Perfect laptop! I can't find any disadvantage in this laptop.
Also you can upgrade the GPU when you feel it's not enough at all.
It's really easy to open the postoperculum, so you don't need to worry about getting broken.

I am going to school for network security and needed a laptop that could essentially power four computers and be able to play games on my rare bit of spare time. This laptop fit all the required needs. The price may seem a little expensive if your looking for a cheap computer but for what I'm talking about this is VERY affordable. All the built in features are excellent and all the standard items are way better then the average. Excellent display and wonderful keyboard. I would say the ONLY downside was trying to find a laptop backpack that this would fit in. This laptop will NOT fit in a typical 17 inch laptop backpack because it is bigger then most out there but on top of the initial power you get, you also have a fair amount of upgradablility to keep it prevalent into the future.

It boots up to desktop in about 7 seconds or less. I added a 500g ssd as the main drive and added 16g of ram just for complete overkill. Best laptop I've had int life.

I purchased this notebook as I headed into retirement. Kids love it as do I. Only regret, I should have gotten a larger solid state drive (C:\).

Outstanding and Upgradable High-End Gaming Laptop

This is not only the best gaming laptop I have ever owned, It's the best gaming PC I've owned (Not to say that you can't make a better desktop, you most definitely can!).
I have been using the MSI GT-72 Dominator for about a month and a half and have not had a single problem with it. It's always been very important to me to be able to build PC's with future-ready motherboards that I can upgrade for several years. However, because of work, I can no longer have a desktop PC and had to go the gaming laptop route due to my travels. The GT-72 meets my needs in being widely upgradable along with some of the best laptop hardware available inside. Here's my experience so far with the system:
-The GTX 970M performs very well with the i7 Processor included, running all of my games at full spec without any drop in performance. It is very possible and quite easy to upgrade to the GTX 980M if you desire the top-of-the-line video card. Side note: MSI has already confirmed that the motherboard installed in the laptop is upgrade-ready for the next generation NVDIA cards upon release.
-RAM. The system comes with 16GB of RAM across 2 cards. The motherboard has 4 total slots, two right underneath the back cover, the other two you would have to dismantle almost the entire laptop to get to. Want to upgrade the system to its max 32GB RAM capacity? No problem, the two easily-accessible slots are the ones that are left open. I chose to get 2 8gb G.SKILL cards to max at 32GB, which is overkill, but awesome.
-HDD/SATA Interface. Starting with SATA, the DVD drive is connected via SATA II, which is fine because its impossible for any optical drive to take advantage of a SATA III interface. The 2.5" 1TB HGST HDD included is high end, and benchmarks very well. I did choose to replace it with a 2.5" 1TB Samsung SSD, just because I am a speed junkie. It was then that I learned that the 2.5" drive slot is also hooked up via SATA II, which is unfortunate, because I won't be able to hit full potential on the Samsung drive, but either way, it's still a major performance upgrade. Also, oddly enough, there is another spot available for an additional 2.5" drive, but don't waste your time as there is actually no hookup for it. The only use I could imagine for that drive is just that it is a good spot to store a spare HDD in case your hard drive ever fails.
-SSD/SATA Interface(cont.). This is where the GT72 hits the home run. The included Kingston 128GB SSD has outstanding performance, but is definitely worth upgrading. The SSD is of the M.2 Variety, which currently maxes out at a 512GB capacity. This is fantastic, because the M.2 SSD is in one of 4 slots of a RAID card that is attached to a SATA III interface. That means that you can have up to 4 M.2 SSD's in the laptop, and can run them in RAID-0 for over 2000MB Read/Write. I currently have a 500GB Samsung M.2 and the 128GB Kingston that came with the laptop hooked up (not in RAID). My plan is to get 3 more of the Samsung M.2 SSD's to run in RAID-0 to complete a blazing-fast 2TB SSD.
In closing, the MSI GT-72 Dominator is an outstanding beast of a machine with uncomparable upgradability for a laptop. The design is beautiful, and the customization with the steel series keyboard is fantastic. This laptop will exceed your expectations, even after reading this review. If you are in the market for a high-end upgradable gaming laptop, look no further, buy the GT-72 Dominator!

Hard Drive crashed on 3rd day

After hard drive crashed contacted MSI and advised they hard "forgot" to install 128GB SSD as advertised. Therefore, did not re-order a MSI laptop, went with another brand. Best Buy honored their commitment to customer service by handling this unusual situation to end initial purchase positively and satisfied with new brand.

It is large, portability could be an issue, but it's specs and performance are just as large.
Two things I found:
Msi claims its upgradable, but then says if you remove the cover you "may" void the warranty.
Also, it automatically saves data to the ssd, and not the data drive. I had to search and follow instructions to move the users folder to the data drive...wish I knew before I moved all my data on to it. I did move the folder and it appears everything I had moved well.
