Powerful movie, with a truer to life story on the down low! Other side of the Gay lifestyle. The hidden side. A lot of gay men don't act like or want to be a or play the woman role modeling. These days you really can not tell who is gay. Gays come in all favors.

Well deserved Oscar winning independent filn that touches on topical themes of sexuality,race ,survival and isolation. Unbearbly personal at times and filled with tenderness and compassion in the depiction of the leads conflicted masculinity .Highly recommend !

This is a great movie to have to discuss in homes with people of color. It helps embrace same-gender loving relationships and show how there are still some struggles of stigma and phobias that need addressing within the people of color communities.

Great to see quality commentary on masculinity told through a non-stereotypical character. The film's success bodes well for even more varied future stories. Moonlight's cast is phenomenal, and the work done by the director and cinematographer is stunning.

So glad that this film got the recognition that it did. I really is a beautifully made story about masculinity and what happens to the men who do not fit in the nice box society expects. Beautiful cinematography, acting and the soundtrack is fire!

MOONLIGHT was an excellent movie! Following a character through the different stages in his life and the struggles he went through was eye opening. The performances were awesome and I see why the movie won BEST PICTURE at the most recent Academy Awards.

Not sure what all the hype was about. It was a good movie. Not worthy of the best picture award in view. I saw 6 of the movies nominated and this one definitely was NOT the Best Picture of the year. Of the three periods of the focus on in the movie. The middle section was the strongest part in my view and the young man portraying that role received NO attention. Why? It makes you wonder what exactly is being judged. I would recommend it for viewing if you are just interested in seeing what the movie is about .

Chiron's entire life is filled with so much pain and hardship that you can't help but feel an increasing sense of fear and tension that suddenly, things could go completely and tragically wrong. Imagine living with that fear every day of your life.

I buy all the Best Picture winners and this one did not disappoint. I still believe Arrival was a much better film. Mahershala Ali's performance was a good one but not sue it was deserving of an Oscar for so little screen time

This movie is great, and Mahershala Ali delivers a great performance for the (SPOILERS!) short time that he's in it. Its tough to watch if you're not a fan of this genre, but its a great movie, and it looks incredible in 4k.

This movie was so engaging and it was a beautifully written (I guess winning the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay was the clincher.) I'm glad that it won for Best Picture and I felt like it was a stronger movie than La La Land in my opinion.

Enjoyed the 3 period story telling. Brought me along through the life of this then young man bullied at school. With much stacked against him at home, his single mother with a drug problem, etc. He handled it all with the help of a friend.

I saw the movie twice in the theater and I was blown away when it won the Best Picture Academy Award. It may be a small film, but it highlights a slice of life that tugs at your emotions. You care about these people. I highly recommend it.

Put it on and expect a complex, well written, well acted performance as young Chiron tries to understand what it means to be a man in a challenging, virtually hopeless urban environment. It's gripping entertainment.

This movie, though sad, deserved the best picture academy award. I come from South Florida and know that, in spite of its reputation, life can be a challenge. However, the boys really deserved the best actor awards!

I wasn't sure I would purchase the movie buy the sale price changed my mind. I got a Grammy award winning movie at a price I was willing to pay. I purchased 3 other movies because best buy had a good sale going in.

Not a movie for everyone, the ending is a little abrupt, but it doesn't feel forced, it's a subject matter that has never been put on film. I loved it. Would watch over and over. Great cinematography and acting.

I was really excited to watch Moonlight, as I had seen it at the top of end year lists of several movie critics I follow closely. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed, as I found the story and characters to be nothing very new or intriguing. I think the main problem comes from the general introverted nature of the main character. The low-key, under the surface abuse and anger Chiron has is totally understandable, but cinematically just wasn't that interesting. It doesn't help that the most interesting relationships (and acting presences) in the film disappears less than a third of the way into the movie, and of course I'm talking about the relationship between Mahershala Ali and Janelle Monáe with young Chiron. The former two unfortunately just disappear, and their presence was sorely missed. Unfortunately there wasn't much to replace it; I thought the crack-head Mom role has been done to death already (even specifically what the film does with it), and the relationship between Chiron and Kevin also never really interested me that much (perhaps because I just never "got" the character of Kevin - I just don't see enough of where he's coming from as a character). I understand that the movie is also celebrated for having a gay, black male main character, but the story itself wasn't that compelling to me. I guess I was also over-hyped from all of the acclaim Moonlight is getting - from being a lot of people's #1 picks for 2016 I was expecting a beautifully filmed (looks fine, but doesn't stand out) movie, with an incredible story (too low key and not that compelling for me), with great characters (there's depth to them, certainly Chiron, just again it's too low key, and leave parts of the film kind of boring), but it just left me feeling like I've seem enough of this before, and the movie doesn't do any of it exceptionally.

I can see why this movie won the 2017 Best Film Oscar- I don't think I've ever seen anything like it before. The characters are immensely complex, as are their interactions and personal stories. I can't recommend this one enough.

I will admit, this movie looks amazing. However, I felt like each segment was half baked. As soon as I would get reinvested the story would end. Great movie if you like to think about what could have happened.
