Customers are pleased with the Aurora Smarter Kit's brightness, ease of use, and the aesthetically pleasing design. Many appreciate the relatively easy installation process, although some experienced connectivity issues with the app and WiFi. The price point was a common concern among some users. While the adhesive proved problematic for a few, the overall ambiance and appearance of the product received positive feedback.

Nice idea – the concept is great. The cord gets in the way. And there's no way to lock the pieces together, they slide out too easily
Still happy with purchase.

I've tried and tried and never could get this to connect to the app. I'm pretty tech savvy and even called their tech support but ni dice.

Apparently Unreliable Panel Electronics

After working perfectly and beautifully for two weeks, the panels became unconfigurable by the controller and unable to run scenes (just colors and dimming). Nanoleaf customer support offered some suggestions, that didn't work, and ultimately told me to return them to where I bought them.

Setting it up on my phone was very poor. Might have been because I tried it almost right after launch and been buggy. Though if it worked well with HomeKit, it looks incredible on any wall. Wish it worked honestly.

These were my first jump into "Smart Lighting." I saw them at the store about a week ago and was curious so I took a shot on them. Wow. So easy to set up! All of the panels attach to the wall with 3M Command Strips (more than enough are included) and they use these clever little bridges to connect the panels together. The app was simple to set up and automatically recognizes the shape that you've put together. It could be a little easier to create more customized lighting patterns (or just more clearly explained) but it's not all that difficult. I was so impressed with them I went out and bought two expansion kits and just ordered two more!
As for the lights themselves, they range from ambient dim to full on crazy bright. That was probably the most surprising thing about them. Color transitions are a little less smooth at the lower brightness levels, but still very clean.

Super Cool - Love these lights

These lights are so cool and very easy to set up. I love that you only need to use double sided tape (included in the pack) to set them up against the wall. I recommend to plan your design and placement carefully first, by penciling in where you want the first couple of panels to be. The tape will not hold better if you had it right the first time. These lights are so captivating and are great mood setters. I recently just had a Christmas/Housewarming party and invited some guests over. The Aurora lights and Christmas music in the background made the house very warm.

The colors are super vivid and bright. Definitely enough to light up a whole room. I hope they follow through with their promise of more features including IFTTT and Amazon Echo integration. The app is pretty straight forward, but could use some work in usability. On my HTC 10, I find it difficult to tap in the correct place on certain screens, such as when I'm "painting" individual panels different colors. It could definitely be made to scale to different size screens a bit better.
Other Cons:
In many of the rendered photos of these lights, they have them climbing up the wall and then bending over onto the ceiling. I had planned to wrap from one wall to another, but this is simply not possible with the included setup. The connector that you put between tiles is a rigid circuit board material, and cannot be bent without breaking. I have not tried to create my own connector, but I would think this could be done without too much trouble. Really disappointing that I wasn't able to use the lights as I had intended and as they were advertised.
Apple Homekit works out of the box, but that doesn't do much for almost 90% of the world that carries Android. Sure in the US the market is closer to the halfway mark, but it's still frustrating that so many people choose to develop things for Apple first when clearly Android carries a global advantage.
I would also say these are overpriced by a margin of about 40%. It happened to be quite a bit cheaper for me to buy two "smarter kits" than one kit plus several expansion panels. At a retail cost of $200 for the Smarter Kit and $60 for three expansion panels, I would rather spend my money on Philips Hue bulbs. I ended up purchasing two starter kits for a total of 18 panels for $320 during Black Friday, and I still feel like I overpaid by quite a lot. I feel like a fair price would be around $12 per panel.
Overall, they have some really neat effects if you have the disposable income. They can really add a wow-factor to a room, but you're going to need more than the 9 panels you get out of one starter kit.

Too buggy

These lights are one of the coolest products I have ever bought and they look great once you get them working, but that's the problem. For a $200 price point this product should work much better then it does. It's crazy buggy. Most of the time I can't connect with it even though I have a great Wi-Fi connection. This product is just terribly gimmicky and does not work well at all. There isn't any real troubleshooting support online either that doesn't just tell you to factory reset it for a very temporary solution. I've read many online posts asking for help from people that can't find a solution. even read of many cases where the wrong pairing number was placed on the wrong product making it impossible to connect to the light. Once and if you get them working they look absolutely great but then they will inevitably loose connection and leave you back at square one again trying to reconnect for about 15 min every time. Just took my aurora down because I'm going to return it as I can't justify spending $200 on this. Maybe when generation 2 comes around I'll consider buying this again hoping all these bugs are fixed. Also DO NOT use the double sided tape that comes with to install on the walls because I now have 26 holes in my wall from their tape ripping off my paint. All in all very disappointed with this product. Had great potential destroyed by never ending bug issues.
