I purchased the Motorola - edge 2024 phone because of my previous good experiences with Motorola phones and the very good offering price. My new phone was easy to set up and is working well.

This s my first smart phone, so I have nothing to compare it to. I haven't had a lot of time to play around with it and have trouble shutting it on and off. I'm probably not the one to ask about a review of this product.

So far this is a great phone. Still learning things on it and it has different features my other phone didn't have, of which I like. It's slim and light weight
Easy to use I would recommend checking it out if you're in the market for a new phone

Long lasting battery and snappy performance

I bought this phone to replace my Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE as the battery was at 68% health. With no local Xiaomi repair shops to replace the battery, I thought buying a new phone would be the solution. Enter the Moto Edge 2024. I owned three prior Motorola phones so I was familiar with the brand. Mine is the unlocked version with 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage.
Design/Phone quality: This phone is sleek, comfortable to hold, and has a nice curved pOLED screen. The eco-leather back provides a nice grip but the form factor is reminiscent of my old LG Velvet. Very impressive. It also has an IP68 dust and water resistance rating.
Performance: My 11 Lite had a SD 778 chip that has been a good mid-range processor for a while. The Moto Edge 2024 feels much faster. It's almost flagship speed. I think this is an upgrade for anyone using anything else than a flagship phone. I have only streamed gaming to this phone but it multitasks very well without any hiccups..
Aligning with flagship features, the USB-C Port is 3.1 and compatible with Display port 1.4. So, it has a great desktop mode that connects to an exterior monitor if you really want to get everything out of this phone. While the storage speed is 2.2, it still feels fast enough.
Battery: This is why I upgraded the phone. I can get about 1.5 days on this battery. That said, I am a heavy user as I always keep the 5G running. I will update with just wi-fi daily usage as I'm sure that will increase battery life as well. I average about 10-11 hours of screen-on time each day with 25-30% remaining. This feels like an efficient use of the 5,000 mAh battery.
Display: The display is probably the most underrated part of this phone. The pOLED running up to 144Hz is insane. It's also very bright and durable.
Photos: Photos are fine. Given sufficient light, images should come out detailed. I haven't tried to shoot at night or in suboptimal situations less but it seems fine.
Video: Video is fine but only offers 4K at 30 fps, and 1080p at up to 60 fps on the rear camera. The front camera doesn't offer 60 fps at any resolution but I fould only get 1080p. Still, smart stabilization is offered at both resolutions on both cameras.
Value: I missed the best deal at $249 but bought it at $299. For this price, this is a phenomenal deal! While it is not an inexpensive phone, the build quality, display, performance, and battery are all hallmarks of a more expensive phone. This is a great upgrade from a recent budget phone or one 2 years or older. If you're looking for something to feel fast without breaking the bank, the Moto Edge 2024 is it. This phones has one Nano and one E-SIM. Regarding the messages issue, that's an iOS issue. Yurn of imessage on your old phone and deregister from the website. Finallyz have your iPhone folks change your chat to SMS. Doung so should see all messages come through. Same thing happened to my son switching to a 2024 Razr.
Thank you for sharing such a detailed and insightful review! We're glad to hear that you're enjoying the Moto Edge 2024, especially its sleek design, impressive battery life, and smooth performance. It’s great to know that the display and build quality exceeded your expectations as well! Your experience and tips regarding messaging transitions are also helpful for others making the switch. This is the last motorola phone I will ever buy. I previously had the Motorola Edge+ and I absolutely loved it until I accidentally cracked the screen. This phone is newer but has a less powerful processor and terrible battery life by comparison. It also has invasive adware called Glance that pops up on your lock screen displaying ads and turns itself back on once week even after you disable and uninstall it. It probably won't be long before I buy something else but it definitely won't be another Motorola. They are going to continue losing lifelong customers with ridiculous decisions like putting invasive adware on the lockscreen of their phones and not selling their flagship phone models with higher end processors on the US market. I'm really regretting my decision to purchase this and would not recommend buying this phone or any other new Motorola products.
Hi JW88, We’re sorry to hear about your experience and understand your frustration. We appreciate your loyalty as a previous Moto Edge+ user, and we regret that this device did not meet your expectations in terms of performance, battery life, and the presence of Glance ads. As we stand behind our products, we would like to have the opportunity to investigate your feedback further. Please email us at [email protected] for us to further assist you. -Mitch

Great Value, and the device is much faster than I thought

I purchased a $199 Motorola Edge phone on November 25, 2025 along with Geek Squad Protection.
On December 2, 2025, the phone’s battery failed catastrophically. It began shooting flames from the side, destroying the phone, case, and screen protector. I returned to the store the same day. Despite having the protection plan, I was charged $45 for a replacement device.
Within three weeks, the replacement phone developed another failure and would not charge beyond 10 percent.
At that point, the support process became a loop. The store could not locate my protection plan and sent me to Geek Squad support. Geek Squad confirmed the plan and sent me back to the store. The store then told me they do not replace Android batteries and instructed me to file a repair or replacement claim instead.
I filed the claim as directed.
The insurer, Assurant, informed me they could not provide a replacement because Motorola has discontinued this model (makes sense, spontaneous combustion is not a good quality in an electronic product).
I was then told my only option was a “buyout.” To receive compensation, I was instructed to pay Assurant $218 in order for them to reimburse me.
Repeated attempts to reach Assurant by phone ended with the automated system disconnecting the call each time.
I am just going to go back to an Apple device. I would not recommend this or any Motorola product to anyone in good faith after this experience.
I would also recommned purchasing electronic products from Amazon or the manufacturer, as Best Buy is an impediment to getting repairs done. I also notice that the prices are less when you go directly to the source, so I'm not sure what value Best Buy adds.
Hi JoeW, We’re sorry to hear about the experience you’ve had with your phone and the difficulties you encountered with replacement and support. Safety and reliability are top priorities for us, and we take situations like this seriously. Since your device was purchased with a protection plan through Best Buy and handled by Assurant, we recommend continuing to work with them for reimbursement and replacement options. If you encounter further challenges, please send us an email at [email protected]. We'll be there to help. -Mitch
