Why wasn't this a hit? I laughed sooo much and then it got deep. It's based on a Korean Movie with the same title. A nice guy from a little town goes to New York as a business major. He hears his cousin died and suddenly begins to think how important it is to live a life of excitement and joy. He runs into a drunk, not-so-nice nutty girl in the subway and it gets crazy from there. She says that she'd been dumped and is in a rebel phase. He befriends her. His life turns upside down. LOL! She abuses him in a way that is just hilarious. Even HE laughs at times. He loves her so he doesn't want to let go. They seem to need each other. Both characters are developed nicely. Unfortunately, the side characters are lacking but, it is still a well done script. You will take a plot twist, scratch your head then, go "OH WOW!" Buy this movie. It will make you think about life's meaning, motives, and the big sacrifices that are sometimes needed to gain the love we want. GREAT MOVIE. PS This was recommended to me by the eye doctor that I work for. Doesn't surprise me this appealed to someone as sophisticated as she is.

Elisha Cuthbert gives a very believable performance of a young girl who losses her fiance. She is goes through a grevieng period and is lucky enough to meet Jesse Bradford who helps her and in doing so they fall in love. She does not accept that she is in love but wants to leave it all to faith. Her fiances mother tries to fix her up with a young man but she resist her attempts. Elisha and Bradford agreed to meet under a tree in the park in one year! In the end it works out for both!

the original film is in korean, and is known internationally as one of the best romantic comedies of this decade. I dont know what happened to this version but comparing the two i have lost all hope in remakes.
trust me if you want to watch my sassy girl, watch the korean version it 100x better.
