Very frustrating

I bought this game with the intention to play the "my player" aspect. I created my player and tried to play games with him as a SG/SF. IT was infuriating to play this mode because your player starts out with the rating of a JV player. The guy would be wide open for a layup and miss it. So, I decided to play the "My Jordan" mode. This mode may have been even more frustrating because he has a 99 rating for layups and dunks and he misses them! Correct me if I'm wrong, but when you are shooting jumpers in this game, a shot gage comes up; if the gage is green, and you are wide open with a rating of 98 on mid-range jumpers, you should make it. Not in this game. The computer basically chooses when you make a shot and when you don't. Also, when you try to drive to the basket, they get in front of you and stop you from moving at all. You basically have to make a crazy move to get past them because speed alone will not do it.
Playing defense is no fun either. I would defend a player perfectly, and then he literally runs THROUGH my player to get an alley-oop or a dunk. Whereas when I am trying to go up for a dunk or layup they hold me up almost every time.
This can be a very fun game at times, but there are alot of problems that need to be fixed for me to ever buy a game like this again.

It doesn't get much better than this. This game is beautiful to watch, fun to play, and very realistic.
They upped the difficulty on the passing, but that's my only complaint.
Lots of content. NBA Today online feature is great. Love the Jordan content and classic teams.
can't believe the reviews average 3.2. best sports game i have ever played.

this game has a learning curve and if you are used to playing NBA live you will have to reprogram yourself. I like that in a way because none of the games you play here feel the same all the time and you just can't throw the ball anywhere and everywhere and be successful. The moves are great and the gameplay is solid. You can adjust the sliders to your liking and the NBA today feature is great.

i bought this game so i can play with the retro teams and enjoy the current updates on all the teams. what i hate about this game is that they don't have full rosters on the all of the retro teams. i mean look at the bad boys from 1990, they are on the game. there is NO john salley, vinnie johnson, mark aguirre or even chuck daly! its just the starting five that played that season. that suxx!!! also NOT on the game are charles barkley's philly, phoenix 93 or even his houston team. the freakin 2 time nba champion houston rockets arent even on there!!
this game is too much into jordan. jordans retro teams are mostly full on their rosters. so of course it'll be easy to destroy a five player detroit and new york team on there. i also don't like that its difficult to set up the game to play with players who are currently injured. i wanted to play with the pistons and use jonas jerebko but i couldn't cause for the longest time. he has been injured all year. i want the game to make it easier for me to use the full roster even if players are out for the season. i want that choice!!
the graphics are good and commentery is good but they goofed up with the roster problems.

gameplay too difficult

basic passing is unreasonably difficult. shooting is based on shot-stick timing, and every player is different, so you have to practice a ton with a single team to get used to it and make sure you know EVERY single player's tendency. towards the end in a close game my players would make inbound passes to out of bounds and the opponent makes every shot. another thing that was weird for me, the controls for a give-and-go move cause an alley-oop pass instead and I could not find out how to correct it.
another thing that is incredibly frustrating, if a player in real life is hurt you can't use them in the game. I like the Mavericks but I can never play with Caron Butler. how lame is that?

Look at all the professional reviews NBA 2k11 recieved! It is the most complete pro basketball experience you could ever have. Gameplay is the best in the business and the graphics is top notch. The atmosphere is exciting and the annoucers are great. Plus you can play as michael jordan on any NBA team once you complete all his challanges. Anyone who tells you this game sucks is just a NBA live fanboy whos game got canceled b/c EA verison couldnt compete with NBA 2k11! This game is a must buy for all basketball fans!

I live this game. So many game play modes and of course 1 vs. 1 with Michael Jordon. What more could you want? The MyPlayer is the strong point and the graphics are amazing. If you never play basketball and don't know how to run plays, this might be difficult for you to play.

Good Game, Poor 3D Graphics

I bouth this game for the 3D option and let me tell that although the concept is great, there is a lot of ghosting. I believe the 3D option for the makers of this game in particular is still in Beta testing. I have a few other 3D games that work and look great in 3D but not this one.

This game was a gift for my birthday and I have to say it has been fun and really different than any other basketball game I have played previously. I recently purchased a 3d t.v. so when my freinds come over we love playing nba 2k11 with the 3d glasses.
If your not a basketball fan you will after playing this game.
You will not regret paying money for this game

Good Focus on History, But Gameplan Isn't Fun

The Michael Jordan addition to the game is really neat and very detailed. If you're a fan of the Championship Bulls. this game is for you.
I am not a person who likes to use a lot of button combinations to have to make simple plays, and this game requires that. The shoot stick is not enjoyable and the defense is ridiculously hard without working through and figuring out the right sliders. It is very frustrating.
I like realism and the daily updates are very cool, I just wish I could actually play the game.

Just bought the game yesterday. Still learning how to play. Awesome graphics. The players look like the real people. When hooked up to the interent it goes along with what happening in real life. Its pretty cool. I havent tried it with the move control yet. Overall its a great game. I recommend it to all basketball lovers.

Nice improvement over last years edition

This game has shown a nice improvement over last years addition. It has great replay-ability. I have only tackled the "My Career" mode and noticed that it's slightly more difficult but a nice challenge. The only negative that I've seen to this point is in regards to the graphics. All too often the players hands or bodies will mesh into each other during non-action moments. However, game play graphics and AI seems to be the same if not improved over last years addition. I'm a stats guy so the replay-ability is great here. You can continue season after season while trying to build that illustrious career.
Another issue that a gamer might have is that the game instructions are very limited. If you are new at the 2K series you may have difficulty getting the full grip of what this game is capable of.
To this point I think it's money well spent and a nice improvement over 2K10. Definitely would recommend it to a serious basketball fan.

NBA 2K REVIEW
This is the worst of the worst... NBA Live is much better. I really hate they didn't come out with NBA Live (Elite) 2011!!! I bought NBA 2K thinking it would be just as good as NBA Live... I was wrong. The graphics are o.k. but the game play is terrible. First, the Bad: If you don't go into Coaching and change the settings at the beginning of the game, the game will continue to sub your star players because they are tired... come on, how many times do you see Kobe, LeBron, or any star player get that tired? They come out for a few minutes but come on, not that often in the game. Also, if you change the starting lineup at the beginning of the game, and at the first dead ball the game play will take your starters out (garbage)!!! Next, when you are on defence and playing your man tight, if you push the circle to take a charge, THE FOUL IS ON YOU!!!... you can see the player running all over the defence (garbarge). I can understand it sometimes but not everytime you push the circle (try it and see). Next, while on defence, you can have 3 defenders around the shooter and the shooter can still make a 3 point shot!!! Are you kidding me, is this like the real game? How many times do you see Kobe, Lebron, or Ray Allen make a 3 pointer with 2 or 3 defenders draped all over him (NOT EVEN WIDE OPEN)? I've been watching NBA since I was a kid and I've never seen that happen. What makes it even worst, you can play some underrated team and some unknown or underrated player will make 3's the whole game... that's garbage... Well, my list goes on... Finally, the GOOD: Nothing!!! this game is a joke... NBA Live or Elite whatever the new name will be... PLEASE HURRY UP...PLEASE COME BACK!!! I will never buy NBA 2K ever again...!!!

I am not new to video games. I play lots of sports games but this is by far the most difficult sports game I have ever played! No matter what team you are or who you're playing against, they will make all these BS shots on you. The shooting is horrible! You have to use the shot-stick perfectly and still you miss easy shots. They miss the unguarded layup!! The controls are too advanced to have fun with and just becomes really frustrating! And if you got this for the Move, it's stupid.
