Rarely is there a TV show produced at such a high standar of professionalism and love. The plot, sometimes intricate, other times simple, helps the audience get to know the main characters by linking their past lives to the present screen time in each episode; a sprinkling of well thought-out humor helps to make this series very enterteining. The actors are so involved in their characters that a question arises: Do script writers base part of their scripts on the actors lives? Each character is a real person with their pros and cons, not a cartoonish, cheap, "plastified", robotic, and know-it-all being. The cinematography is a feast for the eyes, as is the music to the ears. The production work reflects a tremendous, well organized effort, visible even in the smallest details. A profound knowledge of the characters' complexities and what they go through in each episode is the basis for great directing. This series is the product of good teamwork that results in outstanding TV production.

Excellent episode plots, great character development over the series. Although episodes are available frequently on cable, unpredictable and out-of-sequence there, so this DVD gives you choice over playback. Also the episodes are slightly longer (no clipping to fit in more commercials over original broadcast length), no "dancing" promotional figures inserted across screen bottom to promote other shows on that cable network. Extras were really insightful.

I just found NCIS about a year ago I have been treating myself to a season a month. I am so glad I did. Watching the season in order explains so many story lines and threads. Worth every penny!

This is one of the best tv drama series ever made.
