Initial Observations, So Far So Good.

Replaced a 3 year old Galaxy Mega that's a good phone but a beast to carry around. Went for the G4 5.5" screen vs the G5 5.2" screen. Glad I did coming off a 6.3" screen. Went to the nearby AT&T to activate, no problem (free sim). The 4G LTE appears to work fine on AT&T. The phone immediately wanted to upgrade to 7.0 Nougat, but I played around with it for a few hours, then upgraded in about 30 minutes. Got a little warm during the 700+mb upgrade, but otherwise no problem. Good screen, software and battery life, came 80% charged. Fun to explore the OS, definitely different from SS, less bloat. The only thing I miss on the Galaxy is the SS email app. I had to download Alto, which works OK. Don't like the included G mail app, it' doesn't separate different account inboxes very well. If you don't like swiping up and entering a pass code, you might want to go for the plus with the fingerprint reader. Haven't assessed the camera yet, but it should be OK for my purposes. Haven't tried the Bluetooth either yet, but Nougat supposedly solved most issues with that. We'll see about long term reliability, but so far a great phone for the money if you don't want to spend 500-800 dollars for a phone, which is me. Buying locally at BB works for me with a 14 day return and a $35 restocking fee. And the timing was good with the Nougat 7.0 upgrade immediately available.

    Works great with T-Mobile

I bought the phone to use with T-Mobile and it has been great so far. I am getting and LTE signal. It is fast and light. There is no bloatware and is basically stock Android. As of today there is no Nougat update but it is supposed to be coming anytime now. I was hesitant to give 5 stars because it does not seem like WiFi-calling activated. However, fir the price and quality I gave it 5. I can search wifi calling in the settings and there is an on/off switch but when I turn it on, leave the screen and come back, it is back off. Hopefully a future update will activate it. I have a 64GB card installed and is working ok. The speakers sound pretty good and has some bass. I wish it had a finger print reader but it doesn't. Great phone for $200.

    Poor person's Nexus

I have had mine for about a week and it seems pretty solid, and takes Cricket quite well. I had recently has some issues with provider branded phones, and decided to try this one. The near-stock android lacks some of the UI refinements, but it also lacks a lot of the bloatware. The ability to change providers if needed was a selling point. Mine has not had the overheating issues that I have heard others have claimed. It did get a little warm on the initial update and app download cycle, but not any more than other phones I had. It had a decent feel in the hand, and the back isn't too slippery. I like the gesture to turn on flashlight. Screen and sound were better than expected for this level of phone. I also like the sd-card slot. It's not a full flagship, but also not a cheap piece of junk.

Got this phone for Christmas and it is great. Runs fast.Charges fast. Easy to use. Great screen quality. Got a dual SIM card from Page Plus cellular for .99 cents, called them and in under 10 minutes they had my old number transferred to this phone and I was up and running for a fraction of the price of the big networks. Page Plus runs on Verizon towers and the phone works great. I've already traveled around to several Ohio spots and have had no issues. I'm going back to get another one for another member of the family. Can't go wrong with this purchase.

Love this phone. Has done everything expected. The phone is fast, screen is good quality takes good quality pictures too and love some of the features. My favorite is the flashlight (a couple of quick shakes and it's on). really handy when the porch light is not turned on. I also love how you can also shake the phone to turn on the camera too. Makes it much easier to capture the spure of the moment shot than having to unlock the phone and open the camera app like on my old phone.

    Great phone, but Verizon issues

If you don't already have a 4GLTE SIM that was activated before in a Verizon phone, they will tell you this phone does not work on their system. You will have to use another phone that Verizon already recognizes to activate the SIM. Then you can activate the phone with that SIM. The phone seems huge to me, but works well now that we finally were able to activate it. Battery lasts a long time. Turbo charge is handy. Best thing is no bloatware!

The more I get familiar with this Moto 4/4 ... The more I like it ! I live in a rural area and now I get a much stronger signal. Also, With a 5.5 inch screen it is slim, light weight and easily slides into a pocket. I took my nano SIM card off of my older phone with Straight Talk ...Hit the preferred CDMA in setting and it worked like a charm . ( Verizon towers) ... I would not trade this for a fancy iphone ... The looks are not flashy but the lighting speed and performance is awesome.

I've had a Samsung phone and an iPhone and I liked them both but this is so clearly the best value out there. I'm hard on my phones - lose and/or break them so I won't spend a fortune on one. I had a bad experience with refurbished. This is a very nice phone - does all it needs to do, has very nice OOB Google features that are more convenient (if you go back and forth from Android to iPhone). Lastly I like that the flashlight comes on with a hand motion. Kind of small thing but convenient as I walk at night. I've been using this phone for a few weeks now and I am so glad I didn't spend the extra money for a big name. (Also the phone protection was much cheaper too.)

I converted to Android (previously used iphone 4s) with this purchase and the learning/adjustment took just 10 minutes. Moto g4 with its 5.5 inch screen and 13 MP camera is comparable to the 4 x more expensive iPhone 6s Plus and Samsung Galaxy s7. A great steal for $200

I installed a lot of apps and still it is very fast and so responsive. The screen looks excellent with the 1080p display and it has good camera.Better call quality than samsung galaxy. The notification on the lock screen is simply good. The screen looks great in full sun with full brightness setting. The battery lasts for long time even after heavy usage. The buttons for power and volume control are also simple and good. The shake feature for camera and flashlight is awesome.I bought this phone for my wife. She loves it! Will buy one more phone soon.

I have owned numerous PCs beginning in 1982 but this is my first smartphone. I needed a new cell phone since ATT is dropping 2G and my phone was ancient. I read numerous professional reviews and owner reviews and did a lot of thinking before buying this Moto. I have not yet used the phone, since I haven't started new service. But I have to say I am quite wowed by the quality and features. I have only used my wi-fi at home and not at public spots, but I have not found one complaint yet. I feel that the complaints I have read are nitpicking. For $200 you get an amazing device. If you want more than what the Moto G4 offers, be ready to open your wallet and pay bigger bucks. This deserves the Critics Awards it receives.

It is a great phone for the price. The battery will last all day, and the screen is really good, of course not compared to today's flagships but you know you should be expecting that when you get a mid-range device. Camera is pretty good, could use a bit more digital image stabilization but once again that's something you get on flagships and not on mid-range

I purchased this device as a backup to have. Not wanting to spend much, what I received was an unlocked feature packed phone. My primary device is an iPhone 6+ and the size of the Motorola G4 was very similar to my 6+. The phone offers removable storage, not to mention it's unlocked which makes this phone extremely versatile. I'm very satisfied with the price and features of this phone. I would highly recommend.

Bought this phone because previous phone had a small screen making web pages impossible to read. The 5.5 inch screen on this phone is bright and and easy to navigate. The speakers are excellent. It can be heard clearly from several feet away . Battery life is excellent. It lasts a couple of days if just used for texting and calls and lasts all day when streaming video and tunes. The camera creates clear and bright images. Also it's not loaded with a lot of junk. nice price
