an outstanding release from a living legend. There is nothing I can say bad about this CD. Nas discusses everything from police brutality, the upcoming presidential election, slavery, racism, reverse racism, our association with mankind, and much much more! Full of content, which is a definite plus due to the current state of hip-hop. One of my favorite tracks on the album is "We're Not Alone". In this song Nas discusses our connection with mother nature and tells his theory of how our behaviors connect with mother nature and what we do will always come back on us. He talks about how the world is filled with hate, murder, drugs, spouse abuse, greedy, envy, etc. and it is all coming back on us through massive hurricanes, floods, tornados, tsunamis, and global warming. If nothing else this album will provide a lot of food for thought.

    The Lyrical Huey P. Newton

This cd will have you reflecting on the Public Enemy classics of the late 80's early 90's. He starts the album with the type of lyrics you have grown accustomed to, and he ends with a strong message for Americans who want to see change in this country RIGHT NOW! He has one or two radio friendly tracks, but this cd is strictly for the dark room. Just you, your smoke and drink of choice, soaking in every bar that is spit. I stopped buying hiphop cds because the game has changed, but Nas gives me hope that hip hop will not be ran by radio and video stations, and there are still MC's out there, and not just entertainers. To my brotha's, you would be doing yourself an injustice if you didn't cop this one! A classic after Illmatic and Stillmatic. Nas is the best MC ever to hold a mic.

I have never been a Nas fan,but I have always liked good lyrics. I do not have anything against Nas. I think he is at the top of his game.Nas came about in later years. See I am from the oldschool.I grew up with Spoonie G.,Krs-One,Boogie Down Productions,Sugarhill Gang,Grandmaster Flash & The Furious 5,Dr. Jeckel & Mr. Hyde,Jimmy Spicer,Trech-3,Kurtis Blow,Funky-4 Plus1,Run-Dmc,Whoudini, I can go on and on,but this is about Nas. I have some of Nas's music.Hip-hop is dead,is good, but this new cd is serious. Nas is not afraid 2 speak his mind, which is a good thing because this cd has some very good issues. If you like true hip-hop, this is it. This cd reminds me of something Krs-One would appreciate. After all Krs-One is still the king.I would advise all hip-hop fans to get this cd.You will not want to hear anymore nonsense, when you listen to this cd.All hip-hop artist should have this cd. Peace & Love Always, Roody-Roo.

    Real Meaning

I have not always been the biggest Nas fan, but Hip Hop is Dead and the self-entitled album are awesome. What is most impressive about this CD is its consistent ability to deliver provocative thought on real life issues. Sadly, not many tracks are the standard songs you'd hear on the radio (part of the beauty of Nas) and so I don't think it'll get the public recognition it deserves, but if you want to hear opinions, intelligent thought, real rap... this album is as good as it gets. Nas is revolution- personal, political, and social. For anyone who feels a bit of angst or anger about the way things are, buy this album. You will feel like someone understands and more importantly trying to use their position to make a difference. This album is a must have!

This is the album that Hip Hop has been in a dying need of. It's about time that one of our big name artists put together a whole album that is positive and uplifts the peoples mind. Please get this album and support a great artist that has finally decided to take the stance and stop rhyming about killing one another and calling woman foul names. This album should and will be a classic. This is truly a Revolutionary album. You will not be disspointed. Your ears will want more once your're done listening You won't listen to Hip Hop the same after this album. Enjoy and tell all Hip Hop ears about it.

    Lyricism at its best

Nas is a lyrical monster on this album. His ability to narrate and tell these incredible stories with such a high level of lyricism is crazy. A complete album might I add-didn't have to skip one track, the whole CD is dope. For an artist to talk about these topics on an album and not sound preachy about it is very clever of nas, but if anyone can do it, Esco can. This album is the best hip-hop album since Lupe's The Cool and truly something that the game needed and the people needed to hear. While this album is fun to listen too, you can also take alot from this album to think about on an intellectual level. It makes you think and reflect on the past and present times of today. Album of the Year in my eyes. Esco lets go.

    NAS THE GREAT!

This album is a much needed one in hip-hop right now!! Nas is one of those artists who is not afraid to take chances with his craft. A lot of artists in hip-hop probably feel like Nas does but not willing to make an album or a record reflecting how they feel about black culture or politics. The production is not over-bearing which is great because you really get to get into Nas' lyrics. I love the fact that Nas selected the Last Poets and Dead Prez's stic.man to be a part of this classic album. Nas will have some people scratching their heads but will have more people researching and studying black culture and history. This album is a must get if you consider yourself a hip-hop fan!!

    Best Nas Album

Nas has definitely peaked his musical talent with this incredible LP. His delivery and flow are only one reason why this album is so good. This is an album about the real hip-hop and the journey as well as struggles of blacks in America. He breaks all of this down so vividly as well as touches on political issues that have not been talked about in rap for son long. Thank God for this excellent album, because hip-hop needed this.

This was a EXCELLENT CD. Nas spoke the truth on this CD. The music and Lyrics were excellent. Alot of people are fast to criticize rappers for there lyrics, but Nas kept it real on this one. Not to say he hasn't in the past, but this CD was very deep. If you buy this CD take the time to REALLY LISTEN to what he is saying.
