Overall, NBA 2k16 is a great game. The gameplay is way more realistic and star players cannot be spammed like they were in previous years. Three point shooting is also more realistic and I love the the bounce passing and flashy passes. Ball handling is great too. My career is awesome with its storyline and the way you can play in High School and College. I do wish that the national championship game would be played in a football stadium though. Online is pretty good in this game. They sort of made the set up like Fifa, going up to a new division as you win more games. This gives gamers more of a challenge and drive to play. My only complaint I have about this game is that you can find yourself playing online games against teams with the same color jersey.

The first thing you notice is the presentation. Its detailed, immersive, and entertaining. The gameplay is fantastic. Post moves are powered appropriately and the AI is incredibly challenging but not overwhelming.
The only knock on the game is Spike Lee's "Living 'da Dream". There is no choice in this "rpg." Grind your way past that 1st year in myCareer and the game opens up into something amazing.
Stop reading this and just buy the game already!

I am a huge nba 2k fan, been playing since the days when Iverson was on the cover and this one really stands out to me in terms of motion, presentation and features.
Motion, controls, gameplay: Feels much tighter than previous years, and when you move the sticks players react with weight, acceleration and momentum. It definitely feels better than previous iterations where you would try to go in one direction and it wouldn't move your character there exactly. The buttons for passing have changed and the pick system is slightly modified but overall it just feels soo much better.
presentation: pregame, halftime, post game, in game interview, post quarter interview. wow this game is legit, it looks like you are watching tnt with kenny ernie and shaq. the main commentary feels a bit weird with the new commentator but its ok.
features: plenty of new features, the modes look great, havent tried them all but i love the extra historic teams and really love that my rockets with tmac and yao are in the game. They look kind of off compared to the real players but thats prob due to the lack of facial scanning because I am guessing its hard to get a hold of guys not in the league anymore.
If you love basketball you must have this game and if you dont you are really doing a disservice to yourself and your fanhood

Let me preface this review by saying that i do not play this game online. I already know the rep of the 2K servers so i avoid it. I'm reviewing this game solely as an offline game. No sports game does a better job of giving the AI a personality than 2K. When i play against the Cavs, i feel like it is the Cavs. When i play against the Kings i feel like its Boogie and co. This game captures their styles very well. The new buttons are nice because it allows you to customize your shooting, dribbling, and passing well enough to feel like you're in control. They added some new TV broadcast elements that i love. Kenny joins Shaq and EJ in the studio and now they do a pre, post, and halftime show in the studio rather than just a pre. Also have player interviews that the splice into the "telecast" like you see on a real game broadcast where the player is sitting in front of a green screen and just talking. Very nice touch.

This year's 2K basketball game is absolutely nothing like last year's game in many different ways. The addition of Pro AM and variations in the my player mode are the biggest changes that casual gamers will notice. However, as an online gamebattles player, the changes to the online gameplay were the most important changes to me. The gameplay was drastically slowed down and the computer defense was greatly improved. Also, it is much more difficult to get a perfect release and the post drive and post fadeaway are no longer abused. While these positive changes have improved the online gameplay, blocked shots are excessive and many uncontested jumpshots are missed by elite shooters. The foul calls on pump fakes are excessive and very unrealistic looking while clear foul calls that do no involve a pump fake are not made. Overall, the addition of Pro AM mode makes for a very similar experience to the old online team play mode and the positive changes to online play far outweigh the negative. Because 2K basketball always has its server flaws and the game released with many bugs, I cannot rate it a 5. However, anyone who enjoyed last year's game without abusing the exploits will enjoy this game even more and will enjoy seeing the players who did abuse exploits struggle to compete.

This is one of the best sports games I have ever played. The myPlayer has a really good story, then gets very deep once it's done. Franchise is very deep as well, and the AI is very good when wanting to have a challenge. I love playing online to but can't fall down the rabbit hole trying to get the best team.

If you are a basketball fan, then this isn't a bad choice for you. If not, take advantage of the high trade in value while it lasts. It came free with my Xbox One so I can't complain. I am not a huge basketball fan so I traded it in. The controls are straight forward and the game is pretty good overall.

