Nearly as good as Moto X Pure

My wife had an emergency need for a new phone, because her Samsung Galaxy S6's AMOLED screen broke (under intact front glass) for the second time. We're still paying AT&T for the privilege of owning the hunk of junk, so we needed something inexpensive that could suit her. As an owner of last year's excellent Moto X Pure, I advised her to go with the new Moto G4 Plus. The G4's expandable memory, decent processor, 5.5" screen and nearly-stock software are nearly as good as the Moto X Pure, at a considerable discount. After our experiences with ~$700 phones that break too easily, I'm ready to declare the era of the flagship phone dead. We can get by just fine with our sub-$400 Moto phones, playing games, taking pictures, and getting around town with aplomb, and plenty of battery life. And when the juice gets low, the Motos' quick charging gets us back out on the town in 15-30 minutes, with enough gas in the tank to last for several hours more. Definitely don't regret buying this phone. Definitely not planning to ever make payments on a phone again. One gripe: the finish on the Moto G4 Plus's metal sides is not amazing. Within a couple of days, it had worn down in one spot. On the bright side, the wear added a bit of grippiness to the phone (not that it had a problem with that anyway).

Good features for the price - heating problems

Issues like heating while using camera, flash light, charging. I've used phone about 4 weeks and love the speed. I never knew Google Maps could be so fast. Open many apps and speed never slows. BUT try taking several pictures (with or without flash) and phone gets VERY HOT. Several times the camera just quit working when phone got HOT. I would buy again but would get more internal memory (32 GB, 3 GB RAM or 64 GB, 4 GB RAM). Don't let the salesman talk you our of getting more internal memory as he did me.

This is not the fastest or flashiest phone that you can buy, but for the price it cannot be beat. I have been done with contract phones for a while now, but this is the first time that I have purchased a new unlocked phone. I am convinced that this is the smartest way to stay connected, especially when Lenovo offers several Motorola Moto devices like this at relatively low prices. Highly recommended.

Earlier I had BLU for one of my secondary number. I didn't receive any text or updates on the phone. With basic apps it was keep on saying no memory even after having 256 GB SD card. So I was looking for a good phone which serves my basic needs and then I found this. It was very satisfying and good performance. No issues identified so far on the phone even a couple of months. Would recommend to go for it

Battery life has been good to very good, as usual, heavy use can make any battery go. The quick charge is a great help too. The camera is very good - quick focus, quick to use. I also appreciate the nearness of the software to stock Android. In all, if you are looking for a solid phone at a good price, the Moto G4 Plus should be on your short list.

As a senior citizen, I needed a phone that had all the features that my grandkids said I should have so we can keep in touch while they are in college. they have Iphones which are too complicated for me as I am used to droids. This phone has a beautiful picture and is easy to use. This phone replaced a Samsung which has been getting bad press so I did not want to take a chance besides having to pay more.

The Moto G4 Plus is a very versatile and capable phone. It has a bright and vibrant display, a very hi-resolution camera, and a convenient fingerprint-sensing lock. It can be extensively customized, with a plethora of apps available. It accommodates micro SD cards, for extra storage, up to 128 gig. Battery life is exceptional, a whole day's use will often result in using only 25% of the capacity.

This phone definitely gives you the most bang for your buck! The front and back cameras are definitely 10x better than any other phone you'd find for this price. The battery lasts me all day and the phone feels nice in the hand. The UI is android stock and it is buttery smooth. I'd recommend this phone for anyone who wants a great working phone but doesn't have the budget for a Samsung :)

Good: The phone is an excellent deal for $250. The camera is sharp, detailed, and focuses quickly. Bad: only 2 gb of ram on the base model. Had to get mine replaced because the first one I got had an unresponsive touchscreen.

This is a great little phone for the price. The fingerprint scanner is actually faster than my Nexus 6P. The camera is surprisingly good, though it is a bit slow. Really nice, bright screen that's easy to see outdoors. Battery life is great and build quality is solid.

Picked this up just before Christmas on sale for $184 -- a savings of $80. Turned out to be an awesome buy at a fantastic price. Love the larger screen, 16GB camera, and the Five Star speaker. Most phones offer poor quality speakers, but this one really rocks. Forget the overpriced iPhone. Grab one of this babies! You will not regret it!

This Moto G Plus phone is great. It does everything I want from taking pictures, phone contacts, accessing the internet, voice search on Google, gps accessibility, and easy-to-follow directions for those of us who are not versed in the workings of smartphones.

Purchase for my daughter she loves this phone. Great battery life, expandable memory and the cost was right where we needed it to be. No excess bloat-ware! Like the fact it is unlocked so if I decide to change carriers the phone comes with us.

I reviewed the phone on many sites prior to my final decision to purchase. I've always been a Samsung phone person. However with this price just being a fraction of the cost it was worth the risk. I'm actually happier with this Motorola phone than my past Samsung phones. Definitely worth the price. The many high tech specs were and still are a surprise to see. High quality camera. Love the thumb security guard. Allows for fingerprint login with more apps! The drawbacks are sometimes slow internet surfing. The phone will randomly restart, for no apparent reason. Seams to overheat while charging. The screen will dim sometimes, for no apparent reason. Otherwise great bang for your buck. Definitely recommend. Hopefully Moto will figure out the few glitch's. Still satisfied with my purchase!

Excellent phone - especially for the price. Big screen and very clear. The camera does a very good job - low light photos are just ok. I'm not really testing it too much but it seems very quick and no lag. A huge improvement over my BLU Life phone. Plus Best Buy matched a great deal Amazon had.

I destroyed my iPhone6 and needed a replacement. This phone is working as well if not better than my iPhone. The camera is top notch. The battery is ok as long as you are not playing Pokemon Go you should be able to get almost a full day.

I needed a replacement for my Android phone which was a 4 year old Moto G 2nd gen mid range phone. I was happy with it, it gave me everything I needed, with one down side - not enough Memory. I went to Best buy after doing a bit of research and bought the Moto G 4th Gen and I am thoroughly delitghted with this phone, everything is far better I chose a larger memory model and it has LTE service which made it much faster, along with a much improved camera and much improved battery life. I've had this phone for around a month now and I haven't found any deal breakers yet, although I have the Moto G Plus version which is a bit larger than the older one I had, I have gotten used to the larger size easier than I thought I would. I believe it is one of the highest rated mid range phones and I would recommend anyone who wants a great phone with many features the top of the line phones have (did I mention a laser range finder on the camera?) at less than half the cost of a flagship model to check it out!
