Overly complicated light bulbs

The color changing effect works as advertised, but, the Bluetooth is highly unreliable, they constantly want to be connected to wifi but reject my wifi password and they apparently need a "hub" for more reliable management. So I have to buy another expensive thing to control these already expensive light bulbs? No.

Thank you for your honest review. We're happy to hear the color-changing effects are meeting your expectations, but we're sorry to hear about the frustration with connectivity. Nanoleaf WiFi bulbs are designed to work without a hub, so if you're experiencing issues with password rejection or Bluetooth reliability, that's definitely not the experience we aim to provide. Our team would be happy to help troubleshoot and get things running smoothly—no extra hardware should be necessary. Please reach out to us at support.nanoleaf.me, and we’ll do our best to make things right.

Would not pair via WiFi with Google Home

Returned. Would not pair with Google Home. These bulbs can be linked by a Matter/Thread connection, but not having that hardware, I opted for the WiFi connection. I easily added the bulb to the Nanoleaf app, and Google Home offers Nanoleaf as a linkable app with the WiFI option. Once selected, GH would hang, never connecting to my Nanoleaf account. Went through several help docs, nothing worked. Returned and replaced with a simpler Govee product. No issues. Based on positive reviews elswhere, it was my sense these bulbs may work fine if they can be connected via a Matter hub, but connecting with basic WiFi was a fail.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're sorry to hear you had trouble connecting your bulbs via Wi-Fi and that the integration with Google Home didn’t go as expected. While Nanoleaf products are Matter-compatible for a streamlined smart home experience, we understand not everyone has that setup yet, and we’re actively working to improve our Wi-Fi and app-based integrations. We appreciate your feedback—it helps us improve. If you ever decide to give Nanoleaf another try, our support team would be happy to assist you further at support.nanoleaf.me.
