Season 3 is fun. Retired detective Alexa Crowe’s adaptation to her new life expands beyond relocating to Auckland. Her younger brother is released from prison and starts a landscaping business. As part of that process Alexa is introduced to a niece she didn’t know about. And Madison brings an ex-Navy coder into the team. Not to mention 10 well scripted, interesting new mysteries involving tango dancing, ridiculously rich survivalists, Christmas decorations, fashion modeling and much more. The cat is in every episode, too. (Despite being a well trained video veteran, one episode includes a quintessentially “cat” reaction to a moving sock.). One episode even includes an aging rocker played by a very familiar Star Wars face. Every episode develops a little more of Alexa’s personality. (Lucy Lawless describes it as her mischievous side.). Every episode is well written, well acted and well filmed. A very enjoyable year!
