Customers are enthusiastic about the GS60 Ghost Pro-002 15.6" Laptop for its powerful NVIDIA 970m graphics card that runs games seamlessly and its lightweight design. However, the battery life is a major drawback, lasting only about 1 to 2.5 hours.

Background:
When purchasing laptops I have traditionally gone with Toshiba brand laptops. They offered updated technology but the main selling point was their durability. However, I have always wanted to own a gaming laptop and knew I would need to broaden my scope of products to get what I wanted. I don't do any hard core gaming, but I do enjoy playing games like The SIms, SimCity, and City Skylines. For that reason I wanted to search for a laptop that would provide me with amazing graphics and also act as a personal laptop. After doing copious amounts of research and almost purchasing an Alienware product I stumbled on to the Ghost Pro. I didn't know much about the product, but after learning about MSI and a lot of the revamping they did recently. I choose to go with the Ghost Pro best decision ever.
The Laptop:
The laptop is shipped extremely well and protected. (I went through three separate boxes to actually reach the laptop.) Its main box is organized and provides a safe way to store the laptop if ever needed. All of the restore systems were also included. (However it is a disc and this laptop does not have a disc driver, easily worked around with an adapter if ever needed). The aesthetics of the Ghost Pro are very nice. The casing is solid, but does leave finger prints easily. The Steelseries key board is well organised and feels really well when typing. (Windows key and delete key do take getting used to). The keyboard is easily adjusted to any color and settings you want through a program. It also allows for programming keys to do or launch certain apps. Everything is top of the line. NVIDIA 970m graphics card runs seamlessly when playing games. 6th gen Intel 7 and windows 10 run extremely fast on the SSD. There is also very little bloat wear upon start up. Overall I am very happy with my purchase. Have had it for a little over a week and everything is running smoothly and efficiently.
Pros: All updated technology- graphics card, Intel, etc. It is one of the lightest laptops for the specs at a little of 4lbs. No glare on screen. Dual exhaust in the rear helps keep laptop extremely cool when running at higher operations.
Cons: Screen is darker than I would like. Audio can also be quite (helped by Nahimic app that it comes with gives a small boost)

Awesome computer, lighter and thinner than most of ultrabooks. Nice configuration with NVIDIA GTX970M that runs all games on very high-ultra settings. Only con: Battery life ( 1h-2h30 max)

We use this machine as an alternative to Macs for Multimedia developers using tools that run only on Windows. We have purchased several over a couple of years and so far they have been good. High priced but less than a Mac and more powerful.

I am very happy with the computer purchase. It starts up quickly and runs my games flawlessly. The fans are very quiet. Very light weight laptop for the power it packs. I would recommend buying this computer.

I bought this laptop for my 25 year old son who wanted gaming capability. The graphics are very impressive. The only issue he has had is it sometimes drops the WIFI connection. The wireless device disappears from the devices. Apparently it is an issue with the laptop. We plan to bring the laptop to Geek Squad to see if we can correct the problem. Just haven't had the time.

I purchased this gaming notebook for my son. I did not want to have him lug a large and heavy notebook which is typical for this category. The MSI was a great balance between high performance and thin and light.
He has not yet found anything that the notebook couldn't handle.

seriously, this thing packs a lot of punch in a small form factor. the graphics card is great for powering almost any game on the market so long as you tweak the settings a bit. some can be dialed up but others may need dialing down, not by much - but it's a 970m not a 980m or better yet 980. there's not a better deal than this laptop as of June 2016. it has a great balance of everything. you can get a better laptop if you spend another 300-500$, but I was on a budget for my travel computer.

I can't really explain my feelings for this MSI laptop. It's absolutely amazing. It's really fast even though I haven't tried playing high end games. The keyboard is my favorite because you can customize the colors and effects. Overall i would give this laptop 9.8/10. The reason why I would give it that rating is because of the battery. The battery need a lot of improvements.

Let me start off by saying that I'm an avid apple product user and I have not owned a PC in such a long time. I eventually got frustrated with the specs that Apple products provide that I decided to venture out and look into getting a Microsoft laptop. The main things I had to consider was that it had to be able to handle PC gaming as well as handle video editing software rendering. I was looking into gaming laptop because I knew most likely that those would have the best specs for my needs. The one thing that I worried about with gaming laptops though was the bulkiness so when I laid eyes on the GS60 I fell in love! I looked into the reviews more and decided that this was for me. It's even lighter and skinnier than a 15 inch macbook pro, the built in specs are amazing. I read somewhere that the fans were too loud during gaming but I decided to buy a fan cooler so that didn't bother me. The battery life at full charge can handle 2 hours but that also isn't such a big issue since I usually stay plugged in most of the time. I've had this laptop for about two weeks now and I'm very happy with it!

This is one of the best laptops I have put my hands on. I have been looking since June for a nice, lightweight, powerful laptop and I finally found it. Oh, and did I say fast....blazing fast....I tried 3 other brands before finding the MSI but it was well worth the wait. I don't play games but I run several virtual machines at a time to do my work. Other systems I have tried were either bulky with a big battery or the systems would get very hot and shutdown. I have quite enjoyed my system and looking forward to years of use.

Introduction
Five years ago, a full blown desktop replacement could never have been imagined in the form factor of a thin-and-light notebook. Yet here we are with the MSI GS60 Ghost Pro, which is a no-compromises portable machine that beats out every computer before the Sandy Bridge days while consuming a fraction of the power.
Hardware
While obviously not as powerful as a modern desktop processor, the 6700HQ is definitely more than powerful enough to handle CPU-bound games like Cities: Skylines, Kerbal Space Program, and StarCraft II. As a developer, it also meant that Android emulation through Android Studio was buttery smooth, something that can’t be experienced on any other mobile processor.
The GS60 comes with an ample 16GB of memory, enough to satisfy Chrome and my 20 extensions. The real shining stars in this laptop though are the Samsung NVMe SSD and the Killer ac WiFi network card with a theoretical throughput of over 800 Mbps. I tested a cold boot to 3 tabs fully loaded in Chrome clocking in at under 30 seconds.
The 15.6” 1080p IPS matte panel is ideal for gaming and productivity, and a 144Hz monitor can be added through Mini-DisplayPort. For those who want a 4K display, there is a trim for that as well.
Exterior
The Steelseries keyboard, while I didn’t use the functionality to its full potential, is a very premium feature and has a satisfying travel distance and tactile feedback. The right arrow key shrinks the numpad 0 to a 1u key positioned under the 2 key, which caused me many mispresses.
In terms of I/O, it only has 2 USB Type-A ports, but does have a Type-C Thunderbolt port. And the power port placement could cause the power cord’s ferrite core to block the GPU’s exhaust.
The brushed aluminum finish, while premium looking, is unfortunately a fingerprint and oil magnet, and is especially noticeable where one’s wrist would rest under the WASD keys.
Usability and Conclusion
Since I have sold my desktop, the GS60 is now my daily driver and I am proud to say that for my, and most others needs, it handles anything and everything as fluidly as you’d expect. In terms of portability, it’s lighter and thinner than most gaming powerhouses, and battery life is ample for coffee shop or library work. Travelling with it is convenient, with my only gripe being the quite large power brick. The MSI GS60 is a direct competitor with the Razer Blade 14, and the only major differences between the two are screen size, 1 USB Type-A port, and price. Both are great for gaming and productivity on the go, but if resolutions above 1080p on a 15” display just isn’t necessary for you, the GS60 wins handily at the tune of $300 and build quality.
