I hesitated at first to catch this masterpiece and gave in once I saw all the nods given to it during awards season. I was not dissapointed. The story is so well written and directed and performed with such emotion that it clearly deserved the award for best picture at this years academy awards. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the story of a life told in 3 acts that will capture your heart and soul on so many levels.

Moonlight was 2016's well deserved best picture winner and after viewing the film it's easy to see why it beat out the heavily favored but overly sentimental La La Land. Jenkin's film in an honest and compelling tale about a young man finding his identity amidst the perils that come with a drug addicted mother and constant bullying. Stunning performances all around, candor and humanity propel this to the top of my favorites list for 2016.

This is what you get when a great screenwriter/director, Barry Jenkins, along with an incredible story by Tarell Alvin McCraney and a mere $1.5 million budget [compared to the multi-millions spent on much lesser movies]...you get a little masterpiece. Told uniquely in three parts from boy, to teen, to man, you see a life struggled through and lived. To have THIS CAST get this material is proof that the universe is not always against good films.

Moonlight is the type of picture that too often gets overlooked by the public. The story line is seered into your mind by the excellent writing, directing, and of course brilliant acting by all the actors involved not just one. This movie deals with some very harsh, modern subjects that too often get lost in exploitive tv shows and movies. This truly is a "must see" movie.

I saw this movie when it first came but, but had to travel kind of far because no movie theatres wanted to pick it up at first. It was worth the trouble to see it because it is a different take on so many issues, especially being black and gay. I highly recommend this movie to anyone that wants to open their minds to see what life is like through another person's eyes.

Intimidation and bullying can cause major issues with individuals that are subjected to this treatment because they are different. The writers and producers did an excellent job of focusing on the torment, fright, and oppression this young boy into man had to endure. Everyone should see this and understand the depth of what the movie is truly about. Excellent message!

This movie was very much interested it kind of had me puzzle but a little before the middle I was glued to the tv but can relate at point I will recommend to my friend very good movie but you have to be very alert and watch it cause you can easy be thrown off but over all a well put together movie go get it we won't be disappointed

Moonlight follows the story of Chiron and his struggles with his identity at three different periods in his life. Every actor gives a great performance, especially the three Chirons. This is a very intimate movie, brilliantly directed by Barry Jenkins, and was deserving of it's Best Picture Oscar. Moonlight is a movie that should be seen by everyone.

This was not my favorite movie of the year but this was an excellent entry and I think in a few years time will be looked back upon as a sign of the art to come. Beautiful and tasteful anamorphic photography married with raw editing and a mature, cinematic story makes for one of the most unique viewing experiences of the last five years.

Ok film that is worth the watch if you want to watch a movie.

Movies are supposed to make you feel something and this one definitely did. The music was Amazing and it changed the way I see life now. This is my personal experience with the movie, know that every mind is different and give this a go if you want to know more about the movie. If you are an empathetic person then this movie was made for you.

This film the very personal story of a young man growing up in very difficult circumstances. It is a story told in a very original & creative manner, so the viewer may feel confused or mystified at times. Having a DVD for this film is helpful because one can look back to help make sense of certain plot elements.

Moonlight is, after a terrible mixup, no doubt the best picture of 2016. This film is just amazing. The three act film really shows you the pain of Chiron. A boy coming to terms with his sexuality. Dealing with his drug addicted mother. And growing up in a tough Miami neighborhood. It's a film that needs to be in any serious collection.

Average drama which did not live up to the hype for it.

I went to the movies to see this with friends. It was amazing then and I knew I had to own it. I will admit my friends were more moved by it than I was at the time, but it still a great piece of movie artwork and look into the this young man's life who could be any young man in the world.

Sad story of a boy who is bullied by kids at school and lives with a mother who is hooked on drugs. He finds friendship and love with another boy who ultimately does the unthinkable a turns on his friend to avoid being picked on by the bullies! You see him grow up and find his own fate!

Has a great commentary track that gives a lot of insight on the film. Plus, the film just looks gorgeous in its own right on Bluray. Definitely money well spent. However, the digital copy is an Ultraviolet so keep that in mind: you can't put it on iTunes or anything like that.

If you haven't seen Moonlight, what are you waiting for? Truly, this is last year's best film by a country mile. It is beautifully shot, acted, written, and directed. Here's your chance to get to understand other people and what it's like to live their lives. DO NOT miss this. A stunning achievement.

For a non-cookie cutter movie, this is what you want to win during the awards seasons. I was surprised all around, and the performances were well-touted and sincere. Very deserving winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture.
