I saw this movie at the cinema, and when I walked out of the darkened theatre my sides hurt so much from laughing you would have sworn I was suffering from appendicitis, and I rivalled Niagara Falls in my crying - the tears were just streaming down my face!
This inane, farcical comedy has got to be one of the funniest films ever released. It's silly, but the silliness is funny and not pointless. Even the cameo actors are houmourous! Leslie Nielsen is fantastic as the deadpan, very moronic Frank Drebin, a bumbling detective who wouldn't know a criminal from a saint, and George Kennedy and OJ Simpson are perfect foils for his lunacy. (I'm surprised. I said something NICE about OJ Simpson!) And Priscilla Presley has never looked better. She and Leslie Nielsen have a chemistry between them that is lacking in many serious or other comedy movies. What can I say? This movie is great! I order you to stop reading these reviews and go and rent or buy this movie! Believe me, you won't regret it!

The 3rd movie in a great comedy slapstick trilogy & it delivers the laughs just as good as its 2 predecessors! Leslie Nielsen played his role perfect in all 3 films! A truly can't miss film if you love slapstick humor.

The Naked Gun series is so funny, so many sight gags and play on words, stays funny no matter how many times you see them.

***THE 1-STAR RATING APPLIES TO THE BLU-RAY ITSELF AND NOT THE FILM***
Like the Naked Gun 2 1/2, it's not as funny as the first - but still pretty darn funny.
I'd rank this second out of all 3 films. The jokes are rapid fire once again, and the addition of Fred Ward along with numerous celebrity cameos makes this a laugh-a-minute.
This movie, unlike the first two, was not directed by the ZAZ team that helmed a lot of classics in the 80s. Comedy director Peter Segal (who went on to do Tommy Boy the following year) helmed this, although the film was still written by Pat Proft and produced by Abrahms and of the Zuckers.
The Blu-ray itself is a bit disappointing - this is the same disc that was released in other parts of the world a couple of years ago (WB [who distributes Paramount catalog titles on home video until December 2016] just now got around to putting it out in the States). The movie is nearly devoid of film grain. Someone left the DNR button on the telecine machine when scanning the original negative. Unfortunately, as long as this took to get to Blu-ray (nearly 10 years in to the media's life), I don't anticipate a remastered or better version anytime soon.
I saw an HD version of this some time ago on one of the premium channels and it looks better than the Blu-ray presentation. So take that for what it's worth.
