Better than iRobot

We like the design, which is flat on one side, thus working better than iRobot. However, like all robotic vacuums, it will bang and scratch your baseboard. It does the job though: cleaning well and easy to use. Battery lasts for a few hours during cleaning.

Love this thing. Does a great job of keep the house dirt and dust free on a more regular basis than I had time to vacuum. It has a little trouble with climbing up onto speaker stand feet and flat lying chair feet. Overall very satisfied.

My first robot vac!

Having a dog that sheds not stop in the house I wanted something that could help out so I didn't have to manually vacuum the house every day. This thing really fits the bill!
A few things i noticed in my first few weeks of owning this. It gets "stuck" in the same area in my house and shuts off (saying please remove what is in my path), the funny thing is, there is nothing in the path (its looking at a wall by a staircase). Because of this I am hesitant to use the "Schedule feature" I may correct this issue by using the magnet boundary markers included with the robot. Speaking of the boundary markers, placing these on my hardwood floor the robot will usually "push" them, would have been nice to either make them flatter or adhesive option on the bottom. Also after every use you have to "clean" the unit. Empty bin, clean out filter, clean the sensors and clean the brush (i do this about ever 2-3 uses). Despite the annoyance of the above listed, this thing is still great and saves me a lot of time!
Pro's
-This thing is very smart, and does a GREAT job on my house. (room to room, transitions and all)
-Filters, although i hate how often you "should" change out the filter, they thankfully arn't that pricey
-Will go under anything that it can fit under (beds etc...)
-Will work in dark (and still do a great cleaning job)
-Battery lasts an entire job (in my house at least)
Cons
-Maintenance after every use
-The lack of lithium ion battery (what year are we in?)
-No Instruction manual included with unit (had to go online for the full manual)...yes I know the quick guide is included
-Some of the sounds are very loud/annoying (removing the bin for example), I almost wish you could turn the sound off all together.
-Wish it was a bit flatter to get under other areas (my entertainment area)
My rating is more like a 4.5 star rounded to 4, I would buy this again in a heartbeat.

This does what it's supposed to do; however, the issues i have are the following:
- the connection between neato and the charger is problematic. even though they are literally touching, neato still doesn't detect the charge sometimes. it's a 50-50 chance
- It does get stuck at times at the base of a lamp or some small hills

Handles dog fur like a champ

I hesitated to buy a robot vacuum because my two dogs generate so much fur, I didn't think the little dirt container would be able to handle it. The Neato Botvac seems to have a larger dirt container than others, so I decided to try it.
I'm still impressed by it. I generally run it every night when I go to bed, and let it clean the living room, kitchen, dining room, and hallway. It's nice to be able to wake up and walk around barefoot without stepping on the fur and dirt generated by the dogs the day before. The included magnetic strips work well for keeping it from going where it shouldn't. I have mostly hardwood floors, and it sucks up everything really well.
I let it run in each bedroom during the day. The bedrooms have carpeting, and the vacuum does a great job of sucking up the dog fur hiding under the beds.
The only issue I've seen is also a positive. The D-shape of the vacuum lets it clean well in the corners, but it also causes it to get stuck between chair legs occasionally. There have been a couple mornings where I've had to rescue it from where it got stuck the night before. I just started putting the chairs upside-down on the table before bed--problem solved.
Overall, I'm happy with the job this vacuum does, and the time it saves me.

Life changer

My wife and I could not be more pleased with the purchase of our Neato. We have kids, a dog and a cat and with hardwood floors, tile and marble floors they get dirty quickly - and I like walking around in my bare feet. We come home every day to very clean floors and the amount of pet hair it picks up is shocking. It has been a life changer for us.

