The first Agatha Christie by an ensemble of “big name stars.” And it is a very star studded cast, John Gielgud, Sean Connery, Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman and Albert Finney to name. Few. This movie is also the first Agatha Christie to be a startlingly effective ensemble. (Ingrid Bergman won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. Albert Finney was nominated for Best Actor.) Albert Finney’s Poirot in some aspects is the most interresting of the recent portrayals. The brilliant analytical mind is there, but self-depricating at times. There is an almost manic energy to the performance and at times a stance that looks like Poirot has a hump. But in general, all the “stars” deliver equally nuanced, believable performances. The storyline is a close adaptation of the novel. Cinematography and editing are excellent. There is also a characteristic of many U.K. period mysteries, carefully loving shots of the locomotives and cars portraying the Orient Express. All in all, very good!

This is a terrific murder mystery film film directed by Sidney Lumet. The performances are outstanding. The picture quality and sound on the bluray is a major improvement over the DVD version. Highly recommended.

Excellent movie and the bluray quality was very good as well. Agatha Christie claimed that this movie along with Witness for the Prosecution were the only movie adaptions of her books that she really liked.

My son loves this movie and watched it repeatedly on VCR as a child. I was happy to find it in this format for a gift. But, don't expect great picture quality. Remember that this was filmed about 50 years ago.

Still my fav of the two versions.The look and production design is outstanding.Looks amazing in this long overdue blu-ray transfer.Highly recommended.

Great old movie, full of Hollywood's great actors. Good story line as well as scenery. Full of excitement to keep you interested in this classic movie. Glad I added it to my collection.

Bought this for my wife. She enjoyed the remake but actually prefers the original. Great Agatha Christie classic remastered on bluray!

I saw this a while ago and was impressed by the acting, especially the actor portraying Poirot, Albert Finney.
