James Belushi and Michael Caine shine in this modern day version of "It's a Wonderful Life."
Belushi's character is convinced that his dull life would be completely better if he had just hit a baseball in his league championship when he was a teenager. Well, on his birthday, after he gets fired from his job and his car breaks down, he gets the chance to see what could have been.
After receiving a special drink from bartender Caine, Belushi walks out into a world where he really did hit that baseball. He is now the president of his company, married to beautiful Cindy Jo (Rene Russo), and living like royalty . However, the "Clarence-like" Caine explains that now that he has what he always wanted, he has also lost his original family and friends. this new life is also not all peaches and cream and comes with an entirely new set of problems. Is this truly what he desires or perhaps he always had what he always wanted?
The film looks great on Blu-ray and special features includes a great commentary with the director and James Belushi.
Highly recommended for the family and knowing that all things work together for good in the end.

Very good movie and Jim Belushi does an excellent acting in this movie. The bartender is the destiny maker. He shows up when Jim needs him to explain what is going on. In a way it is sort of suspenseful when the old man gets hit over the head by the guy who wants Jim's job. The ending is what i liked most; because it was such a happy ending; and it sends a message to be careful what you wish for; because you just might get it..

Although Larry (James Belushi) has a comfortable middle-class life, it still rankles him that he struck out at his high school baseball championship. He stumbles into an unfamiliar bar on his 35th birthday, the bartender (Michael Caine) fixes Larry a special cocktail that allows him to see the life he thought he wanted.

Everything looks good and sound is decent but I was a little annoyed that this comes with a 2.0 DTS sound and no english subtitles, yet my original dvd has Dolby Digital 5.1 and pretty sure it has the english subtitles. Other then that it is a nice HD upgrade to the dvd.

Mr. Destiny... This was a hard to find movie from my younger years. A good movie to help you realize how important the ups and downs are in our past to our futures.

It's about time they released this movie on Blu-ray. Say classic in its own right.

First of all I would just like to say that I really like this film, I have owned this movie on VHS, DVD and now on Bluray. The Bluray picture quality is great but I am very disappointed with this company (KINO LORBOR) for cutting a few corners in this Bluray release... there is no option for closed caption and the audio is only stereo (standard left or right channels) through your tv or if you are using a home theater system you may have the ability to use Dolby Pro logic II. Personally I refuse to use Dolby Pro logic II because all it does is take standard stereo sound and manipulates that signal into an artificial 5.1

A Modern Day 'It's A Wonderful Life'

'Mr. Destiny' is in a lot of ways a modern day 'It's A Wonderful Life.' Just about anyone is sure to enjoy this film, which is really quite good, presented in anamorphic widescreen. Unfortunately, bonus content is nowhere to be found.
