As a games for many year i like when games computer offer good customer service with out the "scarcasim"
I have love the ubisoft games from R6 series and splinter cell to the other great FPS/Action Games but what i dont like when i call there support and instead of helpful people what i get is people who blame my $1600 gaming laptop for being under power and is it a gaming/desktop replacement laptop and is have enough power to lay the games that are made from this company and that included Fc2
and when i compliant or ask for a supervisor my call fall on deft ears and now the CEO must know how that few of there employee treat there loyal customer and pay those $40 - $60 games and this is what we get "pathetic"`

Not bad...but not great either

Very long and slow beginning and the melaria gets more annoying than challanging. The weapons are great and finding more is plentiful. Checking into home base all of the time just to get missions gets old fast. I can see why Ubisoft claims to have 60 hours to complete the game. It is challanging to complete the missions and they are fun to play with a wide variety of ways on how to complete them...it is up to you. I would recommend it since it is different from any other type of shooter game.

FarCry2? Really?!

I waited for this game a long, long time. Since the original.
Somehow, when it did come out, I overlooked a major factor before purchasing it. The original was developed by Crytek, the sequel however was a "work” of Ubisoft Montreal. I guess the "big guys" decided, they can make the sequel without the people who created it.
Well, Far Cry 2 is absolutely NOTHING compared to the original.
I truly believe, that only someone, that has never played the original can possibly like that game.
It has nothing in common, not the game play, not the graphics.
Instead of a First Person Shooter you get some kind of "tactical" stuff, that slows down the progress dramatically. And I tell you what, I don't buy sequels for them to be a different game!!!
If you like FPS games, stick with Crysis and the SEQUEL to it – Crysis Warhead/BOTH made by CRYTEK/, COD/all/ and the original FarCry. Even being 4 years old, the original provides everything a First Person Shooter fan can dream of.
This game is some kind of a joke to all, that really liked FarCry. If you are a fan of the original, you’ll be wasting your money! I know I did.

Great idea, repetitive gameplay

If you didn't play the first Far Cry, then this game as a stand alone is a great idea. Otherwise if you did play the first one you will be let down by this game having absolutely nothing to do with the first one.
The graphics are nice, but not as eye popping as you would expect from a game these days. The graphics are actually a little muddy, at least on medium settings across the board on an LCD monitor.
The game can be pretty long if you want by doing side missions that pretty much have nothing to do with the main story other than to unlock stuff and build your reputation. I mean, it's a wonderful idea and was really fun until about half way through the game where you realize just how......
.....repetitive everything is. You can randomly choose any direction or form of transportation you want to get from point a to point b. but everything you encounter on the way is predictable. You learn exactly where the militia is going to be EVERY time in any given direction, with the exception of the random car, truck, boat on the roads or rivers. YOU can be random, the militia and places they will be are not. The location of point a can be as random as there are missions left to be done, but they tend to recycle point b's. So..the excitement factor is there the first time you go this way, and the first time you use this weapon. but after that it becomes stale.

Well i have to say that its nothing like the first farcry but the setting along with the storyline is good. you don't need a powerful machine to run this game. also i think that the a.i. could be better its too predictable. i also think that the missions are too far apart. but all in all its an alright game. you may be more satisfied if you haven't played the first one.

Single player is great/Multiplayer not so much

I played quickly the first time through single player, omitting half of the side missions and concentrating on the main storyline. It still took 30+ hours, which is awesome for a game nowadays.
I am on my second time through, doing all side and buddy missions and trying to find all of the briefcases.15 hours in and my save game shows only 10% done.Nice.
The game does get somewhat repetitive as far as knowing where the enemy will be at guard posts. etc.But still a lot of fun.
Multiplayer is terrible in my opinion. But I buy games knowing Single player and Multi player won't always both be great. It is still worth the money, just for the length of the Single player game.

