Customers are saying

Customers recognize the 15.6" Laptop's excellent performance, impressive battery life, and high-quality screen. Many appreciate its lightweight design and comfortable keyboard, making it ideal for both productivity and travel. However, some users find the sound quality lacking. Overall, the positive feedback on performance, battery life, and design outweighs the concerns about the speakers.

    Great laptop with missed opportunities

I have had the PS63 Modern-08 for about two weeks now, so I'll give it a fair shake. - Build Quality The PS63 is well built, and much sturdier and less flexible then the GS65 (even the 2019 version). The thin bezel screen design makes for a very compact footprint compared to traditional 15.6" laptops providing a 15.6" experience in what amounts to a typical 14.1" chassis. The dark blue metal chassis feels professional and does not make me feel weird walking into meetings. - Screen Looks fantastic whether working with documents, coding, or gaming. The IPS panel in the PS63 Modern-08 model is good, but not as good as in the PS63 Modern-85, for some reason MSI opted for the 100% NTSC panel in the 85, and the 72% NTSC panel in the 08. Still looks very good though. - Speakers They are tinny garbage. My OnePlus 6T has better audio output than what MSI packed in the PS63. They are downward firing and have a pretty low max volume, if someone needed to hear the audio in a noisy place such as a cafe, said listener would struggle even with the volume turned up to maximum. So headphones / external speakers are must for almost any audio activity. - Webcam and microphones I didn't test these as I never use them because they are generally always terrible on any laptop. - Keyboard MSI is known for using Steelseries keyboards in their laptops, but they opted for an in-house design with light travel and decent tactile feedback which is reminiscent of the 2015 Macbook keyboards. Additionally, the keyboard is backlit with three tiers of brightness. - Touchpad Glass makes for a fantastic feeling under the finger(s); MSI really nailed this one. My only complaint is the touchpad is a little too big. Sorry for another Apple reference, but the 2015 Macbook had the perfect touchpad size (take notes MSI). - Thermals Usually when buying small laptops, I'm always wary of the thermal performance under load, but MSI has a ton of experience in this department, and they really nailed it. I gamed on the computer for about three hours, and the fans never got loud enough to overpower my headphones, and the laptop itself never felt uncomfortable to touch. When I was not gaming, the laptop is completely silent with respect to the fan noise. - Expand-ability MSI really dropped the ball here by only providing a USB 3.1 Gen 1 / DP type-C port. At this price point, Thunderbolt *is* appropriate. The M.2 SSD0 slot supports PCI-e NVMe while M.2 SSD1 slot only supports SSD which is a disappointment for a "Creator" laptop where drive speed matters if doing things like video editing. On the bright side, only a single 16GB memory module was included, so an upgrade means only having to purchase an additional 16GB module. A USB type-A ethernet adapter was included, but does not support PXE boot out-of-the box. - Nice-to-haves If you are a webcam user or hater, MSI uses a keyboard combination (Fn+F6) to "unplug" the webcam, so it does not show up in device manager adding a nice layer of added privacy and security. One of the USB type A ports supports Qualcomm quick charge 3, so a cell phone can be quickly brought back to service without the hassle of carrying around a dedicated "quick" charger. Some folks have mixed feeling on fingerprint readers, but I like them for logging into Windows as it enabled my laziness to skip typing in my password. - Installed software Came with the usual bloatware suspects: Norton, MS Office trials, One Drive, way too many Microsoft store games. tl;dr Other than my speaker and I/O gripes. MSI has built a fine laptop that anyone should be proud to own.

I have only had this laptop for a couple days now, but it is fantastic so far! The screen is matte and looks amazing, lots of USB-A ports, battery lasts about 6 hours so far, but that's with heavy use and light gaming (Terraria). I highly recommend it!

I was looking for a laptop for college and my friend bought the MSI GS65 stealth and it was a laptop with really good specs. I was also looking into MSI laptops and I stumbled upon the MSI PS63. I looked at the reviews and overall seemed pretty promising. I ended up buying the laptop and it runs very smoothly. Although my laptop came with a weird left control key, but after taking it to Best Buy it's all good and works pretty fine.
