Coming into this album I had high expectations and low expectations. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is hyped as one of Kanye's best releases and one of the better albums released in recent history. That being said I haven't felt much of an attachment to his recent releases because I feel that they bank on you relating more to his public persona rather than standing on their own. That being said, this release does live up to most of the hype. I played this through several times and didn't find any particular song that I wanted to skip. A lot of singles on here are still very good and there are some secret hits (Heck of a Life is one of them, and yes the title had to be censored here). Kanye's vinyl releases are notorious for having bad pressing quality, but this one sounded rather nice. I didn't notice any particular compression or extraneous noise that would keep others from enjoying the album. I was a bit concerned that with such lavish packaging (in the vinyl version) that it would be damaged during shipping. Surprisingly even with a soaked mailer that was kind of "shrinkwrapped" cardboard the album came in perfect condition. I would have preferred a traditional record mailer but if it does the job then so be it. So in summation, yes, I would recommend this album to the casual Kanye fan, as well as a die-hard. The vinyl pressing is of solid quality and the packaging is very nice. And with this repressing you won't spend an arm and a leg to have this in your collection.
