It’s a good budget gaming laptop. Enough RAM and a good GPU and Intel CPU. Ran benchmarks on it and they ran well although rating was lower than I would have expected the FPS were high.

It worked nicely for only 1 and half month then today suddenly got the 'blue screen of death '. It is not working any more. It doesn't even start. Called MSI help center multiple times but they didn't help. Not even best. Hence, giving 2 stars out of frustration otherwise the laptop was working great initially. Not worth the price if that's the life of this laptop and it continues with this issue. Suggest Don't Buy.

Good laptop for the more casual gamer

I've had this laptop for over a year now and it's a super solid performer for the price. I upgraded from 8GB RAM to 32GB and there's a slot for an additional NVMe SSD if you want more storage. So far, I've not found a game that won't play on ultra settings with at least 60-80FPS, and many games just max out at 144FPS. It is only 1080p so it's not the most advanced display out there, but for a more casual gamer, it looks great and the screen has a good anti-glare surface as well. The processor being an i5 instead of an i7 hasn't effected performance that I've seen so far, and looking at the benchmarks for the two, there's a minimal difference in overall performance, so I'm inclined to think this is more bang for your buck. Battery life is standard for a gaming laptop which is not great, but I also don't use the built in battery saving features in favor of higher performance, so you may get better results than me if you're more frugal. I'd say the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is mainly the heat, which is also somewhat expected with this type of laptop, but with the vents primarily on the bottom, you really should have some sort of stand or fan underneath it to not get too hot by using it for extended periods of time.

PROS: 1. It has 2 ram dimms (I upgrade to 32gb ram) 2. It has 2 nvme dimms (I added +1TB nvme) 3. Its warm with a cooler base and it's hot without it (at full blast playing the witcher III like 3 hours) 4. It is fast even without upgrades 5. Noise is not high with a cooler base and it is high without CONS: 1. RTX3060 is the 60watt version, max 75watt (the lowest) 2. Plastic feel, not cheap but plastic at the end 3. You have to get into the BIOS to improve rams speed clocks 4. Have only 2 usb ports + 2 usb-c OVERALL: Well you will not find a cheaper laptop with this hardware, I buyed this baby for 940usd (tax included, 829usd listed) and let me tell you that for that price, it was a steal, this beauty runs gooood with the RTX3060 and i5. I upgraded ram to 32gb and added 1TB stick to improve significally this laptop, after the upgrades I feel laptop speed increased like 30% in games. Consider to do this for GREAT IMPROVE, even another 8gb stick would be great, since it take advantage of the dual channel stuff. I always buyed 17.3in laptop, but the price range of laptops with that screen size with very similar hardware goes from $1400-$1600 so it is almost DOUBLE!.... I am considering buying a gaming monitor and a stand base to put the laptop (using it like a CPU?, lol) with the money I saved but not sure since I will feel that it lost all the sense of buying a laptop, but when I think I have an extra $500 bucks in my pocket just for the screen, so it's ok.

Bought this to use for gaming while not home. Wanted something a little more high end, but for the price, this literally cannot be beat. Upgraded the RAM to 32gb and threw in a 1TB Samsung EVO SSD and this thing is very, very smooth. Battery life when not plugged in is decent for browsing or minimal load. Gaming, you will want this plugged in for sure. It gets warm, but not too warm. Fans get pretty loud when running game on max settings. Which, runs very well on max. (ESO, SWTOR, Halo Infinite, Destiny 2). The screen seems a bit dim, but bright while gaming. Have only had it about a month, but I love this little laptop. Once again, for the price, this cannot be beat. The 3060 is extremely solid. Do not be put off about it being an i5. This laptop is outstanding! The i5 paired with the 3060 is a fantastic combo. Especially when you catch it when it's on sale for $850.

The IPS level screen has decent colors and the 144hz refresh rate is glorious. The processing power of the I5 and the RTX 3060 is surprisingly good at the sub $1100 price range and no other brand is offering such good specs at this price. The SSD is blazing fast too, with easy 15 second boot time. The only downside is my book is that 8GB of RAM is a bit lame, but that is easily understandable at the price range. Upgrading RAM is a non-issue. Also, this computer gets HOT when playing more intensive games. Hot air is expelled via a vent on the left side and two vents in the back of the computer using two fans. However, the top of the laptop gets extremely hot above the keyboard so be aware. Battery's not great, but I expected that from a gaming laptop anyway. Overall, if you're looking for the best bang for your buck and want the capabilities of an RTX card without dishing out what ASUS charges, buy this laptop!