Ubisoft nailed a new benchmark in gaming

I'd have to say the best part is the total immersion into the game. You feel like you're really you in the game. No shortcuts as there wouldn't be in real life. The fact that you can get all of these different "jobs" makes for an almost endless storyline. Also...you can use fires to your advantage, but watch which way the wind is blowing! Building a "reputation" and "history" with buddies makes the game more bearable as they can help you along the way. The list goes on and on. I recommend a great system to run this on to take advantage of the full graphics capability. Definitely give this one a try. You should not be disappointed in the least!

I'd really like to give this game a good rating but there are so many connection problems with ubi servers that its just not gonna happen.
I've played single mode for a few months off and on. I can not connect to the servers no matter what settings are changed or AV that is disabled( dumb move). As far as I can see, ubi soft is not making any real effort to correct the extesive problems plaguing this game. So if your looking for a multiplayer game, forget this one at any price.

Looks good runs choppy. About as much fun as PIT FALL on the Atari 2600 if you played it today.
Multi-Player is much better than the story but still only as good Mario on the 1st Nitendo.
Sorry UBI Soft has of yet to release a good game. I'll will never buy another title from them.

Tedious, No relation to the original

First, it should be clear that FC2 is in no way related to the original in terms of story line or characters (no threat to the world and no monsters) . Where FC1 was a linear story that took you from different place to different place, FC2 is a central command based game that requires you to return to the home base time and time again. Each time returning for a new mission.
The command base is an African town where two rival factions have headquarters. This "town" is 3 streets in an H-shaped configuration. The only things in this town are the 2 factions HQ and a run-down church. Very dull. After each mission, you return to town and get a new mission and head back out into the African countryside.
The biggest problem with this is you travel the same roads over and over again. Unlike FC1, which had you traveling thru jungles, beaches, along cliffs, FC2 has you driving the same African jungle roads. To make it worse, you can end up driving for 10 minutes or more to get to your destination. In route, you encounter armed "Checkpoints". These checkpoints always attack you. This is annoying because even after you kill all the soldiers at any given checkpoint you have to fight them again the next time you come through. So while completing missions, you have to fight the same checkpoint over and over again making the drive to the next mission take that much longer. Very tedious.
Add in the fact that you have to go out of your way to constantly get medicine to fight malaria sickness (who thought this would be fun?) and you have a hugely disappointing game that bares no resemblance to the original.

A "Far Cry" from the original

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
To be fair this game has potential but it gets very repetitive very fast. Most all missions are on the other side of the map and you just get tired of driving back and forth past the same checkpoints killing the same guys over and over again. Not very immersive as a storyline and nothing like the original.
Not worth 50.00 dollars, maybe 20.00.

Excellent Break From Normal FPS

Though not perfect, Far Cry 2 delievers a solid foundation on this new take on the FPS genre. The "go anywhere, do anything" way of life is quite exciting. The weapons, vehicles, and upgrades are nicely done and the enviroment is just a tad behind only Crysis in beauty yet doesn't take a supercomputer to max everything out. As for gameplay, the AI becomes predictable after only about 4 hours of play. Whiles this doesn't ruin the fun, it does border on repition unless you experiment with the different weapons and attack things different. If you don't do that, then your game will not be as fun as it could be. Overall, this game is a must for anyone looking for a different take on the FPS gamestyle.

GOOD GAME, WRONG NAME

This game is very nice looking if you have the right rig. The game play is good. but first I would like to say that this game has nothing to do with the original farcry. the title should have been changed. I think that Crysis is more of a farcry related game than this one.
The missions are nice and the concept of fps/rpg is working nicely. but I find that the distance between mission points is too long. i just run from one point to the other with nothing much in the middle.

I you like to forge you will love this like me. There is lots of freedom in forge but in story mode is lacking a certain something. Needs better graphics and a blood feature to turn it off or on.

This is one of those "Buy it when it's $9.99". Nothing like the original which is still fun to play.
