Great matter enabled multicolor bulbs. The bulbs have been solid, since I corrected the issues with my wireless network. I've only had them a few weeks, but so far they just work. I have them installed outside lighting my the entry ways to my garage area and although it's not been extreme temp changes lately, they have seen some cold nights and haven't missed a beat.

Adding to the Google home is a bit convoluted. In ordered to be automatically picked up by the app the bulb needs to be switched on first. You then need to scan the matter qr code on the bulb or the sticker in the package. Found it simpler to do a few more clicks to directly scan the code first and then plug it in. But it still is a huge improvement from adding to the maker's app then add it to the Google home. It's a pity more manufacturers are not supporting matter.

They worked well with apple HomeKit, but when trying to use it with other matter hubs I could not get them to connect with to both simultaneously. I ended up returning. If you just have one platform these should work very well.

Very good lights. I'm using them in an Apple HomeKit set up. It is very nice to not need a bridge and that they use the Matter and Thread protocol for fast responsiveness without bogging down my WiFi network. However, they do not get very bright and do not have as wide a range of colors as some other bulbs. They're good or even great bulbs, but not the best.

The color and brightness are great. Setup is a nightmare. Useless as the software is so bad, and the lights drop from the Thread network randomly several times a day. This is not a Thread network issues as I have about 7 edge and border routers.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience — we’re really sorry to hear how frustrating the setup and connection issues have been, especially since you’ve already got a solid Thread network in place. That’s definitely not how it should be, and we understand how disappointing it is when things don’t work as expected.

We’d love to take a closer look and help sort this out. Could you reach out to our support team here: https://support.nanoleaf.me/hc/en-us/requests/new? If possible, include some details about your current network setup and what you’ve already tried — that’ll help us speed things up on our end. We’re here to help get everything running smoothly!

These were very buggy compared to my rock solid Philips Hue lights when I purchased them May 2023. However over time (updates to Matter/Thread + firmware) they have become extremely stable. They are just as reliable if not better than my ZigBee Philips Hue bulbs. I bought these as a tech enthusiast wanting to try out thread radio and they are now ready for the masses. Especially with new iPhones coming with thread radios these should be easy to control for everyone in the future. These are now my preferred bulbs especially for the value.

    These Lights Suck.

Bought these lights thinking they were affordable smart lights- Turns out they were neither. First, you need to have a “thread border router” device such as Apple TV or Google Home to even begin connecting them, so if you don’t have one already these are no longer affordable. As for the “smart” portion- These are the dumbest “smart” lights I’ve ever purchased. They never stay connected. Reconnecting them has taken hours each time. I have numerous other smart lights in my home that do not need a thread border router and do not disconnect on a regular basis. As I’m well beyond the return period, I did what any rational person would do with these lights. Took them to the backyard and smashed them to make room for smart lights that actually work. Never buying another Nanoleaf product, or any “matter enabled device” ever again. It all sucks.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the Essentials Matter A19 Smart Bulb. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that the setup and connectivity were such a hassle, especially with needing a Thread border router—if that wasn’t clear up front, we know it must’ve been disappointing. The time spent reconnecting is frustrating, and we understand why it’s caused frustration with Matter-enabled devices. Your feedback gives us a chance to improve, and we’ll definitely keep it in mind as we work to make our products better. Thanks again for sharing your experience; we’re here if you have further thoughts or need any support.

It’s Good, but not with HomeKit

This bulb should be great. Many Nanoleaf products are, but this one falls short. Its supposed to be a Matter bulb, but that part doesn’t work, meaning you can’t connect it to HomeKit. Only to the Nanoleaf App (which isn’t a good app). I will give it credit for the colors and brightness, but the broken connectivity (at least on the bulb I recieved) makes this not work for my needs, so I can’t give it a good review

We hear you, and we’re sorry for the disappointment. The new A19 bulbs now use Thread for improved performance and reliability, but we understand it can feel like a big change if you were used to the older version. If you’d like, we can help go over your current setup and see what options you have without needing to completely replace your system.

Overall decent. I have a Nanoleaf bulb in one of my lamps and that hasn’t had any major issues but these new bulbs have needed to be reset and unpaired 4-5 times. Once they are working it’s fine but it’s super annoying to spend an hour plus resetting everything every time I want to change a setting. I’m sure not everyone will have this problem. It seems like everytime they are turned off (with a light switch, etc.) they take an abnormally long time to reconnect (if at all) which many other brands don’t have an issue with. Expected more for such an expensive product.

Hello and sorry to hear about connectivity issues with our Essentials Matter A19 Smart Bulb. There could be several reasons you are having trouble with connectivity since most routers and internet service providers and switching to default on 5g, when Nanoleaf works on 2.4g. If you also have an iOS device, they also just released their update which should also make things better. We can go through some troubleshooting steps with you through our support team but if it's faulty we can quickly send you a new one. You can contact them at [email protected] and they can help you from there!

They do what I want them to do, most of the time.. They do seem to get better with every update. The main reason I love them is because we have everything in our smart home integrated in Apple HomeKit. Unlike another brand you may have heard of, these do not require any hub to control them, so remember that if tempted to get another brand over these. Here's the honest part, but like I said, they do this less and less the more they update firmware, and the more Apple fixes HomeKit: Sometimes, very rarely, they will either not turn on to the proper color or brightness, or one might not turn all the way off, but just go mostly dim instead. Not a major issue, and my patience with them so far has been paying off because they're almost perfect at this point. I'm happy enough with them that I've ordered another 3 pack, so I now own 6 total lol