Got this for 800$ Best bang for the buck gaming laptop you can get at bestbuy. That being said there are some things you should know before you buy it. Pros. -3060 will boost to 75w when it can. -keyboard back light is very nice to have. -high refresh rate monitor can be used because the 3060 has the power to get over 60 fps in most games. -very light and easy to carry. -screen is bright enough. -sound is not bad and has a eq to adjust. -touch pad is ok. -upgrade ready for ram and ssd. -cpu is quite good, 6 core 12 thread boost to around 4ghz under load. -ok amount of ports. -keyboard has good typing feel. -Dlss will make this able to play demanding games for a while. -The 3060 at 6gb of vram makes it much better then a 1650 or a 3050, and it is more powerful then a 1660ti. -The cooling solution keeps the 3060 at reasonable temps. The cons are both me being picky and serious design flaws. -usb ports are on the wrong side and get in the way of a mouse if you are on a small table. -while the touch pad is good, the left and right click are terrible. They need separate buttons. -because of the screen size the key space is limited and i feel like they could have done better if they put the function keys on top of the keyboard and not the side because the keyboard is cramped. - While the 10500h is a strong cpu, it is too much for the cooling solution in this laptop. You have to ramp the fans up ALOT to keep it reasonable temps. A laptop cooler is required for gaming. -To make this worse, the fans are... LOUD! Now you can adjust the fan curve in dragon center "it is trial and error because there is no temp given on the scale of adjustment" however you are going to set them to around 100% or higher to keep temps in check. -Upgrading the ram and storage is annoying because the bottom of the laptop is hard to remove. I took all of the screws off but the ports got stuck so i was just able to slip the ram stick in. -8gb of ram is not enough. And while bby sells ram its only 2400 and this can take 2933. but to me the ddr is worth it for sightly slower ram. I am sure there is more but i have only had this for a day. All in all as long as you can live with the cons, the pros make it worth it if you are buying something on the cheap. Because for the money -at least at bby- there is no better deal or laptop for 800$. And you cant even touch anything more powerful until you reach 1200$ or more.

Can’t speak to longevity as I’ve only used for a day+ now. It’s a good machine, like really good. Was really worried about thermals, noise. Undervolted by 100, added 2 sticks of slightly better RAM, Optimized the GPU. Kid is way into Fortnite, I go Ultra settings on that and cap frame rate to 120 (why go higher with the 144mhz display?) and it runs at about 82 degrees. Fans are high, but with volume up no thing. I recently got a close out Lenovo with a i7 9750h and 2070 max-q, this system benches almost identical to that despite being $500 cheaper (smaller screen, not as bright-but I would take my $500 back for the lenovo and buy this in a heartbeat). The screen is dimmer than you’d like as an older adult, but I have no doubt the son will be just fine with it. This is a good box for sure, highly recommend. Thermal solution is adequate, just knock the setting below ultra to keep it cooler, I’m guessing on 15 inch screen you won’t be able to tell the difference. You know what you are getting for battery on a laptop like this, don’t kid yourself into thinking you’ll get much with all those Pony’s under the hood. Another win, thanks Best Buy!

It does the job as a gaming and a work laptop, however the quality is somewhat lacking. The battery life is abysmal lasting only 1-2 hours. Even less when performing heavier tasks. It also gets quite loud. Booting up any software is met with the sound of jet engines paired with a toasty laptop. It gets noticeably hot as well. When playing games or using blender, it seems to be about a degree away from burning your hand. Overall, while the device performs fine, you may find better options regarding quality.

I bought this for $799 for gaming and school and it runs really well. The laptop is lightweight and has a smooth 144 hz screen. Some problems I encountered included: glitched screen (screen had lines running all along it, it happened a few times one day and it disappeared by itself and has not happened since then), screen lag (little stutters, also happened for one day only), build does not seem very sturdy, right click on the touch pad is sinked in, overheating (solved this by changing some settings), poor battery life (battery saver and super battery in dragon center help with this), mic not connecting (just noticed this recently and haven't found a solution yet). The keyboard does not click down as far, and I wish it had other rgb lights for the backlit keyboard not just red. The 8gb ram many say is too little, but I feel like it's sufficient for me, even with my 50 + tabs and gaming. I was frustrated by the issues encountered, but aside from those, this laptop at this price is overall a really good buy.

