I purchased this as a replacement for a 5 year old Gaming laptop... I was looking at an Alienware system but just couldn't do it when I compared the specs with this system... Same price for an I5 processer.. 4 Gig less memory and a small slower HD. Oh and a step down on the Ggaphics card... in sped and memory. I know folks will say ALienware is better but for the money I say no. I probably haven't pushed it as hard as I could yet. I'm very set on the Win7 platform but I'm slowly getting use to the 8.1 operating system... Overall I'm very happy with my purchase... only time will tell how it ultimately performs.

Great Gaming Laptop. For the price i couldnt find any other laptop that had the same GPU, CPU a reasonable amount of RAM and a SSD +HD drive. Only problem is that it heats a lot and cooling pads dont seem to work because it has tall supports in the corners. However the heat is not enough to turn off the computer and using the cooling pad makes it not get in contact to the surface directly.

After attempting to buy 3 laptops for college this is laptop i ended up with after Newegg screwed up my order 3 times. NEVER BUY FROM NEWEGG! I went into my local store where i had both Sean and Shannon help me purchase the laptop i have been looking at for a very long time. A lot of folks have never heard of MSI which is shame because most of the parts you find in other machines are made by them. Definitely a quality machine and a machine i would recommend to anyone that is looking for a quality piece of machinery. i primarily ruin games, CS6 and Lightroom on my machine as i have a surface that is used for notes. that being said this machine will handle it all. I have already rendered an hour and half long 1080 video in less than 3 hours in cs6. that is a record. i love this machine and probably never go back to any other type.

I've had this laptop for almost a week, and have been exploring it's capabilities. It does come with a lot of unnecessary software, but that's Windows for you. The screen is wonderful, and the speed is excellent. I'm not a fan of 'chiclet' keyboards, but this one is working quite well for me- with a good solid feel to the keys. I'm a casual gamer of WoW and Elder Scrolls- and this laptop is handling them wonderfully. The graphics are rendered really well. As for websurfing- I can have multiple tabs running, and the MSI just handles them without lagging. There is a standard fan, and then the surge when things heat up too much. The standard is nearly silent. The surge can be a bit loud, but I didn't find it to be bothersome. Not related to the proficiency of the laptop- but I do really like the design of the case. It isn't light precisely, but it is a 17.3" screen, and the case seems pretty durable.

Great laptop so far. With the design, hardware, and specs its hard not to be pleased when you compare to other brands like the over priced alienware. Steel series keyboard so much better then the on Asus provides, I find it really comfortable. Definetly a great value, especially when you catch it on sale for $100 less then the price shown now...Will update with more performance opinions when my game finishes installing. Only reason I cant give a 5 star right now.

So far this laptop has exceeded my expectations. I needed to upgrade because my last laptop was struggling to process and edit the huge files of my Nikon D800e. his burns through and doesn't even blink. I am a casual gamer. Have not yet put it through it's paces gaming yet. It is super quiet with normal use. If you use the turbo fan it can be loud. But not too bad. The programmable backlit keyboard is stunning. I had some minor issue at first getting a blu-ray to play correctly. I did get it figured out and its just fine. The SSD drive is nothing short of amazing. From a cold start, this thing boots up and is ready in less than 10 seconds. Really. I am in love with this machine. If you are on the fence, don't hesitate. This is bar none the best value at these specs in a gaming laptop around. Just do it.......If I can answer any questions, leave a comment.

I'm a desktop person and decided to try having a laptop for a computer. Tested this for 3 weeks. Video Card When connecting to an external monitor the display would become scrambled when scrolling fast. I switched monitors and it still did the same thing. I even bought a new hdmi cord and the results were the same. The MSI website states it can support matrix view (3 monitors) but with just 1 extra monitor...I'm disappointed. - Drivers were all up to date also. Performance I tried 2 fairly non demanding games - Guild Wars 2 - Marvel Heroes 2015 With the highest graphics setting, the screen would still freeze during game play. I kept lowering the settings and the results are still the same. Even on the lowest settings. Remind you, these are not very demanding games spec wise. This may just be a defect but I'm planning to return this today and get a refund. For the price you pay, the product that I'm currently typing with, is not worth it. I'm going back to making my own desktop.
