that will give you more screen and great picture. If you have a chance to see this monitore before you buy I really recommend playing with the setting to see if the prevalent issues will bother you. And yes it is finally over.

I'm very glad I joined TotalTech. It has been especially helpful to me since I just moved into a new house and needed to buy a lot of tech in a short period of time. Adding Geeksquad warranties on each individual item would have added up very quickly. With TotalTech, you get 2-years of protection added automatically with each eligible purchase, for that added peace of mind. There is a small deductible you have to pay compared to the Geek Squad plan, but it's a good way to get most of the protection for a lot less.

I purchased this system after trying the eero Max7 system. This is head and shoulders above when it comes to range and wireless back haul speeds. Glad this went on sale for $1599 a few days left in my return window of Eero. I think this is a winner and hope it fulfills my needs for years to come.

Best warranty service/product available across the major electronic, exercise equipment & appliances. You also get many discounts so i was able to upgrade my IPAD purchase to the 12.9 model. My in-house consultant Justin Cox has been my points man for consulting on products and we compare my research to decide all factors. The Monthly BB protection plan is very comforting beyond manufacturing. Plus, you have a local familiar relationship with an excellent product/service company = Best Buy!!
