Before I watched or bought this movie, I was told by numerous people that the movie was a GREAT movie and a MUST SEE. As a result, I watched the movie with high expectations. The movie started out great, I thought the story/plot was great and the acting was great as well. What prevents this movie from being great, however, is the ending. After 2 hours, the writers seemed to forget that the movie had to end and seemed to just rush an ending. As a result, the ending was not satisfying... the writers could have and should have written a better ending.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this movie. The movie does not offer the stark good vs. evil characters common in movies today. All of the characters were flawed. I could identify with all of the characters, but I would not want any of them as my friends. This is old style story telling; a slow build up to a climax and resolution; not jumping from one climax to the next. The characters kept my attention until the end and the film was more entertaining than I anticipated.

An original, compelling and well-done southern drama. Director, Jeff Nichols film is mesmerizing, it as great characters and is very thrilling. It's nice to see a film that delivers not what you were expecting but what you were hoping. Matthew McConaughey gives an outstanding and strong performance. One of his best performances ever. McConaughey and his young co-stars Tye Sheridan and Jacob Lofland have wonderful chemistry together

I've heard many mixed reviews but I watched Mud in the theaters 3 times and have watched the digital copy once since we purchased it.
This is a great movie that shows SE Arkansas in a "good" way... Most films will make Arkansans look like hillbillies which isn't the case in Mud. You can tell its a lower budget film but its still a great made movie in my opinion.

Mud, along with True Detective S1 and Dallas Buyer's Club of course, somewhat serve as the trifecta of McConaughey's rise in stardom, perhaps capped off most recently with Interstellar. While I've little doubt he's continue to impress, these pieces have all be released/aired close enough together to serve as an easily understandable justification as to why he is such a great contemporary actor. Nichol's direction in this film again captures the unique life and personality of small town living, and perhaps even more so as told through the eyes of the film's adolescent lead.

Two boys, Ellis and his friend Neckbone, find a man named Mud hiding out on an island in the Mississippi. Mud describes fantastic scenarios—he killed a man in Texas and vengeful bounty hunters are coming to get him. He says he is planning to meet and escape with the love of his life, Juniper, who is waiting for him in town. Skeptical but intrigued, Ellis and Neckbone agree to help him. It isn’t long until Mud’s visions come true and their small town is besieged by a beautiful girl with a line of bounty hunters in tow.

I know Matthew McConaughey has been in quite the range of movies, but it is in this one that you know he is about to go on a mean streak. Right before he won the Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club, he is that calm and cool type who is overall mysterious. As the movie unfolds I found myself more intrigued by his character, I sympathized and even empathized. On blu-ray it is no spectacle, but I'm always a fan of HD and the price was pretty great via Best Buy. See this is if you like McConaughey.

Very good movie, can't see anyone else but Matthew McConaughey playing the off-beat Mud. The movie has a nice southern charm. The viewer might often think back to their own childhood while watching this movie. Nice shots of some of the wonders around the Mississippi River.

My review is based on others review as I bought this movie but still haven't watched it. I suggested it to my brother and he said it sucked but he's kinda weird so I don't trust him. Lol enjoy your movie, have some popcorn while you watch it. Kettle corn is my favorite but nothing beats the stuff you buy at fairs! Buy this movie, buy everything from best buy so that you get rewards and buy more, until your broke. Then charge it! Lol

All right, all right, all right y'all. This is a great movie and Mcconaughey's performance is just as good if not better than his Oscar winning turn in Dallas Buyers Club. The disc is solid and typically budget priced which means it's a steal. Highly recommended.

When I read the review on the back saying it was a new american classic I was a little turned off. After watching the movie I have to say i fully agree. Matty Mcconaughey Kills it. Such a great job from him. The kids were awesome. The lead boy goes from "Tree of life" to this, unbelievable. The feel of a modern day Romeo and Juliet, with kids and innocence getting involved in the story. I'll stop talking. Just watch it.

My son wanted to see this movie, but he didn't have the time to see it while it was showing at the theater. I found it at a good price at Best Buy and bought it for him. This movie is suspenseful but is also a heartwarming drama.

Excellent movie - love me some Matthew McConaughey!! Just enough action to keep you interested but not so much that you wanted to hide your eyes. I don't know who the boys are that play the lead roles, but they did a GREAT job also.

This movie did not get a lot of publicity so I was skeptical, however, I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the relationship between Mud and the young boys. I do feel that Reese Witherspoon's talent was underutilized.

I really like any movie he is in. It is a different movie and a different story line. I think the late 20's age and up would like this movie. I am not sure a lot of viewers would like this type of movie.

Mud is an great picture that is among the finest films of 2013. This was the first film that proved to me that Matthew McConaughey can actually act (before Dallas Buyers Club), he really applies himself in this performance, much better then all his romantic comedies. With a great story, and an outstanding cast, this is top notch entertainment.

Mud' is a beautifull contemporary coming of age film that delivers on all levels.
McConaughey gives arguably the best screen performance of his career,
surrounded by a wealth of talent on all sides.
A very well written and directed southern tale that echoes Mark Twain's
love for the Mississippi River. Easily recommended.
