I have been in the business of selling/using computers for a couple years now and I can easily say this is the best gaming brand you can find. Packed with features and way above expected performance for a laptop, the only way to really beat this 970m GPU right now is getting an SLI configuration from alienware for at least a grand more (then you also have a Dell). There are tons of helpful utility programs, but admittedly some are somewhat useless/windows already does them.
Has completely maxed out any games I have tried on it reaching upwards of 180 FPS (i.e. gw2, D3, planetary annihilation). With an SSD it boots in 7 seconds and the AC wireless card maxes my ISP download speeds.
You can really tell MSI has put a lot of thought into every detail of the machine and ensured that every component is of a high quality and from the best brands. Even the track pad is in a place that you never accidentally click, and the windows key is on the right so you don't hit it by mistake while mashing WASD.
Amazing to find a laptop that has such rich and loud speakers, that even support virtual 7.1 surround sound and works. Or digital sound outputs and processing that can support a true 7.1 system. Some of their laptops even come with a blueray player. The full HD screen is also anti glare with a full range viewing angle and deep color production while for whatever reason bending 180 degrees level with the keyboard on it's straight pin hinge.
The steelseries keyboard is also customizable to whatever 3 colors you want in several different patterns even one that follows music, but has a good second delay making that setting not so impressive. Steelseries also provides software to program macros or whatever you want the keys to do. If you are gaming and want to cool the laptop down you can max the fan with one button and the RPM reaches 5000 making the components run as hard as they ever could even in a warm room. I will say the fan is incredibly loud at this speed, however.
Heat is not so much a problem as the haswell i7 and maxwell 970 architecture is so power efficient the laptop stays relatively cool and actually has decent battery life (about 4-6 hrs). However, no laptop can really run this level of GPU without a power source.
I was surprised it came with Norton and wildtangent/xbox games, which is a shame since their laptops did not used to have any extra promotional software. I would recommend an SSD anyway and wiping all that nonsense (helpfully, MSI actually gives a driver/utility disc, which is almost unheard of these days).
Worth noting that Bestbuy.com is 100% wrong and this can support 32gb of RAM with its four slots, however two appear to be on the less than accessible side of the mother board (there is only one being used out of box). It also has 2 standard SATA interfaces to easily have both HDD and SSD or a RAID dual SSD(!) and can support 3 extra monitors.
This is definitely a great desktop replacement/compromise .

Rock solid, loaded with goodies, the screen and the keyboard are amazing, battery life is really good. I use it mainly for programming (9-5 job) and playing games.
The hardware inside needs no review... is beyond awesome. The thing I love the most, is that when I use the cool boost feature, my GPU won't go over the 51-55 celsius when playing games such as Battlefield 4, Dragon Age Inquisition or Starcraft 2 on ULTRA settings at native resolution.
I recommend this machine to anyone looking for a real mainstream monster.
