Bought this for my 11 year old son after listening to his year long complaints about his older laptop being slow. I have a 17" MSI gaming laptop and am happy with it so I decided to stick with MSI.
Everything works great. No more complaints after I removed a few pre-loaded applications that were bogging down the system (more on that later). Everything works fine and the screen is very good. He connects it to a larger 23" monitor when at home so I wasn't worried about the screen performance so much. That is also why I went with the 15" model. Another reason I chose a gaming laptop was the dedicated video card which I believe makes a huge difference in gaming performance. His previous laptop did not have a dedicated graphics card.
He mainly plays Team Fortress 2, Minecraft, and some other kid games I don't really recognize. The specifications on this machine will allow it to play more graphic intense games like Call of Duty or Battlefield 4.
Sound is surprising good from the speakers; however, he prefers headphones.
FYI - When you get this home, be prepared for a lot of Windows and driver updates.
Performance is 5 stars after some tweaking. I gave it 4 stars because I had to remove several pre-installed programs that were bogging down the system. The first was Norton Anti-virus. I like Norton, but it is a resource hog. I installed Best Buy's WebRoot in its place. MSI also had several other programs that monitor performance or allow quick changes to the set up for different games. He would never use those so I uninstalled.
So far, so good. No more complaining about slowness or lag! Ahhhhhh, worth the money.
Overall, great gaming laptop for the price. I am happy with the hardware, just a little annoyed at the pre-installed software.
I would recommend this to a friend
