Genre: Comedy
Length: 26 episodes
"Nagasumi's in hot water after a beautiful, young mermaid named Sun saves him from drowning. The deep-sea sweetheart's dad is a merman yakuza prone to executing anyone who learns his family's scaly secret! Luckily, there's a catch - if Nagasumi agrees to marry Sun, he just might avoid sleeping with the fishes!
Of course, the honeymoon ends before it even begins when Nagasumi finds his life flooded with gilled gangsters looking out for their boss's little girl. The kid's definitely in over his head, but there's no denying the mermaid's allure - Nagasumi's hooked and Sun's ready to come ashore!"
My Bride is a Mermaid is a pure comedy story through and through. The synopsis doesn't even do it justice to describe how insanely funny this one is. The basis of the story is pretty simple where Nagasumi is essentially forced into a marriage with Sun in order to save not only his life, but that of his family as well. The entire Seto merman gang moves out of the Seto Inland Sea to watch over Sun as she lives and goes to school with Nagasumi. Unfortunately for him, all but two of the gang would rather see him dead!
This one is one of those anime series that just cracks you up like crazy and will have you laughing your head off. Comedy is where this series really shines. You've got a bit of drama thrown in at the end of the series which was necessary to move the plot along, but it also countered the flow of the rest of the show. The denseness of Nagasumi made me want to hit my head against the desk a few times, but the hijinks of the fathers and others always brought me back. I think the best episode has to be when Lunar's Papa and Gozaburo Seto play dating sims/visual novels to try to understand their daughters better. Seeing one in a schoolgirl outfit and the other in a cat costume was just too much. And Masa playing the younger sister was fantastic!
The English voice-acting was spot-on for this one. Honestly, as long as they weren't trying to be too serious, I don't think anyone could have messed this one up as you needed a certain amount of randomness to pull these characters off. About 8 trailers and textless songs are all that you get from the extras.
Amazingly funny series that everyone should watch at least once. Don't bother asking why or how. Just enjoy it for the hilarity and randomness of everything.
I would recommend this to a friend

One of the most hilarious anime out there.
The story is about a boy, Nagasumi, who almost drowns and a mermaid, Sun, saves him, but the mermaid's father, Gouzaburou, happens to be the leader of the Yakuza clan named Seto. He orders the boy to be killed for discovering the family's secret about them being merfolk, but his daughter didn't want the man she saved to die so she decides to marry him against her overprotective father's wishes .
Lovable cast. Tons of laughs. If you love mermaids and yakuza with a mix of comedy and parody then this is the anime for you its worth every penny. One of my top favorite series I would highly recommend it to anyone.
