Good Blu-ray transfer of a fun film

This is for the Blu-ray 40th anniversary edition. The copy is as near pristine as we are ever likely to get. For those unfamiliar with the movie, Nobody (Terrence Hill) does everything possible to make sure his hero of a gunfighter (Henry Fonda) goes out in a blaze of glory. Fonda on the other hand merely wants to retire alive. This underrated Western spoof was produced by Sergio Leone as stands up well as a comedy or a spaghetti western. The Blu-ray is even cleaner than the DVD put out previously (taking into account, of course the age of the material) and looks great! Strangely the title sequence titles (not the dialogue) is in the original Italian, while the DVD was in English. A fun movie all around. Nobody's story of the little bird is not to be missed. If Italian westerns and comedy are not your thing, then skip it, but if you enjoy this type of movie and want to see Fonda turn in a great restrained performance do not miss it.

If you like Westerns, Comedies, and Spoofs, you can't find a better film than Sergio Leone's send up of his other journey's into the legends of the American Wild West with his offering of My Name Is Nobody, starring Terence Hill (of the My Name is Trinity Series), who is presented as the fastest gun in the West bar none, but is very much unknown to those who are seeking the status of top gun! His costar is the classic actor Henry Fonda (used previously by Leone in Once Upon a Time in the West), also a master gunslinger, but with a wide spread reputation, who is trying to retire from his fame. It is a wonderful tongue in cheek adventure produced by the master of the Spaghetti Westerns, and scored by his masterful musical counter part Ennio Morricone. This Blu-Ray is the 40th Anniversary Edition, which proves good cinema never gets old!

My Name Is Nobody must be approached with appropriate expectations. If one is expecting something in the mode of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, disappointment is guaranteed. The film creates its own strange mood, and despite the apparent frivolity of Nobody's antics, it has a thoughtful undercurrent and an elegiac tone. As for the video quality, Blu-ray versions have been released in Italy, Spain, Germany and France. I have not seen any of them and cannot compare video quality, but it is entirely possible that one or more were derived from superior source material. For anyone with region-free capabilities, investigation may be warranted before investing in this Image release. The film itself is highly recommended for those who know what they're getting.

This is one fine movie! Is it a spaghetti-western spoof? Yes. But it's more than a spoof. It's also a really great spaghetti-western. Sergio Leone produces, came up with story idea, and even helps direct the opening scene (un-credited). But it's more than a spaghetti-western. It's also a great western. But it's more than...It's also a great story...great acted...great comedy...great drama...great chemistry...great Ennio Moricone music score!...
Now on Blu-ray?! Whaaaat?!?! One of the most recent DVD transfers was pretty BAM!, but if there are few movies to upgrade to Blu-ray, this would count as one!
Also, if you enjoy this one...you'll want to see the earlier Trinity movies with Terrence Hill and Bud Spencer :)

An aging gun fighter, learns what it means to be a hero in eyes of a wide eyed, over confident young gun fighter played by Terrance Hill ( Of the Trinity Trilogy) A nice turn for Fonda playing the reluctant hero, as opposed to the amazing villain he potrayed in Once Upon A Time In The West. Spagetti Westerns at it's finest!

Growing up in the pre-home-video era, I would try to catch this movie on TV every time it aired. Years ago I managed to find an okay copy on DVD, and was thrilled to find this remastered copy on Blu-Ray. I think this was one of the best Spaghetti Westerns ever to come out of Italy.

I wish they would get a look alike and remake all the Trinity movies. I so love them.. but with the later technology in movie making. Sometimes these older movies make you wish they could be remade. But, it was fantastic to watch again after so long.

A interesting western that does not take things too seriously. Henry Fonda is always good in westerns and this one that is a light western. Sergio Leone generally has movies that can hold your attention. This one of them.

Not your typical western, this one is on a grander scale along with The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly. Sadly picture quality is poor. Some of the best fast draw gunfights in any movie. Terence Hill's best movie.

If you like the old spaghetti westerns, then this movie fits the bill. With Henry Fonda starring and his "Nobody" sidekick they fill the screen with comedy and good western action.

Terence Hill was one of those rare breeds of actor that defied Hollywood standards and logic. No stunt man needed here, folks. A fun spaghetti western and nice remastering.

Huge fan of Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone. This was a fun movie without the violence of the traditional spaghetti westerns and had great irony within.

Not a bad spaghetti western From the 70's, with some touches from sergio Leone. Although I disliked most of these later spaghetti westerns with more humor, I Felt this one was decent and quite enjoyable. The Image Blu ray Is a good enough presentation of the film and the sound is not too bad either. Special features are completely lacking in this 40th anniversary edition, making it a little dissapointing for any fans of this film. Overall a very mediocre release

A better (Blu-ray) visual of a classic early spaghetti western with Fonda playing the "straight-man" to a bumbling young gunfighter "want-to-be"