After reading other reviews on here I made the decision to give this little bot a go.
Pros:
Incredibly easy to set up - very straight forward.
Not as loud as I thought it was going to be. It is a vacuum, so it is noisy, but nothing compared to my Dyson.
Excellent on dog hair and fine particles, over hardwood and rugs. We have 2 big dogs, which requires use to vacuum twice a day, especially when they shed coats. This bot has been great at keeping up with us, even though the second run per day has to be done manually (not on schedule)
When the battery dies, it charges itself and goes right back to where it left off, without manual intervention.
Cons:
Seems to get stuck in the same areas - we had to move some things around to make it easier for it to navigate (not a huge issue)
Does not like socks. With two boys, my living room gets a dusting of socks every day. They will get caught in the brush and stop it from continuing - our own fault, not the bots.
Cleaning it out is a bit difficult, since the filter is disgusting after every run. The comb it comes with to assist in cleaning the filter is quite helpful, but still a pain to clean without dust going everywhere.
Overall, we are very happy with ours and recommend it to others.

We bought the Neato to handle daily cleaning duties for our carpeted upstairs area. We have 2 dogs that shed, and already have a Roomba 870 for the downstairs area. We also had an older Roomba 500 series we had been using upstairs that was finally dying. The Neato really does a great job. It gets tangled in cords or other obstacles a bit easier than the Roomba, but is much more efficient in the way it develops it's cleaning pattern. The magnetic strips work well to block off problem areas like under the bed. It sounds silly, but it is actually kind of fun to watch it work as it develops it's plan for the room and then attacks it with neat rows. We love the Roomba's new aero force brush, and we're a little concerned with how Neato's more traditional looking brushes would handle dog hair, but we shouldn't have been. It seldom gets tangled with hair (unlike the older Roomba) and is easily cleaned. Overall, it takes a little more prep work than the 800 series Roomba to clear the room, but for the price savings is well worth it.

Runs on all floors. Does a great job covering all areas. Has a little trouble getting in tight spots and around the edges next to walls. Great for someone who has difficulty pushing a regular vacuum cleaner. A bit pricey but worth the extra. We had originally bought a cheaper brand but you get what you pay for. That brand only worked for one day.

Great vacuum but not incredible for smaller spaces

I have used this in a smaller home and our guest house (both about 1,000 sq ft. or less) and it has great power for a robot vacuum but it can definitely be a little more inefficient for smaller spaces. It will map out a certain area at one time (sometimes going into two different rooms--mapping out part of one and part of another) and vacuum that space. If you watch, sometimes you just want to say "No, don't do it that way!" I know that's just me being OCD, but it's hard to really determine what it has and hasn't vacuumed. While I believe it does pretty much vacuum everything, it is definitely obvious when it doesn't maximize its ability in cornered areas--sometimes it will back up and readjust to stay close to the wall or other objects and sometimes it will clearly miss a decent sized spot. Also, in some areas I've noticed that it does a little twitching next to walls/objects like it is hesitant to be too close. I always clear the floor as much as possible and pick up everything I can (even floor lamps) to make it easier for it to clean. If it was in a large room with nothing in it, it would do an amazing job! Other than that, it is a great vacuum. No problems with battery life, as it hasn't had to recharge once to finish the job. It easily ramps large floor trims going from room to room (my trim to the bathroom is about a couple of inches and I was very surprised how easy it was). Container is easy to clean and you can buy a 4 pack of the off brand filters for $10 on Amazon which work fine. This probably won't eliminate the need for a vacuum for certain areas of your home but it definitely is worth having.

It has done a great job to cover large areas at home and leaving almost nothing behind. I also like the systematic way it goes about covering areas and that it works in the dark. However, the battery life is not great and sometimes says battery is empty after a full charge, a quick reboot fixes the problem most of the time, but kind of annoying. Overall, has done a great job.

It does the job quite well. Not like iRobot, it scans room and calculate the pattern. One thing is that you will have to keep your wires hided so it won't get caught.

I have 4 large dogs and the Neato D80 does a fabulous job cleaning the grit, sand and hair they leave lying around. It is able to get under furniture and edges of cabinets with no problem. It covers all the floor very systematically and does a good job getting along walls and chair and table legs. I did a lot of research on the different brands, Amazon reviews and YouTube and I'm not disappointed.