Excellent laptop, best value for money, best price for a 3060, that can boost up to 1800MHz on core. Just needs another stick of Ram, than Dual Channel really booooosts the performance to where it should be. Runs everything just fine, all games on Ultra, Doom Eternal100+ fps, FH4 100fps, SnowRunner easily at 60fps, Red Dead Redemption 2 just over 60fps.. The cpu is fast but a little tooooo hot, but a small undervolt of 102mV can help cool things down. Don`t buy cooling bases, as the openings on the bottom of the laptop are so small that makes then useless.

Great laptop. I immediately upgraded the RAM and added a 1TB M.2 for preferential/need reasons. Is a nice little powerhouse that runs very smooth. Only thing to note for others consideration is number of USB ports is low and when the fans kick up, they KICK UP.

Its a great bang for you buck gaming laptop! A solid 10th Gen i5 and a 3060 GPU! Considering how hard it is to get a graphics card this day it works, its a pretty good deal. I managed to get mine on sale, so that was even better. With these speeds you're looking at gaming at minimum high settings and sometimes higher depending on the game. for lower demanding games like CS:GO and League of Legends you're going to be getting some serious FPS. that goes great with the 144hz refresh rate. The built in MSI Dragon Center allows for overclocking and setting fan curves, which is good because it can get a little warm. Only down side is the storage and ram, but its easily upgradable. You can swap out the ram for higher memory and it has a second Nvme m.2 slot for a second SSD. Battery is ok, but thats on par with most gaming laptops. Obviously there are better, more expensive gaming laptops, but its hard to beat the price for what you get out of it. I do casual gaming and music production and it gets the job done. Would definitely recommend!

I was really excited to get my hands on the MSI gaming computer. I'm a big gamer, and I've heard great things about this machine's performance and power. Unfortunately, my experience with it hasn't been all positive. One of the biggest issues I've had with this computer is its battery life. From the very first day I got it, the battery has been disappointing. I can barely get an hour or two of use out of it before I need to plug it in again. This is really frustrating, especially when I'm in the middle of a game or working on a project and don't want to be tied to a power outlet. Another problem I've encountered is the fan noise. When I first fired up the computer, I was taken aback by how loud the fans were. Even when I'm just browsing the web or doing something basic, the fans are always whirring away in the background. And when I'm gaming, they get even louder, which can be distracting and takes away from the overall experience. Finally, there have been some weird glitches that I've noticed with this computer. Occasionally, the screen will flicker or freeze up, and I'll have to restart the computer to get it working again. It's not a huge issue, but it's definitely something that I didn't expect from a high-end gaming machine like this. Overall, while the MSI gaming computer certainly has some impressive specs and can handle even the most demanding games and applications with ease, I've had some significant issues with it. If you're considering buying this computer, be aware that the battery life is poor, the fans are loud, and there's a chance that you may encounter some strange glitches. If those things don't bother you, then this computer may be a good choice. But for me, I think I'll be looking for something else.

Great deal on this laptop since I got it on sale. I use it for gaming and periodic mining. 37mh/s in Daggerhashimoto +620 memory, -200 core. This is the 75 watt variant of the RTX 3060, hence the lowered rate. NOT an LHR card, just wattage limited since this is a Slim laptop model. I replaced the terrible single stick of 8gb ram with two sticks of 4gb ram. This gave big gains in benchmarks and FPS. I used some Samsung ddr4 3200mhz ram and it worked perfectly. Battery life isn't the best, but this is a slim model with a smaller battery. Intel i5 is a perfect balance of performance / price. 6core/12 threads.

Great for low spec games, ran at low fps on low demanding games such as Valorant and CSGO. I would definitely recommend a RAM upgrade, which is fairly cheap and will increase performance by more than double. Battery life while gaming is about an hour. Using this laptop for school, I have been able to stretch the battery life to 6-8 hours though I have never let it die. If you catch this laptop on a sale it would be a pretty good deal.