I've always been a FIFA player, so when 2K offered this game as a free download trial for one weekend back in the fall, I downloaded it just to see what all of the hype was about. I've never played a basketball videogame before I played this game, so I was utterly garbage at it. Over time, however, I saw my skills develop and I was actually able to compete with the computer. The game is wonderful at getting you adjusted to the controls. I enjoyed that trial period so much that I went out and bought the game. I'm still having fun with it. I think the skill progression of learning how to play the game has made it all the more enjoyable. Like I said, I had no prior bb videogame experience. Now I can make shots and have fun while playing. It was frustrating at first, but like all things through practice it becomes more natural and enjoyable. Overall a quality game for a NBA fan

The gameplay is very complex. For the first time ever in the series I have had to use play calling in order to consistently score points. ( I have been playing 2k since the first one on the Dreamcast.) The player animations for individuals are incredibly accurate. The facial likeness of most players is accurate as well. As with most 2k games the soundtrack is a mixed bag. I found myself liking some of the songs while having to turn off others from the song rotation. The thing I probably dislike the most is the new My Player Spike Lee story mode. I did not find it interesting at all. The voice acting is well done, but I still found myself skipping the cut scenes so I could get back to playing the actual game. With that being said, I still highly recommend this game. I wish 2k could get its hands on the NFL license again so they could raise the bar on those games too.

Nice upgrade from last year. Defense is very much improved, shooting and dribbling feel much more responsive, AI is much more intelligent, hair styles for my player still need to be upgraded, otherwise it's definitely worth the upgrade from last year

this is a big step up from last years version of 2k. it is very realistic for a video game. however there are some areas that could use improvement such as the artificial intelligence. at times the cpu is too smart making the game hard to enjoy on its hardest level. other than that the game is fun and doesnt get old with all of the game modes available

New shooting mechanics. Updated GFX. Better Online Play and servers. Better Team up and MyPark options. And the story mode directed by Spike Lee is great. This years NBA 2k16 by 2ksports is an MUST BUY for all my basketball sim fans!

I have been a fan of the 2k series for a while. The game is constantly breaking barriers. The game makes it feels like you are on the court playing. Music is awesome! Online play is even better with the new ranking system

I like the game overall. I can't stand the my player mode sometimes you can have your team up 10 points with like a minute to go and they will bench you and you will lose the game. It happens all the time. Otherwise I like the game play it seems a lot smoother than 2k15. Also it take a little to load.

This new NBA2k16 is the bomb. 2K really did it big this time. The spike lee story line is fantastic and so realistic you have to play the my player to see what I'm talking about, you'll love it. As for the game play, if you like last year's NBA2k15 you're going to love this one that much more. The dunks, dribbles, shots are realistic and the players if they're really slow in real life they're slow on the game. I can go on and on about this game but I'm glad I had mine pre-ordered and I got to play it before everyone else. This game is magnificent I told all my friends about it and they bought it so playing online with them is so much fun. Get this game !!

When I found out that Spike Lee was going to be doing the story mode for the career I HAD to play it and I wasn't disappointed, I would give this a 3 star just due to the servers being horrible and always going down during online play but the story mode saved it all.

Overall 2k has another hit on its hands. Improved offense and defense. Great overall controls. Great game play.
My only issue is the linear my career mode. Barely any choices for the player. Wish we were more involved in our "my career" careers. But still fun.

Enough game modes to get lost on the menu alone, and gameplay that feels like watching a game on tv as opposed to "just a game". Well done 2K, well done...

I ordered the product thinking the cover would have all 3 characters as advertised.. instead, they sent me a copy of the game with JUST Anthony Davis and 2 bonus cut outs of the other 2 inside lol.. they could've at LEAST sent me Harden if not Curry
I exchanged the game at my local BB for the 1 with Curry on the cover. Petty, I know but it made no sense to own all the 2K games with Kobe, Jordan, KG, etc on the cover and Anthony Davis is on my newest cover.
Aside from the cover issue, the GAME itself is just as fun as the others
